Hmmm I think that we have given a great effort at having a freshman team. Title 9 has nothing to do with my situation because they are given the opportunity. We have 4 freshmen and that's it! I think we have done a decent job of building a program over here so we have produced some quality athletes in my humble opinion. Our conditioning is not mandatory at all but highly encouraged to be ready for what goes on when practice starts...it isn't easy.

We will do our best.

We have tried to have a freshman team but what can you do when you only have 6 freshmen come out and 2 quit during the 1st week and decide to just stick with soccer? Is it fair to tell the coach that's been in conditioning all that time to say oh well you are fired because some 9th graders didn't want to hang in there? If this is how it's suppose to work then how do you ever get a 9th grade program started with a coach that knows what's going on if she is always fired based on the kids staying? Some schools don't have the luxury of having 20 or 30 girls try out no matter how large the school is. If you think that all schools have the same participation you are living in La La Land my friend!!! By the way, if you have 10 or 12 that wanna play basketball send them our way we would love to field a team so you won't have to complain about the county schools being unethical... Definitely Jordyn. I don't have any exact stats, but she is dominant night in and night out, and brings way more to the table than just scoring. She can play position on the floor well, and is very good on defense. Also, she is no doubt the leader of this team, and possesses many leadership qualities. That's great stuff to hear. I'm sure she has been a pleasure to watch these past few years! Newsome gives more than just scoring also. Last game she had 32 points 11 assists 8 steals and 5 rebounds in our 80-46 win over District Rival Bolton at their place.

PHargis your stats are incorrect. I got the correct order from Gentry Stats. He keeps an accurate record of the games in the Memphis area. It's not reported like it should on coacht because all of the schools don't log in and keep their schedules up to date.

As I said earlier in the season, it's going to flip so many times with teams heating up and cooling off. It's really hard to tell who is going to come out this year. It's so many teams trying to find their post season identity right now and some teams are just a few games away from having the right chemistry. It's been some really interesting games in 14-AAA, 15-AAA and 16-AAA. I'm not sure what's been going on in 13-AAA other than Jackson Northside being the heavy favorite to win the regular and tournament championship. In 13-AAA the records aren't really clear on coacht but it appears like this... 1. Jackson Northside 2. Dyer County 3. Brighton 4. Hardin County 14-AAA 1. Millington 2. Arlington 3. Cordova 4. Craigmont 15-AAA 1. Overton 2. Ridgeway 3. Southwind 4. Collierville 16-AAA 1. Central 2. White Station 3. East 4. Mitchell

Manassas and Fairley in AA. Any school in the Memphis area that peaks at the right time in AAA. Too many to name that could end up in it. It's already heating up in 14AAA.

Congrats to Jasmine Newsome for reaching the 2,000 point milestone Tuesday night against Craigmont. Keep working hard. She is having a great Senior year and should surely get a nomination for Ms. Basketball for AAA.

Well said Jazzypha24mom!! Tennessee has a lot of great basketball teams all over the state! Tennessee basketball can compete against any state and it's evident by our high profile teams like Mo West, Memphis Central, Ridgeway, Overton, et al going to various showcase games and doing well. Remember my friends it's just like boxing, "Styles make fights!" It's going to be an exciting week down here in Memphis. Let's try to keep a good positive conversation going about the teams without all the negativity. Remember, they are just kids!

I don't see what all the madness is about. Gibson County can compete with any Division... period. The year we went to state I remember playing them in a preseason scrimmage and it was a very tough game. It's going to be a very interesting year in the Memphis area. I saw a very good White Station team win against a very good Ridgeway team yesterday. You can never take a night off with anyone during this time of the year. It's really tough basketball, very exciting time!!!

I guess everyone else should stop practicing now and just declare the winner between those 3 schools . I'm telling you it's a tough race to the finish this year. Central has a tough district and an even tougher Region because the playoff scene here is really intense. To say that they are far beyond everyone in their district and region is putting a lot of pressure on them. Glad you didn't make that crazy notion about my team lol. We don't need the extra pressure. They are indeed among the top programs in the state year in and year out. It's going to be fun to see how this season plays out in the Shelby/Metro area. Three teams in the dandy dozen are in my district, so it's going to be interesting basketball... especially in our district!!!

I was wrong about the game on Friday!!! It's Southwind and Overton at Southwind, not Ridgeway. Still another very good game!! I hope the roads are clear enough to make the trip.

Simply put, the Memphis area has a lot of tough teams. It's going to be hard to tell who will make it out this year. It's all about who wants it most and who peaks at the right time and who gets the right calls. Jackson Northside has a very good, well coached team that is now a part of the Memphis mix of substate match ups. It's going to be a lot of good games this week and I can't wait to get out and watch some good games. DuDa where are you man!!! Gonna be a good Ridgeway-Southwind game Friday at Southwind!! Then White Station and Ridgeway on Saturday. Both games will be followed by great boys games. I can't wait!!!

We lost 55-42 after starting 17-13 in the 1st and missed 4 layups in the same quarter. Other than that night, we have played ok. We are currently 7-1. We should be able to compete if we come with the right frame of mind.

They are very athletic and they shot the ball well in transition. We did a very poor job of contesting shots in the second half. We didn't execute anything well that night but they didn't play bad either. We took really poor shots and didn't make the good shots we took at a high percentage. It wasn't a good night.

Played like garbage. Started off ok but didn't execute on offense or defense as a team. Unfortunately it happens in this game.
