Wow, I started the day tied for 11th and now with my only 2 Final Four picks left actually making it...I am tied for 6th! It stinks that I won't have any winning teams tomorrow. But maybe UConn can win it all for me, I sure wish that could happen! Go Huskies

Rumor has it that he lost these girls (I'm just going to post their initials, don't want to mention names) - CT, WT, and I've also heard of another

In Macon County, head coaches at the high school level make a $4,500 supplement. Junior HIgh head coaches receive a $3,000 supplement. If a coach is involved with being the head coach of both, they can only receive $5,500 per year because of the cap. If I am wrong about this, Macon Countians please refresh my memory.

Here's the way I see it, sorry for being offensive to anyone but my goodness. It is ridiculous for players to quit a team because they don't like the coach. That is one of the worst excuses anyone could give for quitting a team. I don't care who you are. If they don't want to gut it out and play the absolute hardest they can just because they don't like the way things are run under the coach...then they need to shut their mouths with putting down the coach! When you play a sport, you don't play just because somebody asks you to do it. You play because you love it and want to excel in the game. It's a shame to let a coach get in your way! If you don't like the coach, then transfer or quit and stop talking smack about the man running the program! I know Coach Brown and he is top of the line. He just didn't have anything going for him in Macon Co. Good luck coach and best wishes from Red Boiling Springs.

I know this is a girls' board, but I was completely unaware that Coach Brown stepped down. Did this happen yesterday or on Monday? It's a shame that he had to go out like he did. Coach Carter will probably be gone after next season. He may decide to quit now due to the players quitting. Coach Beam may get to be the head man sooner than we thought.

71fan...I graduated from Red Boiling Springs in 2003 and I attend Tech right now. It's a GREAT school that I have just fell in love with! Small and friendly campus, great administration and faculty, and small classes (except for the sciences). I am glad to hear that Kev will represent Macon County in the football program here at TTU. I think that one of his teammates (Derrick Gann) is going to try and play for them also. If I can be of ANY help with Kevin and helping him register for any of his classes, just let me know. I am already in the system and have learned a lot about what classes and professors to take. I also have a couple of friends that are engineering majors. Send me a PM if you have any questions about anything. TTU--Eagle Pride!

With Volek signing a 4 year contract, the Titans have arguably the best back up QB in the NFL. I am so glad that he is going to stay. I just can't believe that a team wouldn't want him to be their starter though. He sure would make a good one. Any comments about this?

The Predators' Final Push Towards the Playoffs
TNBballMan replied to FHSrebel27's topic in Nashville Predators & the NHL
Hey guys...just a message board! I don't want to see a big brawl between you two! Well...I have always been a huge sports fan. And as a coach, I know what is needed in any sport to win. Even though hockey was never on my A list for favorite sports, I have enjoyed it since the Predators have came to SMASHVILLE! My knowledge of the game has grown by leaps and bounds! The Preds have some good young talent. Hopefully, they will make this a playoff season and start something for years to come. Good luck Predators! -
Very good young driver. Reminds me of...oh boy...another Jeff Gordon. Similar backgrounds and driving styles, mirror images. Khane is going to be a good one. Leave it up to Evernham to get the great young talent.

Whatever happened to Jim Bob Cooter?

If you had a choice of these 3 colleges
TNBballMan replied to mctigersportsfan's topic in Open Discussion
Those ambitions won't be coming any time soon. ATC's (Certified Athletic Trainers) with a Master's Degree usually start out around 30K a year...that's with a MASTER'S. I was amazed to find out that teachers in Macon County start out more than that with a Master's. Athletic Training just isn't a money making business. But she could take that experience from her Bachelor's and try to get her MPT or DPT (Master's or Doctorate in Physical Therapy). Physical Therapists that are also ATC's usually make pretty dang good money. Just a thought for you... Going back to Tennessee Tech...they don't have any specific curriculum to be in sports medicine. Those students who wish to pursue that through TTU usually major in Physical Education and devote their required number of hours needed with the athletics to take the NATA (National Athletic Trainer's Assoc.) exam. So you don't have to be enrolled in a specific AT program per say. -

AMEN BEETHOVEN! I attended MTSU and wasn't impressed with it. There are way too many students on campus...over 22,000 including graduate students. I didn't feel safe on campus and the parking was terrible and the walk to classes was the worst! Tennessee Tech is much smaller with 10,000 students. I transferred there this semester and I love it! MCTIGERFAN---My advice to your daughter would be Cumberland University. My aunt went there and said she would never go anywhere else if she had the option. People there are nice and it's a small and safe campus. The Athletic Training program there should receive accredidation next year from CAAHEP. The one thing your daughter needs to be aware of, but I'm sure she already knows it, she will HAVE NO PERSONAL LIFE! Athletic Training is a very intense major. You have to attend practices all during the week, do clinicals, and attend games all thoughout the year. It is extremely time consuming. I just couldn't follow through with the major. Too time consuming. Good luck with your choice! -
I heard that Farrah is also stepping down as the assistant coach.

Clarkrange Boys have a legit shot next year
TNBballMan replied to one2ruleall's topic in Boys Basketball
Positions 1 and 2 in the district should be a lock with Pickett Co. and Red Boiling Springs. Pickett returns four starters, while Red Boiling Springs returns Daniel Meador and Matt Heady from knee surgery. 3, 4, and 5 should be a real tussel between Clarkrange, Clay County, and Monterey. Clarkrange has some great young talent while Clay County will have Saylor Walden and Dustin Rich. I heard as a "rumor" and don't chew my head off about this, but it was rumored that two of Jackson County's better players are considering the move to Clay County. That should make for an interesting approach. Can't wait for season to be back again! -
The Lady Bulldogs of Red Boiling Springs High School will be hosting their annual team camp June 13-16, 2004. They already have a lot of teams, but the door is still open to anyone interested. We have teams from across the state. If your girls team is interested, contact Head Coach Larry White at 615-699-2365. Thanks.

I know for a fact that the Red Boiling Springs Lady Bulldogs are attending the team camp at Shelbyville June 20 through June 23.

Georgia Tech is the only hope I have left in the St. Louis bracket, but I had them losing to Kentucky in the Elite 8. Wake Forest and Oklahoma St. are still good for me in the East Rutherford bracket, I had OK State in the Final Four getting beat by Kentucky. Duke is the only hope I have left in the Atlanta bracket, but I had them getting by UNC in the Elite 8. And then in the Phoenix bracket, UConn is the only hope I have left. They were my championship pick and even though I love Vandy, UConn needs to win so I can keep my pride:)! This has been one of my most unpredictable tournaments ever!

JustWrestle...Macon County schools are on a year-round calendar much like VTEC said Blount County was on. We use the 9-1, we get 2 weeks at Christmas, and 10 weeks in the summer. It's not that bad. Actually, it's not really that much different than the traditional system. Personally, I would like the 9-3 system. 3 weeks for Fall Break, 3 weeks for Christmas Break, 3 weeks for Spring Break, and 7 weeks in the summer. That would be just great. I don't see that happening here though, they like the 9-1 pretty well.

I only missed 2 games on Thursday, but since then I've gone ice cold. North Carolina hurt me really bad also. I just mispicked the upsets of the tournament. I never can pick the right upsets! Oh well, I've still got 3 Final Four teams left.

The Vanderbilt Commodores are headed to the SWEET 16 BABY!!! Yes, it is very sweet! They were down 10 with 2:44 left in the game. NC State fouled Matt Freije on two 3 point attempts during those last minutes, putting him at the line and he made all 6 of those free throws. He was 11 of 11 from the line today. He totalled 31 points to lead the Commodores. With a questionable intentional foul call, Corey Smith went to the line, made 2 free throws, and got the ball back. They put it in the hands of Freije and he connected again to put the Dores up 72-71. NC State hit two free throws to go up 1, then Super Mario Moore came down and with the nicest assist of his career dumped it off to Corey Smith for the layup and the foul. Vandy went up 75-73 and with a missed desperation 3 at the buzzer, Vandy is Phoenix bound to face off against Connecticut. Great job guys!

Mt. Pleasant, CPA, Temple, Pickett Co., they should all be contenders next year. Even though they were overrated this season, Red Boiling Springs looks to be good again next year. They get Matt Heady back from ACL surgery, Daniel Meador returns, and everyone but Pickett Co. and Westmoreland loses their guns in the region. Look for them to be contenders next season. Can't wait for basketball season to return...I miss it already!

Now Watcher....you sly dog you! I'd say Coe's chances of coming back will be slim, but yes she would be a great coach in my opinion. I'd say Painter's chances are pretty good, she is already employed within the school system. I think the system should wait around and see who applies for the job first...people within the system and also ones in the surrounding counties and search for the best credentials and someone who would help carry out the tradition that has been put in place in Clay County.

DOGPOUND...that is the one name that I have been thinking about for the job. Coach Smith has had great successes in his career. In his playing career, he played for Pickett Co. in high school then went on to play for the Bulldogs of Cumberland Univ. in college. In his coaching career, he took the RBS boys from 2 wins his first year to 16 wins in his 3rd and final year for the Bulldogs. He then went back home to Pickett Co. and took the Bobcats to back-to-back state tournament appearances. Pretty good credentials for the Clay County job. You are true that he would bring an intense feel to the program. He can get carried away very easily. Coach Smith stepped down this season to spend time with his new daughter Ellie. He still teaches at Pickett Co. I just wonder if he will even consider the job...could be interesting.

If you have the problem with bad headaches all of the time...you might want to read this little joke. The doctor said, "Joe, the good news is I can cure your headaches; the bad news is that it will require castration. You have a very rare condition, which causes your genitals to press on your spine, and the pressure creates one heck of a headache. The only way to relieve the pressure is to remove the genitals." Joe was shocked and depressed. He wondered if he had anything to live for. He couldn't concentrate long enough to answer, but decided he had no choice but to go under the knife. When he left the hospital he was without a headache for the first time in 20 years, but he felt like he was missing an important part of himself. As he walked down the street, he realized that he felt like a different person. He could make a new beginning and live a new life. He saw a men's clothing store and thought, "That's what I need - a new suit." He entered the shop and told the salesman, "I'd like a new suit." The elderly tailor eyed him briefly and said, "Let's see...size 44 long." Joe laughed, "That's right, how did you know?" "Been in the business over 60 years". Joe tried on the suit. It fit perfectly. As Joe admired himself in the mirror, the salesman asked, "How about a new shirt?" Joe thought for a moment and then said, "Sure." The salesman eyed Joe and said, "Let's see, 34 sleeve and 16-1/2 neck." Joe was surprised, "That's right, how did you know?" "Been in the business 60 years!", said the salesman. Joe tried on the shirt, and it fit perfectly. As Joe adjusted the collar in the mirror, the salesman asked, "How about some new shoes?" Joe was on a roll and said, "Sure." The salesman eyed Joe's feet and said, "Let's see...9-1/2E." Joe was astonished, "That's right, how did you know?" Again, the salesman said, "Been in the business 60 years!" Joe tried on the shoes and they fit perfectly. Joe walked comfortably around the shop and the salesman asked, "How about some new underwear?" Joe thought for a second and said, "Sure." The salesman stepped back, eyed Joe's waist and said, "Let's see...size 36." Joe laughed "Ah ha! I got you! I've worn size 34 since I was 18 years old" The salesman shook his head, "You can't wear a size 34. A 34 underwear would press your genitals up against the base of your spine and give you one heck of a headache.."
