My thoughtson the issue(I wasnt there): It's part of the game. The catcher has got a big mouth and he wanted some action.Thats his fault, he should be punished. When he takes one step towards the mound, regardless of why, it is the duty of his teamates to defend him just as it is the duty of the USJ players to defend their pitcher. That religion stuff is total BS. Because they read the bible they cant be competitive and show emotion. Thats a crock of BS. They're people too, and your judging them, which I believe is an equal offense to fighting when it comes to the words in that ancient story book called "the bible". There is nothing wrong (in the real world at least) with defending your friends and teamates.

You signed up to do it. Nobody makes you go. When I volunteer to do something, I do it well regardless of circumstances. Make the calls, and make them correctly. It's nobody's fault but your own that you are on that field with that responsibility. It's exactly that, a responsibility that you have to the coaches, players, and parents who care about what transpires on that field. Excuses are for people who cant do it right. Stop whining!

I'm going to get ripped for this but I dont care. 9a/5a is a bloodbath every winter. There is no way that the other teams in the tourney played as many quality opponents as CPA. Dont give me the "we played 2a and 3a schools" stuff either, CPA could beat most of those teams minus sikes. CPA is the favorite because they dominated the toughest schedule. I will be disagreed with, but if CPA doesnt win it all, then it was an upset.

I never said they playing field was level. Privates have an inherent advantage due to no zoning restrictions. Other than that, most of the "wah wah wah privates recruit wah wah wah" bs, is exactly that, BS. I played in 9a (all privates) and played against the same kids from 6th grade-12th grade. The teams only changed by one or two players every year. There was no whole-sale shipment of players every year like the publics imply. What I'm saying, is that public school motivation for a split is winning, which they are crucifying the privates for wanting to do as much as possible. If I were a public school player, I would be motivated to be the best because "the best" meant better than all the other schools in my classification. If my state title made me the best of half the 1a schools, I would be upset. Maybe I was just more competitive than the average public school kid and his/her parents, because it just seems like excessive whining to me. and in response to the perry county kid, hats off. You guys dont whine, you go out and beat the privates. Host a conference or something and teach the other publics to play with the best, not run from them.

How much District 9a and Region 5a basketball has the average Rockwood fan seen? Judging from the optimism in their comments, not very much.

First, I am an FRA fan, just as a preface to what I'm about to say. You cannot forget the "happy to be here" factor. FRA finished 5th in the district regular season. Could have lost to DCA in district 1st round (lost both reg season games). could have lost to both McEwen and Goodpasture in the region (lost both reg season games to gp), then went on the road and beat Summertown at Summertown(never an easy task). So, by my account, FRA is an unexpected state tourney team. Throw that in with the always fired up country school fans (especially because they're playing a private), and the lack of FRA fans due to spring break, and it looks to me like a recipe for an upset. I say "upset" because if FRA takes emotion and the opposing crowd out of the game (their style of play will help tremendously with this), then FRA should win because I cant help but to beleive that they are more talented than Unaka. Just my two cents, no intention of offending anyone.

The motivation behind the publics wanting to split is the same motive behind the privates supposedly recruiting : They want to win. Public school supporters get on here and argue that it's unfair, when the truth of the matter is, the publics are just as greedy as the privates and want to win as many titles as possible. Hippocracy if you ask me. If there is a split, the Rockwoods of the state have a better chance of winning state titles. Granted, TSSAA would crown 7 or 8 state champions in every sport every year. The level of play would also be much higher in the private division. Can Rockwood supporters live with winning a state title when they know most if not all of the private schools could beat them? To me, its kind of like winning the NIT, your crowned 66th best in the nation. A public school state title would be much the same. The TSSAA would essentially crown a team "best of the rest."

thanks. I got it now. I would argue against it's correctness, because at last check FRA won by fifteen points and scored almost 60 points (pretty productive for an FRA team), but I digress.

Sorry to post again, but I am laughing out loud at the whole flowers thing. I graduated from high school, got A's in english/lit classes and I'm still not sure. Was that some sort of simile or metaphor??Or are there actual flowers that we are discussing? -- It didnt seem like a coherent thought to me either, and I read it multiple times. Maybe its a country thing. -- Do flowers dent? I mean like you dent a car?? I'm really confused. I'm going to go ponder these things for a while.

I guess they should have gone to the official and asked not to shoot the free throws, because they might get criticized for making them. Also, impressing an opponent or their fans is also not a typical goal in the game of basketball. Scoring more points than your oponent, however, is the goal. You people amaze me.

Theres probably not a better place to play a game of that magnitude anywhere in Class A. Summertown's gym is my favorite gym in the state. I consider those of you that played in and watched this game to be very lucky. I wish I could of been there.

I would like to note, just for the record, that NCS fans are showing tremendous class by supporting their region at games and on this board(both this thread and the FRA one). For all the trash that is talked, its good to see people stepping up and giving credit where it is due once they are eliminated. You guys arent as bad as you've been made out to be.

NCS wasnt overrated. The people that get on this board though talked way too much. They(the people who post and the team) got what they deserved.

Your on here talking trash because you threw a pass?! A PASS!? We're talkin about a pass???? I did a lot of passing in my career, and we won a lot of games. I didn't realize I now own all of these gyms because I threw a helpful pass to a teammate. Geeze, I own just about every gym in Nashville, inlcuding NCS. Anderson, your grandfather is a great coach and a class act. I dont know your father, but your are a poor sport, a loser and a punk. You need to grow up.

I agree GP is being overlooked. They could win region for sure and possibly even state. The big guy is the key though.

The "bad blood" has sorta died off. I wasnt at either game this year, but in years past the games were very clean. It has turned into a mutual respect among the players more than anything else I think, due in large part to two very classy coaches. But I dont know about this year. FRA can win too, but thats just my opinion.

blik is right. At the district tournament 4 years ago (also at FRA), the place got so hot and crowded that it messed with a few teams. Anything can happen. As for 9a vs 10a, 9a should finish CPA,Goodpasture,fra,ezell in that order. if thats the case, then CPA, Goodpasture, fra, and ncs should be the region final four, but I would have picked the same teams last year(10a won all four quarterfinal games). Keep in mind the region is at the 10 site this year.

The Pressley Ramsey(sp?) factor must be taken into account here. His teams somehow find ways to win big games. Not trying to offend anyone, but the team that walked into the gym last year didnt look like they could beat a middle school team. Somehow they gave us (FRA) a run everytime, and they won some games when they had much less pure talent than their oponent. They are always well coached and prepared. Tough call tonight.

I played with Kyle Keene and have a tremendous amount of respect for his abilities, his passion for the game, and his desire to win. Kyle Keene is no punk. If there is one thing nobody on this board will dispute, its that 50% of Nashville referees are full of exactly that, BS. Pushing players, whining,taunting, and generally being a poor sport is what I saw out of Ryan Daniel in the three years I played against him. In the 9 games I played against him(i think it was 9), and the numerous more in which I watched him from the stands, not once did I walk away with a favorable impression of his attitude on the floor. "Punk" is not a good word to use I dont think. I would say "classless" is the perfect definition of the way Ryan Daniel plays the game.
