  1. Both big guys are great linmen and the mention of weight was more a reference to the hype the line has gotten due to size. The new starters have to be able to execute their bread and butter traps for this team to be successful. They can throw the ball down the fieled if TED will let them. Game will be determined by 2 big things. Can EH stop the SM running game? Can EH run the ball well enough to call pass plays when they don't have to. All TD's last year came on long runs and bubble screens and long runs. SM will load the box and play tight cover 2 and force EH to throw deep. If they can't do that the game will go to SM as well as few other opponents that will use the same game plan. Just Saying!
  2. Don't know what fishheadspin is drinking but EH will not have the best D in town. SM will expose their biggest weakness being the D line. Sands won't be able to play both ways very long and there is big drop off behind him. EH O line is also overweighted (rated) due to key plays being traps and new linemen not close to same as last year. All backs are 165 lbs and will not be able to run inside effectively like last year. When SM stuffs up the middle and makes EH throw the ball down field they will also be in trouble. QB had great stats last year but most of yardage was gained with 5-10 yd passes and big runs. Gatewood does not have a vertical passing game plan and if SM stops between tackle runs and bubble screens EH will struggle. Big plays and turnovers will rule the night in a close SM victory. Just Saying!
  3. MTSU and Benny, Benny, Benny. Owls will be flying all over the field!
  4. Why would Ooltewah want to Play a team that had only freshman and sophmores? Nothing to gain and not very fair. As to losing coaches- Henderson was the only coach that was getting a supplement. Coach Gatewood was a volunteer. Don't worry, Benny always has a plan and I'm sure a long list of coaches who would love to come to OHS. If you havn't noticed he probably had the most experienced coaching staff in the Southeast. Not including Gatewood you had 4 coaches with 25-30 years experience. OHS will be in good shape for a long time to come!
  5. As I mentioned before. Please ask the Ooltewah administartion, which by the way Mr Foster is on the TSSAA board, about anyone being eigible. It is not right or fair but that is what they told me. I agree with you on how it should be. It would set EHH back at least 2 years to have a chance in winning a game.
  6. Please go to the Ooltewah game tonight and ask the Ooltewah Athletic director if they wll be eligible. There are no rules that apply to new schools. The same TSSAA rule applies to all. Except PJ of course. The signal Mountain team played JV this year so everyone is eligible to play!
  7. If they go varsity the first year any player that is now zoned for EHH will not be eligible to play any Varsity sport that they played at Ooltewah. This will almost eliminate any athlete from coming except incoming freshman. If the TSSAA places EHH in 4A because of zoned students instead of actual enrolled students they should change the transfer rule. My suggestion is they allow the PJ rule the first year so anyone, anywhere, anytime can come and play right away.
  8. I heard that PJ's dad is already negotiating with Bill Price at Signal Mountain for PJ to be the star. He wants atleast 20 carries a game and his name mentioned in every Signal Mountain news article. He also wants to break the TSSAA record for 6 schools in 6 years. Baylor, Hunter, Ooltewah,Tyner,Soddy, Signal Mtn. All while living at the same address!
  9. The Holding call was on Brian Marshall in the backfield. The BIG problem with the call is how it was made. When the QB rolled outside the end Marshall blocked the end. The ball was delivered to the receiver and he broke a tackle a ran down to the 8 as you stated. The White Cap (Which was standing 5 yards from me) did not drop a flag until the receiver was around the Blount 20 yard line. Go back a get your film and stop watch and hit play. THIS is why Ooltewah was so upset. If it was holding as he called why didn't he call it when it was made. Why is this white cap banned from any Heritage or Maryville games? Good question? Bottom Line: In any close ball game any one play can make the difference in winning or losing. Ooltewah might not have even scored on that last drive but Mr White Cap made sure they didn't get a chance.
  10. Who was the kid that only played 2 plays. Don't you think that if this kid would have said something to his position coach he would have been in there more. Remember the rule- There's no crying in Football!!
  11. I think that Stump and his crew invites the players to participate in the game. As you can see not everyone that is invited is playing due to alot of reasons. The problem I have seen is they do not have enough players at certain positions. The OL only has 6 on the Tn team. Ooltewah has alot of players because they had alot of talented seniors. They have players that were not even full time starters that look as good as anyone out there. Two of their top seniors are not playing, Michael Welch (LB) due to surgery and Jensen Morgan (?). Team Tn would be alot better with both of these. Bottom Line- Not matter who is playing on Team Tn Benny Monroe and the Ooltewah staff will have them ready to play.

    RED BANK?

Brag when you beat a good team. OHS or Red Bank won't make it out of the region! The Chattanooga area won't have anyone in the Boro this year.
  13. I don't think it was a case of anyone hitting well it was a case of the Owls defense couldn't play dead in a cowboy movie. Second baseman had 4 errors in two inninngs. When you don't throw strikes and you don't make routine plays you will not beat good or most bad teams. Last night was the worst performance I have seen from an Ooltewah baseball team in the last 5 years. Based on the team that is being put on the field right now I do not see them better than 500 this year. They need to rethink thier stategy of living off the 3 run homer and learn to play a little small ball.
  14. Every game that the Owls play and the bats are not hot they will lose. The Coach will no longer be able to fill out a line up card and his job is done. (Like last year). Pitching and defense will not get them out of the Region this year. If you do not work on these areas how do you expect to get better. Too many players playing the wrong positions. As the season goes on everyone will see the many ways to beat the owls. Good teams that don't play team ball will get beat by bad teams that do. If you went to Spring Fling last year you would agree that good pitching and good defense can beat any good hitting team. Nobody expected to go undefeated but the last two losses should show this team that hitting alone dosn't win championships. They either work on small ball or its going to be a long season.
  15. Jeremy Woods signed with Tennessee Tech. A program that is on the way up and not out with a great head coach in Watson Brown that runs a wide open no huddle offense. I don't think UTC even came to the school. I guess Ooltewah just didn't have any talent. They just won 13 games on luck.
  16. Both should be home games. I also think Whites Creek come 2 years in a row.
  17. Why don't you get yourself a new football coach and then ask him if he will play Ooltewah the next few years. I am SURE that you do not speak for anyone at the McCallie athletic dept. As for Ed Foster. He was on the board that made the decision to split public and private. I am sure that if he makes a decision to play or not play a private school he has alot of history to back up this decision. As for Ooltewah not playing someone because they might get beat!!! I have had several kids that played in the OHS program and I know they would have loved to be able to play McCallie in every sport (Like they did in baseball) They grew up playing with alot of the Mccallie players in football and baseball and would have loved shutting people like you up by settling this on the field. I am SURE you played alot of downs on the field at McCallie and are an expert on the game of football or you might just be one of the frat boys that sit in the stands in their kacky pants and tie and say they can beat everybody. Makes alot of sense to me too!!!
  18. Your correct about the QB selection Jeremy Woods of Ooltewah does not make all state???? 121/193 - Passing - 63% 1992 yards - 18 TD - 4 int lead team to 13-1 record. Lets ask all of the playoff opponent if he should have been all state Against Smryna - 430 yds passing. With atleast 100 yds in drops
  19. Why don't you yahoos go and ask your coaches who has and has not asked them to play. Unless you are just some pimple faced kid that lives behind a screen and does not have any idea about the who/what/and why you can and cannot play somebody. There is alot more to scheduling than filling out a date. I don't think gate $$ from the visiting team makes any difference to OHS. We fill it up with our own fans. There were many phone calls made before those dates were filled. By the way, Whites Creek is coming to OHS two years in a row. As a fan I look forward to playing different teams. So goes ask your man in charge and then make an educated comment. I'm sure your right there in the office answering all the coaches phone calls.
  20. I'm glad someone at WB has a little class. To Quote your classy coach as he walked out the door from the region 2-5A banquet last Saturday. " I'm glad they got their buts beat by Smyrna". This was right in front of my wife and several OHS players. Class- Class -Class From the TOP to Bottom- Nothing but Class at the WB And Don't worry- The biggest circle on the OHS schedule next year will be the WB game.
  21. Even better, They are both great players and will both be playing somewhere on Sat. Let them settle the debate next year on the field. Marshall will get his chance to run even more next year unless the little Woods skips elementary school and goes straight to OHS.
  22. Jeremy Woods Passing- 121 / 193- - 63% 1992 yds 18 TD - 4 int Lead team to 13-1 record
  23. The only way this will be settled from now on is by watching them on Saturday's. Is Sterling getting any serious offers? Does he have the grades.
  24. The Ooltewah schedule is all but filled: Whites Creek Maplewood Red Bank- If they will commit- The offer has been issued. This will settle the other debates. As for Mccallie, Bring it on. I think we play them in everything else. Ask BJ how it went last year when he had to face them on the mound.
