  1. Come on, let's stay on the topic. Amputees need to be discussed in a new thread! Thats a whole nother thing all together. I would like more info on "riders" theories. I am interested in how to teach my pitchers to throw a variety of pitches from several arm slots. This might be an extreme thought, but "riders" might be the founder of a whole new concept. His ideas could advance the game more than "rotational hitting." I mean, I used to try to teach some cyphering and I think 6 pitches from 5 arm slots would be what, somewhere between 25 - 35 various pitches a hitter would have to think about. This would be impossible to prepare for and "guess" hitters would be outta luck. Riders, do you have any drills to properly develop the various slots that you can expound on?
  2. I am sorry to hear about E5's decision on elective surgery. He probably hopes they lengthen more than his body! Ha ha! Maybe he can pay us a visit during his recovery. I have seen him recently myself but he was on the other side of the infield. I hope he decides to share some of his expertise with us soon.
  3. Hey 6-4-3, you obviously don't understand or appreciate the beauty of E5's response. Those of us who regularly monitor the baseball threads always look forward to input from E5. The responses are not only entertaining, but very informative. Why, I was so excited when I first saw your post that I instantly began to salivate in anticipation of a possible reply by E5. If you had responded to him with a modicum of appreciation, all of us could have had much more to look forward to. However, E5 will probably feel under appreciated now and refuse to give us any more of his valuable insight! E5, if you aren't already giving up on this thread, please share more of your wisdom and techniques that you have developed and acquired over your years of experience. We know that developing young pitchers is one of your speciality areas in addition to how position your rover.
  4. I hope that Harriman fella is gone from Lebanon. He really gets things stirred up when is into the game! He modified the bucket/seat to raise it up a little. He was having some breathing problems while sitting on the short bucket in the dugout. He also began carrying an assortment of knee braces. He said that way he was prepard to play in kind of knee injury from torn tendaments to pulled ham strain. E5, if you do track him down, please give me a heads up.

    HITTING

CC, I think I need to clarify my previous statement. I did not mean that this type of hitting philosophy was new. I know there have been rotational hitters from the creation of baseball. I was simply trying to push E5 as the new age guru of rotational hitting because I am a "follower" of his. He is the almighty when it comes to rotational hitting. I did not want to believe it when he first started professing this "new" philisophy, but like he told Pujo, I checked it out myself and now I'm a believer. I am still learning and would love to attend one of E5's sessions at the next clinic or get his videos and books, when they become available. I have all of Epstein's stuff, but I think E5 would be able to explain it on my level.

    HITTING

Look out Pujo!!!!! E5 has dropped the rotational bomb! I to am a believer now that I researched the facts and saw the proof in photos and videos. Most old school coaches don't want to accept it because it is different, but E5 is new age all the way. I digress. Rotational hitting is the now and future. It's all about matching the plane of the swing to the plane of the pitch and letting the hips lead the hands. I am sure E5 can explain it in much more detail. I am a recent convert and am still learning the intracacies of this method.
  7. E5, I read, with great interest, all of your ideas on developing submarine pitchers and you had several good techniques. So I am certain you would have several ideas on how to get your hindcatcher to make the throw to 2nd without throwing it so fast and close to the ground. What drills and practice equipment would I need to get my catcher throwing the long toss to 2nd with the hump in the middle?
  8. Stategery advice needed. E5, if you were coaching against "Backside Bill" and were utilizing the left handed shortstopsmen, would he be more effective if slipped into the "Rover" position? I have considered this move, especially against left handed hitters. I think by making this shift, I could play him between the pitcher and the 3rd base line. Thus, freeing up the the 3rd baseman to back up the hindcatcher on base hits in the gap and allowing the picher to become the relay man. What do you think of this strategery?
  9. E5, You might want to be careful with those burritos or you might need a good supply of Fruit of the Looms and some new sheepskin seat covers!
