I really think Union City will be the favorite by a wide margin this next year. When you return the top player in the district plus they have a loaded sophomore class headlined by another Weddle. He has a chance to be a special player. I got a glimpse of him when he was in eight grade and I could tell he has a ton of potential. Now I really think that Lake County is going to be a team that is going to greatly improve under a new, young and hungry coach. Lake County has more talent than anyone in the District outside of Union City. I like Halls with King but coach Jerrett is past his prime and it is showing in his teams performance against Humboldt in the district simi. Humboldt is a scrap team but lacks the star power they used to put on the court. I think that the district will be like this 1. Union City 2. Lake County 3. Humboldt 4. Halls 5. Gibson County 6. South Fulton 7. Bradford 8. Greenfield

Union City won and we were lucky to even be in the game if you ask me. I was surprised to say the least. Coach had a good game plan on how to slow Union City down by playing a 1-2-2 zone. If Channing would have just hit his free throws we would have won the game. And the shot that beat us was a impossible shot to hit. He was fading away from the basket when he made that shot. Great shot, union city won, and we have a moral victory by playing Union City the closes of any team they played in their undefeated season.

You're right.It would really make a lot of teams scared.And a lot of fans also.So scared that you'd have to have emercency personel on hand in case Whitby moved.! I see no gold basketball in the thophy case. what was basketball like before Whitby, I tell u, empty gyms and 500 basketball seasons. Be thankful on how he built lc basketball. And if I was a good coach, I would even walk foot in lake county gym to coach basketball. After all the hassle u fan give I rather coach gleason or bradford, at least they happy winning. That all I got to say. I wish the players luck for next season because they deserve it, not the fans.

Barger was 9 and 22 in three seasons. LOL no wonder he coming back. He probably was on the hot seat anyway. And we hired an asst. girls coach to fill the boys basketball position that was let go after posting 25 victorys a season avg. Only losing to Trenton in the original single a district 3 times in 6 seasons. The other were to Humboldt and union city. Double a powers if I'm right. And the only single a team to beat Humboldt and union city out of the single a teams that reside in the single a district of 2003. Big shoes to fill if u ask me. We might be missing these days. I don't agree with getting rid of the man that buildt the lake county basketball program. I can see us turning into obion county west in two years. I hope it isn't true but I can see this happening. U never get rid of the person that builds ur program without having his pick of a successor to carry on his work after he left. Good luck

Bad hire. Mark it down he wont beat the big boys like union city and Humboldt in both sports. If this was the logic for getting coach witby out then I will change my school of choice. Don't like it at all.

If Lake Co were wanting a Bradford coach..I believe it would be Larry Eddings if he would be interested..With that being said ..and with the rumours and just sources..I still havent been able to actually confirm that Coach Whitby is for sure gone..I had a 99 percent declaration..So there's still that 1 percent..lol..I called a school board member that's a buddy and was suppose to call me back but didn't..So..officially I haven't heard for sure..! They would really like to have Glisson as there head coach. Everyone I've talk to talks highly of Coach Glisson. I know that he has done a great job bring the Bradford program to respectability. I endorse Coach Glisson for future coach if that is true. But I would just like to hear the candidates. And some that been brought up, lets say I'm not totally on the bandwagon. But I really have hopes that Glisson will be a candidate.

John Glisson would be a really good hire for Lake County.

Lake County before the uc game that year lost its best post player in 6'5 Justin Clay. I mean if lake county had him the whole year things could have went different. It is what it is though. If uc would have beat lc when uc had those players suspended lc probley would have gone to state that year. Lake couny would have been the number 2 seed in the tournment and would likely met union city in the district championship that year. Ohh well what could have been.

Marquis Weddle needs to be in this conversation. The all time leader in points scored at union city. I remember that he scored over 40 points against haywood team that had vernardo and ricky taylor at haywood.

I've heard that Swift was sent to the detention center. That is the rumor going around. I will know more info about this ru/mor as the day goes along. But for the present time let's hope that its a rumor and that it. I know that the big 3 have some distraction along the way in previous seasons. No different here were just hoping for the best for the team that we root for.

They played very hard all game long. It was rebounding that killed UC in this one. Derick Swift is a major factor cleaning up the glass. He had over 20 boards last night to go along with his 20 points. Good win for the Falcons. Keep it up LC! BTW....Congrats goes out to the true Greenfield fans that are Volfan007 and Greenfield. There is no reason why Manassas should not be in the top ten! But Legend don't let it worry you! In a couple of it will be show time! The contenders will stay and pretenders will go home! To me rankings is just a number! yea I no but what it all boils down to is kids being treated unfairly. this just show that the voters are bias or they just dont no what they are doing!!! lol!!! Mrbigster looks that nobody cares about BB this year! The day of the game and just now posting a thread! Sisco will come right out of the shoot and press Humboldt! The last time they played Humboldt had trouble with press! Wouldn't surprise me to see Sisco do it again! If Humboldt wins this game it will be because of the athletes they put on the floor! We both know they will be out coached! Well maybe Boykin will get another phone call but maybe it will be earlier in the game!! Yea..It's a shame..Still two fine teams and both have a great chance to bring home the Gold ball if they play well..No dominate team this year from the looks of things..Should be a good game..!Last years and in years past..all kinds of posters from Humboldt and especially Union City..And I've been carrying the torch for both Lake Co teams thism year..Occasionally 007 chimes in and also Spellerone and finally yesterday Chis..Gusee everyone is just too busy...But somehow I believe if we were all 18-0..17-1...16-3 and ranked 1,2 and 3 in the state..would be a lot more posting..But still..Humboldt is ranked number 1..Union City 7th and Lake Co 9th..That's not too bad..I'm still excited..! 007 is still here! You're right..I thoughtLake Co would play ball..I knew Lake Co was beat when Whitby started the 5 players he did..He didn't start Leron Garret and Ricck Boyd didn't play at all until middle of the 3rd quarter..He started the Swift kid,about 5 foot in place of Leron and I assume Ricky Boyd wasnt playing because he isn't a very good outside shooter and decided not to play him..But the thing is..the boys that Whitby started cant shhot either and Ricky is a better athlete..I read Copenoc's thread below..He's right..Lake Co has talent..Too much talent to lose like they did..I left in the at the end of the 3rd quarter..something I've never done..but couldnt sit through that mess any longer..like Copenoc said..no plays whatsoever..just come down and if I'm open a little shoot..and a lot of dribbling and taking it to the basket and a 5'5 player trying to shoot over guys 6'4..Humboldt played a zone and Lake Co came out in a zone press that wasnt working and Humboldt was just getting layups at will..Coach..wake up..Humboldt has some fine athletes but doesnt shoot much betetr than we do ,other than Antonio Brooks..I left the score was about 21 points..Humboldt must have outscored us about 30 points or close in the last quarter alone so I figured Whitby must have done the same thing he did at Brighton..Emptied his bench and played the guys that never get to play..The thing is..they cant get the ball past half court..So..I'm believeing thats where the 97 points are coming in..He was probably upset with his players..But the thing is..he's most of the problem..I like the man..but to not play a zone..in a press that wasnt doing anything..starting a couple players that hardly ever play..and against Humboldt..got what he deserved..I saw a lot of people walking out the same time as me..Surely he saw the fans leaving..Maybe everyone needs to stsrt walking out after the girls game the rest of the year and the school officials will take notice..But then again..they have everyone's money..But Congrats to Humboldt..This is in no way saying they dont have a good team..that there was bad officiating..Humboldt was and looks to be the better team..and a whole lot better coach..Maybe time to admit that Lake Co just isnt any good..too much individual play.. Yes..they lost to Union City on a neutral court but also a game that Lake Co had a 1 point lead with just seconds to play and a 1 point lead and Union City had to foul intentionally and Lake Co just missed their free throws..But again ..on a neutral court..The same Union City team that came to Dyer Co..on Dyer Co's home floor and went to overtime..missed a 3 ball that just rimmed out at the buzzer or it wouldn't have been an overtime..Also ..Lake Co may have 2 players on the team tonight..In other words..a Dyer Co fan could ask a Dyer Co .player Cody Gross about Taylor..I'm pretty sure he's played against him..Ask Cody Gross if big Ced is better than Cody Taylor..Not saying he'll be eligible..Will know tonight..But if he is..Lake Co just got a lot better..And another kid,Swift,about 6'3 and can jump out of the gym will be eligible for sure..So..could be 2 starters that we havent been having..For sure Cody Taylor will start..and Swift will be maybe the first off the bench.! I don't know if Cody will be eligible but they played some good team at siu. I will let u see the carbindale book when i see u bigster. But all the teams up the out sized us and some by a whole lot. I bet we were the smallest team up there. But i would say that if we had a better second half against that chi university team we would have played for the carbindale title against Bartlet. I think that we are about to play some good Bball in the second half of the season.

I think that Either Lake County, Union City, Humboldt, or Middleton will win it all. West Tn has to be the favorite for the gold ball.

They played White Station to 3 last night. So lc will be better after These tournments. Win or Lose. Beavo Why in the world didn't McCord go to a different tournment than play in the Gibson county tournment and the Martin tournment. They should have play in a tournment that would prepare them to play teams like White Station and Melrose. I mean the best team you will play in Gibson is Bolivar and they lost to Ridgeway by 30. I don't think that Ridgeway is in the top three in memphis. I think Melrose then White Station and then Southwind are the top three aaa team in memphis. We will know a little more how good Ridgeway is when they play White Station tonight. DC sould be playin in the siu tournment with us.
