  1. If its optional, no one would wear them. Like shin guards; they are required in organized play but not many wear them in adult leagues (again unless required) because they "hurt my touch on the ball".
  2. Does anyone have an opinion on requiring protective head gear in soccer?
  3. JV: Greeneville 6 Jefferson County 0 Hat-trick by Freshman Caroline Lodge
  4. Farragut 2 Greeneville 1 Very good game. Farragut scored the winning goal with about 4 minutes left in the game.
  5. Greeneville 9 Morristown East 0 Greeneville's JV and Freshman teams played the 2nd half Greeneville JV vs Farragut JV tomorrow at Greeneville. Should be a good game
  6. Greeneville 3 - Morristown West 0
  7. I was there. Saw 6 games (including one each of Houston and Collierville). What's your point?
  8. Houston was certainly the team at Katie Hunter going 4-0 against the some of the East's top teams (minus Bearden). Collierville did beat a tired Farragut team but could only muster ties against both Greeneville and Oak Ridge. I wouldn't count the East out just yet.
  9. Did anyone attend a game where a pk was called? I was at 6 games and saw multiple fouls obviously in the box but only a free kick outside the box was awarded. It almost seemed pre-determined not to allow a pk to determine a game's outcome. Any comments?
  10. Also from Kati Hunter: GreenEville 3 Beech 0
  11. I am not a fan of DB but I hope he does well (except against Greeneville). He is a good coach and a good person. My son played for him in college when he was an assistant and he did a great job at Morristown West last year. Good luck to you and your new coach.
  12. Greeneville also had 2 teams so who knows how they were split up. One went 4-0 the other 3-1. GV had several Freshman on the field the 2nd half of the OR game. It's only pre-season so you really cant make any determinations based on yesterday's results.
  13. I am told both have applied and are being considered by ETSU. Apparently there were many applications and it has been whittled down to a final few.
  14. He is still waiting to hear the decision on the ETSU position.
  15. Brett Teach, previously the head coach of the men's program at Auburn University at Montgomery (AL) is the new Tusculum men's coach.
  16. Another option would be for the AD and President to go (as previously stated there is a rumor that is a possibility) and Coach C be re-instated. That's what the alumni want. I'm not sure what will happen to the current players.
  17. Coach V's wife works in Greeneville. Not sure if he would be interested in the Tusculum job in light of how the situation was handled and Coach C's "resignation". I think Coach C is interested in ETSU but would also be interested in CN if the position was open. It would be quite interesting to see C coaching CN and playing against TC. The ETSU program would be club ball the first year and D1 thereafter. They are planning a beautiful soccer complex. The only fly in the ointment is the push to return football to ETSU. If that happens (doubtful due to funds) then the mens soccer program is a no-go.
  18. I checked out the college forum and you are right, not many posts. I signed up as a Plus Member and if anyone is interested in more of the story - let me know and we'll move over to the boys forum. If not, we will just let this die out.
  19. What is on the school's web site is controlled information provided by the school. There was NO investigation. The AD sat the players in the men's soccer locker room and said if he didn't have names within 20 minutes the whole team would be punished. The guilty parties did not come forward. The other players had no idea who was guilty so they couldn't give him any names but they and the coaches did give him names of individuals who acted "suspiciously" during the team meetings. That was the extent of the "investigation". There was a small group of players (4) who admitted to taking small amounts of money from the players tip jar but the the person (s) who took approx 12,000. from the concession did not come forward. The AD never interrogated the "suspicious" ones. Law enforcement was never brought in since, in an effort to take responsibility as a whole for the actions of a few, the team members collected, through various means, the entire amount (12,000) and within 24 hours was able to pay back the amount stolen. Most took money from their savings/bank accounts, some had money wired from home, others just put in all the money they had for food for the remainder of the semester. Since the money was paid back, no charges were filed. The school's alumni - mostly men and women who played soccer at TC - have pulled 10's of thousands of dollars from the school in protest. Legal action is contemplated. The AD set himself up as judge, jury and executioner and destroyed many lives. A proper investigation would have exposed the guilty and exonerated the innocent.
  20. Coach C is one of the most successful coaches in college soccer. I'm sure he will coach again (and soon).
  21. My son is (was) a member of the team. I am privy to all the ugly details but I'm not sure the girls soccer forum is the appropriate place for discussion. However, you have a very astute assessment of the facts. Suffice it to say, 2 coaches and many innocent young players had their careers ruined and reputations tainted by the actions of a few dishonest individuals and the knee-jerk, gastapo-like action of the AD. No investigation was ever done! I would gladly sign up as a Plus Member and post on the boys forum if anyone wants to discuss further.
  22. Tusculum will begin a search for a new men's head coach in Jan. The status of the players from this years team for next year is a question mark. Since the school did not investigate the incident, they have no idea who was guilty. They "requested" the coach's resignation, held all the players (innocent and guilty) responsible and cancelled the season. All scholarships will be re-evaluated at the end of the year and it will be up the AD and new coach which players stay and who goes. No idea how they will make any kind of fair decision since the Athletic Director botched the whole thing from the beginning. It is a shame - Tusculum men looked good in pre-season play. The woman's team by the way is in the Elite 8 this year.
  23. Walter Graham - played goalie at Carson Newman for Coach Eiskamp.
  24. FYI - Haypaul is not a Greeneville supporter. If you look at his/her posts they are a Farragut fan trying to disparage Bearden. As a Greeneville fan - congrats to Bearden. You ladies had the toughest schedule to play and got it done. Beating the #1,2,3 and at the time #9 team is quite an accomplishment and is deserving the title "State Champs".
