  1. Congratulations to Greenfield who defeated Humboldt tonight, 57-45.
  2. This was very good summation of the game. I looked up the stats and CPA had a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. I would add that when it become obvious that CPA had taken away Goodman with the aggressive double teams the Rebels appeared very hesitant to let the three ball fly. Then came the complete cave in at the free throw line with 10 misses in the second half alone. Two really good teams but there can only be one winner.
  3. Macy Wright of Obion must play smart. She is a extremely high effort player who at times tries to do too much on defense resulting in unnecessary fouls. Keeping Macy Wright on the floor is paramount to Obion winning the Gold Ball.
  4. I totally agree. Last years loss in the first round was incredible. Going away from T.T. with the game on the line was a mistake that I don't think the coach will make again.
  5. Madison Academic from Jackson, TN. Mighty strong team. Expect to see them at the 'boro.
  6. Congrats to Scotts Hill on going undefeated and back to the 'boro. I have observed the comments about Scotts Hill's lack of speed/quickness and occasional struggles against the press. I agree with these observations (also a lack of depth) but this is an undefeated team on the way to the big dance. Undefeated indicates a very, very solid team. But we as sports fans, myself included, can't seem to resist nit picking the team at the top. However, in my worthless opinion, the two main concerns for this team winning it all are fatigue and foul trouble. I feel this team could benefit by using a zone defense. Playing man to man against a Lake County (quick) or Jackson County (precision) offense will be tough for this team to do for a full game. A zone might help to offset these issues by: reducing the fouls that can be created by the quicker teams; using their length to still close out on the 3 pt shot; and allowing them to conserve energy which is SO vital to combating the press and making late free throws. This team has a real shot at the title but they will need their first 5 to stay on the court and able to breath! Good Luck Scotts Hill. I'll be there.
  7. I would pick Butler over Fussell, but I haven't seen the other lady.
  8. May I caution you about salivating too much for getting to play Westview. And especially based on the Wednesday night game. First of all Westview played without a post starter who was ill and not dressed. They were also playing the defending champs Gibson County who is on another level. I would not book any reservations for the 'boro before Sunday. This Westview team has played a brutal schedule and are very much battle tested. They can slow you down and dictate their game. Be very thankful that you dodged GC but don't be too giddy about getting Westview. Dangerous. I promise. Good Luck!
  9. If PC has 3 players better than Madison's Morgan Faulkner then I can't wait to see them.
  10. Gibson County fans (myself included) better BEWARE! Do not be surprised at all if Westview hangs the first "L" on the Pioneers tonight. WV matches up quite well with GC in talent, depth and coaching. WV Coach Stevenson is one the very few coaches who is not outclassed by the McMillan/Russell coaching dynasty. I am expecting a down to the wire nail biter. It's should be a dandy. Be there!
  11. I want to offer some major kudos to the job Coach Paschall has done with this team. Bradford basketball has had some very lean years since the David Russell "Glory Days". He has done an incredible job of getting this team back to the 'boro. Nice Job!
  12. This Region 7AA tourney will have 4 of the top 10 AA teams in the state. It appears to me like Gibson County emerged from Saturday night as the biggest winner going into the Regional Tournament. By Fayette-Ware upsetting North Side and GC losing to OC, GC gets to dodge the other three top ten teams NS, Milan and Obion Central until the Region Championship game. No disrespect to FW or WV but from GC's perspective they got the best draw possible.
  13. Does Lamar Rogers also coach the Middle School girls? Just curious about his role in the development of the youngsters? He has produced an incredible dynasty there. 900 wins. WOW!!!! Congrats from a West TN fan.
  14. I agree with SLS. Will this Joyner theme ever end? Only if he was doing Milan games would any of this chatter be valid. Move on.
