  1. and they say Cocke Co. doesnt produce any athletes....
  2. Given the state of affairs of the Cocke County program, I'm surprised we haven't seen more boys from Newport enroll in Greeneville... his enrollment has nothing to do with the "state of affairs" of the cocke co program...
  3. william grew up in cocke co and played 1 year over in NC. he is a stud, and i will be really surprised if he isn't the best impact player on Greeneville's team
  4. I could be wrong, but I would say that this is the year to beat Alcoa IF you can. If Milan does happen to win, they better really enjoy it cause I'm pretty sure that Alcoa will be even better next year and in the near future.
  5. Everyone has been saying that if someone is going to beat Maryville, this is the year to do it. If Henry County's best team ever beats one of Maryville's worst teams in recent memory, I don't think too many people will be surprised.
  6. First and foremost, we lack fast players at the skill positions to keep up. It's rare for us to play a game against a slower team. Some of the best athletes in Cocke Co. choose to only play basketball and/or baseball. For a school that has numerous kids to choose from, this wouldn't be a problem. But, we are not privileged in that regard. Everyone has their own opinion as to where the problem lies. With the numbers and talent dwindling as they are now, I believe that it would be hard to win even if Spurrier was still in Newport. We have to find a way to motivate our students to play and have pride in good ol' fashioned Cocke Co. football.
  7. if they both make it that far, William Blount will stop them. If not WB, then Farragut will. Mark it down!
  8. William Blount should definitely be in the top 5. They lost by 1 point to Maryville (the #9 team in the NATION) and if they hadn't missed 3 extra points, they would have beaten them. Their other loss was to Farragut. They went for 2 at the end of game and got stopped on the 1 yard line. They lost that game by 1. If you are fortunate enough to make it deep in the playoffs, you might find out just how good WB is.
  9. I am definitely not looking for your posts. The only threads I read are the ones involving CC. I would prefer to read posts that actually have something to do with the topic. We know Greeneville beat us, as did Jeff Co., Walker Valley, etc. There's no point in constantly bringing it up though. You take football seasons one game at a time, and then you move on. When I "crawl out" from under my rock, it's when I actually get the time off of work to do so. I follow CC as much as I can, but it's hard to do on a constant basis. Obviously, some people have nothing better to do.
  10. Look who's back. Man I've missed your valuable contributions to the Cocke County threads! If Greeneville "laid the wood" on them in the 1st quarter, and CC didn't get winded till after the 1st quarter, then the problem did not lie with the conditioning. Greeneville is simply a better team. Back to the Morristown East/CC game........
  11. The fall of '98 was an awesome game. I was a DE and Upton was bigger than me. Needless to say, he ran all over us. I was thinking that he had closer to 350 yards. We had 2 really good running backs in our backfield too: Bubba White and Dan Hammonds. I think our QB Jason Grimes was the 3rd guy with 100+ yards rushing. Ahhh, the good ole days....
  12. Barb, I am sorry that I don't have time to count the other CC threads, much less reread them. I am usually somewhere called 'work'. When I did get the chance to read posts during, let's say, basketball season, I was rather distracted by the satisfaction you apparently get from arguing with PTS Sportswriter and disrespecting Cocke County. Greeneville is the mecca of high school athletics, so there is no point in trying to be proud of our teams. Everyone knows that the Devils are the best thing since sliced bread, so please give it a rest. It deeply saddens me that this will probably be the last post I have for a while. I am not privileged enough to check these forums every 30 minutes. Good luck Patriots! Give 'em heck Cocke County!
  13. Barb, you are probably the only non-Cocke County fan that has something to say in every single CC thread..... more often than not, something in a condescending manner. Thank you so much for reminding the CC faithful of Greeneville's superiority in everything. It truly is a blessing to have your input regarding our teams. Back to the JC/CC game: I know this is a rivalry game and anything can happen. However, Cocke County is really struggling right now. Unfortunately, I believe that most of what occurs on the field will be to the Patriots' liking. Good luck to both teams, and hopefully we can renew this rivalry in a respectable manner.
  14. Where are all the Blount County fans? (besides in bed)
