  1. As I said...(in a different post).......... Tonight against Polk, we were blowing them out and after the ref's saw the score board, they tried their best to catch them up........ and they did by the half. Calling foul after foul on Jordan and Lambert. But when Central came back out, It was a done deal. Davis new it and the Polk girls new it. It was all over. The final score should have been 102 to 56 but COACH Morgan tempered the game and slowed the score down quite a bit. YE HAAA !!! To K. Lambert in this game,, She scored 15 which got her over the 1000 point mark. (1007 Points) and maybe (3000) fouls. Great Job To A Team That Can Spread It Around !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Will be close, always is. They way Centrals girls play they could win every game by a blow out but they do go crazy from time to time and lose a big lead. I think on their "A" game days, they would put up a good fight against the Lady Vols but on their crazy days, Etowah city school could beat them. Smart defence will be the key against Tellico. It's real simple, don't let Tellico shoot the three and don't let them drive for lay ups. No easy task without being in foul trouble.
  3. First off Lambert needs to keep here hands to herself and as Coach M. says "guard them with your feet". Trys too much to steal the ball. They need her in the game to take care of the ball and run the offence. As for Jordan, she will always have a little foul problem. It is expected, she is a tazmainian devil out there. She just needs a little tuning in to the silly fouls. She rejects more points from the other team on defence for Central than Central can score. And I agree with your points spread across the team. The other coaches will be pulling their hair out knowing Lambert can score 30 or more and then when they are doubling her, each other girl is dropping in 10 to 20. Refs for sale or trade......... any other district?
  4. I agree, McNutt has worked very hard during the off season and I think you will see a BIG difference in some of the girls due to the weight program they have been on this past year.
  5. Best I can tell is same as years before. It will look like they are struggling in the early season. But if you look at thier schedule, their first 5 games are all AAA schools including Alcoa, Heritage and Maryville. If they are going to go big, it will be this year and next. They still have the same core team, Jordan, Davis, Lambert, Elder, Simbeck and add in there Purkey and a new tall fast Freshman. It will be another good year.
  6. Who are the shooters for S.C.? McCentral really did not loose anybody for this year (or next) they should be an improved team from last year. I just wonder if as they have in the past, start out looking like they just learned how to play the game. Also it takes them at least four games to start to settle in on who will be the starters.
  7. Will it boil down again to McMinn Central Sequatchie Co. ????? It will be a good game !
  8. First off if the bald guy new any of the McMinn "CENTRAL" people and liked them, he would not have fouled out the top player. Also if he was one of our Dist. 5 Refs, we would have lost that game by 30 points. I have loved the calling we have seen in the district and region compared to what we have to deal with in regular season. The girl went down hard and held her leg, at first I thought she had torn another ACL. Good job for thinking of "safety first" !
  9. Not to nit pick, but Central starts one freshman and four sophmores. One senoir comes off the bench for limited playing time the rest on the bench are sophmores, freshman and one junior. Did not really expect them to get quite this far this season but some how Central is always in the chase.
  10. Really have no dog in that fight but you must be connected to a team that he put a thumping on sometime or another. Or maybe have some kin folk that could not make the cut to be on Centrals team?
  11. Statistically, he should have two, next year and the year after. But time will tell. I also heard they were secretly working on how to run a zone defense to use in the post season. This should be the key to winning it all. They are also going to hire a makeup artist to change the looks of each player at half time of each game to throw the ref's off.
  12. Just wondering how the calling was for this game. It sounds just like when Central went there to play.
  13. Kylie Lambert at McMinn Central can score 30 points a game if needed but has been settling for 7 to 10 points. See's the floor as well as anybody and makes excellent passes. One of the best defensive players in the region. I think she was MVP of the district, All region and led their team to the state last year as a freshman.
  14. I think the coach will run Lambert as point and when the occasion arises he will try others at point but when they get in trouble, Lambert will bring the ball down. These incoming girls and a few of last years team need to understand that the defence end of the court is the most important part of the game at Central. Thats how they beat you, 100mph, in your face, four full quarters. Just roll the ball out onto the court............... let them play !
  15. Starters should be: 1) Simbeck 2) Jordan 3) Elder 4) Rayburn 5) Lambert And they have a deep bench. I think these are all 10th grade except Rayburn who is 12th grade. From what I saw last year they shoud be about the same. But they make it to state.........
  16. I agree, the Morgan girl did serve up some strength underneath but didnt the #22 freshman play a lot at the point guard position? They should be pretty good this year with all the young tallent from last year if as usual people dont move, quit or get thrown off the team! And from the comment above, I think Meigs will play tough, Coach Powell will have it no other way. He is a great young coach.
  17. From what I see out there, this year should turn out just like last year. But what about the Chattanooga teams, did they loose the good players? Polk should be about the same same with Sequoya and Meigs. Have not heard anything about McCentral, they lost a few key players.
  18. This can't be any worse than the TN HEAT playing in Div 2........... I deal with 13U mainly and we had the same problem in our county. Most of the STUDENT athletes parents wanted thier child to go to a BETTER school. I was a parent that made that switch also, but I switched my child in the 2nd grade. Did not even consider basketball or softball at the time.
  19. Central will get beat in 5 (bad).... Unless Central swaps the head coach with the asst. coach then Good P may have some trouble. Do you think he might try a suicide squeeze every time a runner reaches third ?
  20. Only got to see one game there. What team was hot in the 15U? I heard there were going to be some of the best around in that playday. Everybody is tuning up for state !
  21. We were there playing 14U and I watched McMinn Fire 15U play the Lady Panthers 16U and McMinn Fire beat them by about 35. After talking to the Fire coaches (which play for Tennessee Weslyen Collage), they had won all their games very big. Just watching these girls play, their defense is mind boggling. Thet strike so hard and so fast, most of their points are scored off turn overs but they also shoot well from the arc. I think most of these freshman took McMinn Central to the state this year. I remember the Jordan, Elder and Lambert girls from Central, they are in our region. I did not see any other 16U teams there?
  22. 23 players! How many teams do they have? Who is their coach? How would a coach control and monitor who plays what games. Maybe they have a good stats keeper and rotate only who practiced the best the day before. I guess it would be nice to have that many to choose from from game to game on best performance but it seems it could cause a lot of kaos. WOW!
  23. I have seen the younger Lee play and she is a pretty good player but she needs to learn team ball and she does not have the "court brains" as her sister did. Maybe it will come later but she needs to be herself.......... not her sister. The Perky girl appears that she could be a big impact if she picks up some quickness and I don't know the other four girls names, but Central does have several impact players in next year.
  24. Well, as a Dist 5 fan I am sorry to see the Central girls go out that early but they were in the wrong bracket. I just wanted to know who was chosen for the all state team? The Lambert girl should have been at the top of the list. We have been amazed at the dedication, hustle and shear drive of the freshmen of McMinn Central this year, they have taken the Central team to the state when they should not have been there. I am baseing this off of last years record. Tellico should have been representing us but the cards fell the wrong way. So does any body know who made all state ?????
  25. Well it like this, I have been to most of the games during the regular season around Tellico, Polk, McMinn Cental, etc... and the officials calling in the district and region tourneys has been above and beyond what we all had at the local level. I have seen a few problems in the tourneys, but the guy's in the regular season were terrible. The kids did not know at what level they could play from qtr. to qtr. So I say from what I have seen the past two weeks.... Hats off to these guys !
