  1. It was just a jab to get people fired up about their team...
  2. Thats why we have JV games or Freshman games....if they dont play in those they either need to get over it and be happy they are on the team, work harder or if they think the coach "doesnt like them"....they can go to a different school or give it up completely. I feel nothing for those who ride the bench......they need to work harder or quit complaining. - 20Eagle Now that's class...believe it eyeonu! [Edited by sportsfan0603 on 3-13-03 10:17A]
  3. Who gives a rip? Mt. Juliet? Do they even have a basketball team? Or for that matter, any sports?
  4. Hey Eyeonu, Quit whining...it's just a little trash talk... Don't be so sensitive... (sorry if that offended anybody)
  5. I'm proud of you guys for finally catching up in a down year! 9A has been so dominate of 10A, it was almost getting pointless to even have a region tournament!
  6. I work in the Sports Information Department at Lipscomb University. While never playing for Meyer, I was around him and the team year round. Meyer is a good man and a great coach. He's won 800 games for Pete's Sake! He is friends with John Wooden, Coach K at Duke, Bobby Knight and Larry Bird. These coaches as well as many other prominent coaches from around the country call on Meyer from time to time for coaching tips because they respect his knowledge of the game. I know they call on him because they would have to go through me to get to Meyer. I'm not sure what comment was made about Meyer in the previous post, but if it was something claiming Meyer as incompetent, I and most of the country would beg to differ...
  7. Good article in today's City Paper about last night's game with CPA... http://www.nashvillecitypaper.com/index.cf...s&news_id=20599
  8. It always happens this way... Whenever a team has been on top for a long time and isn't quite as good anymore, the folks on the bottom get all excited and start taking cheap shots. When Ezell was drilling East Lit, TPS or a host of other schools by 60 points, you didn't see Ezell fans coming on here claiming, "Ooo...we beat them by 60. We are bad now." Or when Ezell was out winning district and region championships, we just went out and did it and then celebrated afterwards. It's a lot like the Lakers. When someone has been on top for a while, you can count on low class folks to eat them alive when they're down. The same thing can even be said about life in general. Poor people hate rich people just because they are rich. The only thing people like to see more than someone being a hero, is to see a hero fall. People want to see our Presidents screw up, they want the Preacher to get caught sinning, they want to see people who appear to have it all together mess up. I'm not sure where it comes from, maybe it's jealously. I know I got a little off topic and I'm not trying to relate all of this to high school basketball, but the concepts are closely related. Whenever someone is on top, people love to see them fall so they can kick them while they're down. But hey, that's life... [Edited by coacht on 2-12-03 6:24P]
  9. Cincinnati Bengals new head coach?
  10. Looks like you were close, Frhs Ezell took care of FCS by 29... 66-37
  11. The answer is blaringly obvious... Last year's B-ball team had three seniors: Terrell (D-1 athlete at Vandy), Davis (D-1 athlete at Vandy), Shelley (D-1 athlete at MTSU), and three juniors: Owens (D-1 athlete going to UT), Blackburn (D-1 athlete going to UT?) and Henderson (who could be considered borderline D-1). With six Division 1 athletes on ONE Class A basketball team, who on this message board couldn't have coached them to a state championship? I blame Burnette. Yes, I know the team went to the State Championship twice, but I don't use that as a measure of success. I've seen less talented teams accomplish a lot more at Ezell. For instance, I saw a less talented team win the State Championship in '98. I saw an entirely different team in '99 make it back to State (lost 8 seniors after '98). I saw a team in '96 (that had no one go on to play in college) knock Sam Howard and Goodpasture out of the playoffs...two years in a row. I saw a '94 squad down Brentwood Academy for the region championship. While none of those (except '98) are higher finishes than State Championship Runner-Up, I'm more proud of those teams. They played with everything they had. They maximized their potential. They utilized teamwork to accomplish their goals. The question is not 'where did the team finish ranked in the state?' The real questions are: Did Burnette teach them fundamentals? Did Burnette help each individual player meet his potential? Did Burnette teach teamwork? The answer to all of those is 'no.' You could see it everynight on the court. I do not blame the players. Those kids were willing to learn. You can't blame them. They kept their end of the bargain by becoming talented basketball players. I do not put the blame on the players because their leader - Coach Burnette - did not lead them. Burnette failed at his job. Two years in a row. I don't care that Ezell didn't win the State Championship - that's not what it's all about for me. He didn't even give these guys a chance to be the best team they could possibly be. I'd rather have no talent and a great coach than all the talent in the state with a bad one...
  12. This one is tough... Ezell ripped Boyd a new one earlier in the season (42-15), but Boyd has had an amazing streak since that game. BB knocked off DLHS and Cloudland, two very, VERY good teams. CPA has an amazing streak of their own, not to mention the win over Ezell in the playoffs. BB is more explosive than CPA, but I think having been there before and coaching gives CPA the win. Go Region 5-1A CPA 14 BB 6

    CPA WINS!!!!

Way to go, CPA. No question about it, CPA was the better team tonight. Yeah, we Ezell fans are sad that our season is now over, but had a great run. Keep on working hard Lions and bring home that gold ball for Region 5-1A! Ezell will be rooting for you...
  14. Forget ESPN's College Game Day. It's time for Coach T's High School Game Night. Forget Corso, Herbstreet and Fowler. I'd like to hear game assesments and predictions from Scout, OnlineLC, Vic, Chakra, Pujo, Real Go Eagles and anyone else who keeps up with 1A ball. How will each half turn out? What players need to have big games? What will be the keys to winning for each team? Etc., Etc. Etc... It's Thursday. One more day until game time. CPA is riding an impressive 9 game winning streak. Ezell is the defending state champ. Someone has to lose, but hopefully the winner will go on to win it all.
  15. DCA hung around for the entire first half in the regular season match-up. The rain played to DCA's advantage since they are a power running team. Ezell finally managed to open up their passing game in the second half to pull away. Anything can happen in rivalry games, though. And believe me, DCA and EH are rivals. I think they're calling for rain again this Friday, so we'll just have to wait and see! My prediction: EH 38 DCA 9 [Edited by sportsfan0603 on 11-12-02 1:30P]
  16. Caesar, Who gives a flip that we can't beat up on public schools anymore? We can't wait for the split!
  17. I want to apologize on behalf of Ezell-Harding for the comments made by ANOTHER person. I'm all up for taking jabs at other teams in fun, but the orignal comment takes things a little far. Obviously this kid is young and doesn't understand much about sports yet. Good luck to the four teams left on Friday.
  18. That is unbelievable, WesVols! I cannot believe how close you got on nearly all of those games. I know 1st round isn't too hard to predict, but you almost got the scores right, too! Awesome job!
  19. ''I would love for the public schools to point out our advantages,'' Ezell-Harding football Coach Scott Smith said. ''If we were recruiters, that would be different. But we play with the hand we're dealt, just like public schools. We don't have work-study programs. We have parents working extra jobs to put their kids in school here. ''If we have advantages, I invite you to come find them. Come find our field house that is the size of a matchbox. Come find our practice field that's the baseball field covered in solid mud. The only unfair advantage is that we work our tails off. The public-school coaches need to stop complaining about this and play football.'' I don't know about anyone else, but no where in that quote did I read "Public Schools don't work hard." I don't even read it implied. Coach Smith just admitted that working hard is an advantage. What's wrong with that? It's true, right? I don't think people know what's coming. The privates will break off and the TSSAA will lose money. The 1A's who have been complaining so much will just be replacing the privates with bigger public schools. Who knows what else we haven't even thought of yet. I know you people love to hate someone, though, and will take this and turn it into whatever you want. No matter what anyone says and no matter what the truth really is you will always think that way.
  20. Great breakdown and assesment of the upcoming games.
  21. I expect to see you back on here Saturday morning, Okie!
  22. We can't wait to get away from these whiny public schools. Maybe we will be able to shut this forum down now!
