  1. But who have they played besides Fulton & A-E? Besides Fulton & A-E, all of the AA teams they played have losing records. Total w/l of combined teams on schedule: 46-54. Not stellar stats. On a decent field, A-E cakewalks out of this game. I saw a replay of the reg. season game on tv; I can't believe TSSAA (or whoever decides) allowed the game to be played on that field. I would have rather played it on a field with a sinkhole!
  2. Great point! Our boys are very capable of winning this game! GO CHARGERS!!!! With using paydirt's logic (which really is ridiculous to use!), try this one: CAK: 7 Alcoa: 24 MC: 7 Alcoa: 49 Would look like MC doesn't have a chance. Would love to see the upset (sorry CAK), but don't think it's going to happen.
  3. Yep, my mom was going to take us to see the goat man, so we piled in the station wagon and started down the road. Had a flat tire...guess it just wasn't meant for us to see him that night. Major disappointment for a young person.
  4. AE's season is finally on Death Watch....The clock is ticking shelled one. Tick-Tock. Hilarious! One of your best yet!
  5. Looks like somebody is jealous of the valley teams. Cumberland Co over that's right they are playing basketball. Polk over Alcoa. Thanks for the love but the cats play best in the underdog role so keep calling us overrated. Alcoa 49 McMinn Central 7, Polk 49 Central 12 it could be a good game. Polk beat Bledsoe bad last year but Bledsoe has made great strides this year (congrads) but I still think Polk and Loudon are very comparable and think Loudon has the best chance for round 1 upset. Wow. What a contradiction. Polk & Loudon are comparable so Alcoa & Polk would be a good game, yet Alcoa beat Loudon 21-0 on a very bad "down" night. Let's look at your reasoning: CAK over Loudon: 24-0; Alcoa over Loudon: 21-0. By your reasoning, the Alcoa/CAK game should've been really close, yet the score was: Alcoa over CAK: 24-7. (Sorry, Warrior fans, not meaning to be insensitive!) The point is, you can't look at the scores of the games and make predictions if you don't know circumstances that happened during the game. IF Loudon & Polk should win their first game and meet in the second round, I would take Loudon in the upset due to Loudon's tough schedule (Loudon's schedule strength rating: 78, Polk's: 99). Loudon hasn't gotten a lot of respect lately due to the district they're in. They're a good ball team, very physical. I'll say Loudon will get not just 1 upset, but 2.
  6. I don't know that we're becoming "overly cocky". There are those of us who know that an upset could happen any Friday, especially with this new format. The road this far has definitely been tougher for us than in the past couple of years. The ones who you may think are "overly cocky" are just having fun. Most of us just take it one game at a time. GO TORNADOES!!!
  7. And who might "us" be? Alcoa knocked Tyner out of the playoffs in the semis in '05, but it's obvious you're not a Tornado fan. Looking back at the schedules, York Inst. squeaked by Tyner in '06 by 1 td. In '07 Tyner lost in the 2nd round to DCA (who lost to Alcoa in the semis), and last year they lost in the 1st round in what must have been a heartbreaker. GO TORNADOES!
  8. Kicking game goes to McMinn Central. I don't know that we saw a better punter/kicker this season. As for CAK, if the Chargers can apply pressure and get to the kicker, the punts can be blocked. We could have had a couple of blocked punts on Friday if our boys had been told to go after it (IMO). MC will give CAK a good game, but the Warriors will pull this one out.
  9. All of the whining and crying about the bracket leads me to 1 conclusion: Some people aren't as confident in their team as they should be/pretend to be.
  10. The TSSAA has humbled themselves by apologizing. It is what it is. No amount of griping and whining is going to change anything this year. Let's move on!
  11. No, the only 6th seed playing a 3 seed is Lewis County. I still don't understand how a team who is 3-7 not only gets a playoff berth, but doesn't have an 8th seed. Harpeth (#6) against #5 Pearl Cohn, Cumberland Gap (#6) against Elizabethton (#1), and Tyner (#6) against Alcoa (#1).
  12. Hey, you never know. The "unapproved website" has A-E winning by 1 point. They're pretty accurate. Could be anybody's game!
  13. Here's another question: How in the world does a 3-7 team make the playoffs? There should be some rule that if a team doesn't have a winning season they are denied post-season play. Give that wildcard to someone who deserves it without taking into consideration geographical location. If there are no other wildcards with a winning season, then look for teams who have a 5-5 season, but only as a last resort. This is crazy...might as well give the other team a bye that first week.
  14. According to TSSAA website: "All BlueCross Bowl state championship games will be played at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, TN. The Division II BlueCross Bowl state championship games are to begin on December 3 at 3:30 p.m. (CT) (Class A) and 3:30 p.m. (CT) (Class AA). The Division I BlueCross Bowl Class 1A, 3A and 5A championship games are to start at 12:00 p.m. (CT), 3:30 p.m. (CT) and 7:00 p.m. (CT), respectively on December 4. Kickoff for the Class 2A championship game is 12:00 p.m. (CT), followed by the 4A game at 3:30 p.m. (CT) and 6A game at 7:00 p.m. (CT) on December 5." Bummer...part of the state championship game is spending the night and eating b'fast with other fans. This will put a damper on the game (if we continue to win, that is). GO TORNADOES!
  15. Can't wait to see the replay of this game to see if the officiating was as bad as it looked at first sight. I think we were penalized more last night than we had been the rest of the games put together. I find it hard to believe that the other officials were taking it easy on us during the other games. I know the refs have a tough job. Does anybody know where they came from? Someone asked about the scores of past games: in 2008, Alcoa won by 21 in reg. season, 14 in post; in 2007: 17 & 35; in 2006: 42 & 43, in 2005: 49 & 35. As far as the trash: One way to minimize the trash is to have garbage cans as you're going out, as well has having them strategically situated in the stands. I don't remember seeing any as I went out of the stadium. As for the confetti: just be glad we didn't score more, or else there would have been more! Seriously, though, I'll agree that the confetti is a bit much. I've had to sit near the people who throw it a few times, and it's a pain getting that off my clothes & body when I get home. Disappointed to hear about the alcohol; I don't think we have that problem when we play at home. Saying that, if CAK wants to play the "big games" like last night, you may want to think about more visitors' stands. I got to the game around 6:15 and had a really hard time finding a seat. That place was packed that early. Great atmosphere for high school ball, except that pregame music was just a little too loud. I could barely hear the person next to me talk. CAK played a good game, our defense was just too physical and too tough for them. Was proud of our defense for defending the pass. Was also proud that when CAK made the 1st td, our boys didn't get upset or deflated, they just went out and took care of business. Congrats to CAK for winning the 1st quarter, but it takes 4 to win a ballgame. Anxious to see the brackets this morning, looks like there may be a chance we won't meet again until Thanksgiving weekend, if we both win out. Again, congrats to CAK for a game well-played, and good luck in the playoffs.
  16. Yes I did, but having the "same pattern" doesn't equate into the "same result" when you are plugging in different levels of talent. Come on now TG, you know better. Yes, but I thought I'd try to slip one in on ya!
  17. Bridge, I like to reminisce as much as the next guy, but those guys are gone. Not to name drop or anything, but as my friend Montgomery Gentry would say.... Gone like a freight train, gone like yesterday, gone like a soldier in the Civil War, bang bang, gone, gone, gone, gone. But, FBD, didn't you say: "And while each team has its own individual personality to some degree, they usually follow the same patterns as long as the same coaching staff is there. The numbers may have changed, but Alcoa still runs the same defense & offense, just as CAK does." HMMMMMM.... GO TORNADOES!!!!
  18. FBD: No disrespect is taken. We can agree to disagree; it's alright. I think Alcoa does respect CAK, we know they're always a threat. In years past, if CAK had played other teams (mainly Loudon) like they had played Alcoa that same year, they would have beat them. Anyway, here's to a good game with no injuries on Friday. GO TORNADOES!
  19. My gut tells me that at some point, CAK will beat Alcoa. It will be a year when Alcoa is down when compared to recent years, and, with the program that CAK is building, they are up. Unless, of course, they move to DII when the recruiting picks up! I just don't think it will be this year, however. It doesn't sound like too many CAK fans are thinking on those lines, either. Lou Holtz would be proud!
  20. I would have to disagree that all the pressure is on Alcoa. CAK has yet to beat Alcoa, has yet to win a district title. Every year's team is different; so, no, CAK hasn't really met this Alcoa team yet. In 2 recent games, Alcoa's opponent has scored a touchdown after our 1st 2, so, no, I don't think there will be any doubt if the game is close for a while. These boys know they can win, and take the games one at a time. I do find it funny that noone among the CAK faithful has ventured to make a prediction. Perhaps there is quite a bit of doubt there?
  21. You can't look at the Loudon scores and make a prediction. There were "circumstances" during the Alcoa/Loudon game that held the score down: 1) The game was held at Loudon (LHS played CAK @ CAK)...I don't need to say anything else on that. 2) The 1st quarter was obviously shortened when the clock messed up and ran continuously. 3) That was Alcoa's worst game this season; coming off of a big win from Maryville, plus the kids had been out of school that week due to illness, which brings me to: 4) Illness on the team. I don't know what the circumstances were during the Loudon/CAK game, but, you can't look at the score and make a prediction from that. Sorry, CAK; Alcoa rolls again in this one: 35-7.
  22. Love the recruiting the KNS is doing for CAK.
  23. I know I"m getting suckered into this conversation by a complete moron who obviously doesn't know anything about Alcoa. ACS is very picky about the tuition kids who are allowed to come to the school system. Kids whose parents are city employees get 1st choice, but they still have to prove themselves. Tuition kids are held to a higher standard than kids that live in the city. If they get in trouble or don't keep their grades up, they're out, and it doesn't matter who you are. Rankin proved that a couple of years ago by busting a senior starter. For those who don't live in Alcoa, you don't know how hard it is to find a decent house in the city that doesn't cost a quarter of a mil. Literally, you have to wait 'til somebody dies and know somebody who is related to that person. As far as I know, Maryville doesn't have tryouts for their team, so anyone from anywhere can join the squad as well. If you think MHS doesn't accept tuition students, think again. Tornadoes continue to roll on Friday...the boys will be completely focused. Looking forward to a good game!
