  1. Thank you for your kind words. Through the last few years I have always been impressed with your love of MBA but also your love of D2 football in Tennessee....also for being objective about it. I have noticed the threads concerning Ensworth vs MBA and the negative turn it seems to take. I have wondered if it is because Ensworth is so new and trying too hard to create the rivarly (if that makes sense) or because of the close ties to Ensworth, the coaching situation, players changing, etc. Not sure what it is...but I certainly hope it changes in years to come. However, I have always appreciated the way you represent your school this many years later as a gentleman....because like it or not....the way we post can be seen through others eyes as a reflection of our school. Yes, Baylor and McCallie joined MBA in having artificial turf. It looks fantastic....but even though I don't want to watch and sit out in rain to see a game....it is fun to watch players play in the mud. I really enjoy watching NFL games (from the comfort of my home) with snow just pouring down. If MBA gets a large lead tomorrow night maybe you can switch your internet game for a few minutes to the Baylor/McCallie game. Go Baylor!
  2. MBA's kicker sounds like he has a great future ahead of him. You are right....you don't usually have to worry much in high school about 50+ yard field goals. Hope he has a few colleges looking at him.
  3. tornadofan10, I will agree with you about the venue and playing on campus...as you said you just can't duplicate the atmosphere at Finley. The place packed, a sea of red and blue. And so close to the action. I will just let your other statements go and not respond. That being said, I think this game has all the makings of the same barn burner from 2008 at Baylor. This time I think we will have a different outcome. Turnovers will need to be kept to a minimum for sure. Go Baylor! Baylor 24 McCallie 17
  4. That's another reason not to send your kids to those two schools. Grandmommies and granddaddies care about seeing their offsprings kids name in the paper. bcb iii You are probably kidding. Baylor has really never in soccer put stats in the paper. I can see both sides but it is a team sport and players that are just as important as goals scored leaders, assist leader and goalie stats are just as big a part of the team without the opportunity to have their importance measured by a stat. This is a team sport. What about the great defenders that do a great job and are responsible for as much as the others.....but there is not a stat for them. I think at the end of the day the stats are very skewed and you can't tell alot about them. I think the more important stat is who goes to the playoffs, etc. A player had much rather see the season extended I believe rather than their name in the paper but their season has ended. As for Baylor their Grandparents can go to the school website daily and go to red raider recap. Each game has writeups and pictures to see. They do a fantastic job on every game. They also send in write ups for the chattanoogan.com. GPS does the same as well.
  5. This will be Baylor's first out of town road trip this year. Last year's meeting between MBA and the Red Raiders was a defensive struggle with MBA winning either 17-3 or 14-3...short memory but either way not alot of scoring. I think this year will be different on offense with alot of points potentially going up. MBA is always well coached and they will be prepared. Baylor is playing with alot of confidence but realizes that anytime you play at MBA you have a fight on you hands. I look forward to the trip to MBA and tailgating with my fellow fans. Baylor 28 MBA 24
  6. Bluemom, I agree with you. McCallie will be a big underdog against Ensworth just like Baylor will be a big underdog when traveling to Ensworth. But upsets happen every week and that is why we play the game. So I would go ahead and order those cokes for concessions and cheer your team on. Your coach will have his team as prepared as possible to put up a great fight.
  7. ND vs Houston........3 pts Houston CCS vs Signal Mtn....1pt. CCS Soddy vs McMinn Co...1 pt. Soddy Cleveland vs Ooltewah..2 pts. Ooltewah GPS vs Ensworth......2pts. Ensworth Baylor vs Collierville...2pts. Baylor
  8. I was surprised when I heard the score. Tough loss for Tyner in the closing minutes....but nice comeback win for McCallie.
  9. Nelson is a tremendous athlete and being just a sophomore he has a great future ahead of him. As for Baylor's ground game against BGA I know that Huesman had over 150 yards, Pinkstaff had around 80 and not sure about others. Sam Williams again did not play but is expected back in a couple of weeks if all goes well.
  10. Unfortunately in the Chattanooga area most 4A and 5A programs will not schedule Baylor and McCallie. Tyner is one of the few that does this often. Red Bank's coach was quoted in last year's paper as saying he would not play Baylor....that they would have nothing to gain from it. Same stories with other top local high school football programs. East Ridge scheduled Baylor for two years but only if both games was played at ER. They needed the gate. This is why Baylor and McCallie have to play teams from out of state to fill the schedule. So when a team like Tyner steps up to play us it is great. So I don't know the answer....but it is certainly not that Baylor and McCallie would not like to play the local 4A and 5A powers. It would be wonderful to be able to establish more hometown rivalries but I don't see it happening. by Redtwin » Mon Sep 07, 2009 11:32 am .Tyner has certainly had some good teams over the years (hard not to with Demonte Bolden) but their record is misleading. They're still a 2A school and have had limited historical success against teams from higher classifications. Just my opinion, but the DII teams should stick to scheduling what used to be 4A and 5A DI programs.
  11. Nelson has filled in extremely well for Sam no doubt. But like another poster said with Sam....he is just such a threat everytime he touches the ball. Blazing speed. Nelson has done so well though and to be just a sophomore he has played great. The BGA game should be another classic game between the two schools.
  12. You may be right as it is very early in the season but I do see a more confident Baylor team this year. The heart of the schedule is coming up however and we really need to get Sam Williams back. With that being said though....our backups (sophomore Pinkstaff) has performed extremely well. I feel that 1-3 from the east/middle has to be MBA, Ensworth and BA in no certain order. Unfortunatley for Baylor....we have to travel to each site this year. Never understood scheduling but to have all 3 on the road in one season will be quite a chore to say the least. After those 3.....it is too early to say but I think Baylor has a very good chance around 4-5. The BGA game will tell alot as will the MBA and Ensworth game. Nothing like Friday nights in the fall. Go Baylor!
  13. You are right in saying that Baylor has lost 2 heartbreakers to BGA in back to back years. My prediction is only based on how Baylor has performed so far this year. Without having seen BGA or their opponents I really don't know anything about them....except it is always a fight when we play BGA. As for Baylor they have looked very strong to date in blanking FRA 40-0 and beating Tyner 41-6 last night. Last night's win was without last years leading rusher in D2 Sam Williams. Nelson filled in extremely well for him though and hopefully Sam will be back soon. I expect another good Baylor vs BGA game. My prediction is Baylor 28 BGA 17. Travel safe to the game.
  14. Maybe I am missing something here....but there were quite a few Baylor players left off this list. I believe this was just Baylor's 2nd of 3rd year of competitive Lacrosse. I have 1st Team all state on Long Stick Mid Field....Matt Tidwell of Baylor 2nd Team Isaac Garner and Sam Ector from Baylor both Attack 2nd Team Midfield Austin Cole from Baylor 2nd Team Defender Nichols Millard from Baylor
  15. Running back Sam Williams from Baylor. He is an amazing runner with blazing speed. Led all of D2 football last year in rushing.
  16. Being a Chattanoogan I was pulling for the local team....CCS but congratulations to Alcoa on a huge victory on their fantastic win. I don't know if the goalie made a great save on the pk miss....but whatever happened my heart goes out to that young man. So much pressure on these kids and you just hate that. Congrats Akula!
  17. I can't remember for sure but how many finals in a row has CBHS been to....isn't it 3 or 4? They are a powerhouse for sure. Two years ago losing to Baylor for the championship and last year losing to Father Ryan. I don't think I am going out on a limb at all and saying that this will finally be the year that Christian Brothers wins state.
  18. Cleveland has a very strong team. I have only seen Cleveland play once....against my team (Baylor) and was very impressed with them. I hope the Blue Raiders can win it all this year. Good luck.
  19. Congratulations to Alcoa and Akula! I was at the Baylor vs Alcoa game and although it was early in the season....it really looked like Alcoa could have a special season. I have always enjoyed reading akula's posts for sure. Good luck in the games ahead.

    Catholic & CAK

Wow....must have been a fantastic game. Congrats to CAK for a huge win in a huge rivalry!
  21. Seems like this thread took a wrong turn somewhere...but that happens alot. Like Spike...I am also a D2 soccer fan from Chattanooga but follow all that I can. Being close to the Cleveland area I really hope they have a great postseason. Congratulations on the ranking and hope you guys go far!
  22. You are right....typical Baylor McCallie game. As always full of spirit, alot of color.....just a great show as always. But I would only say Baylor is weak because of being young I suppose. Baylor lost a "ton of seniors" last year and has struggled somewhat this year. But they have played with alot of heart and have continued to improve. Considering the strong senior class that McCallie has....I thought Baylor played them extremely well with the 1-0 loss and had their chances. I hope that they get to play again in the playoffs. Just another great game in this series.
  23. Nice win for Hixson. Good luck in the playoffs.
  24. Baylor played a very good game and shut out a good SE Whitfield (ga) team 3-0. Curtis Blair has this young team playing much better and is improving each game.
