  1. He should be listing as signing with Vanderbilt not Tennessee. It's been that way for months, would figure it would've been changed by now.
  2. Science Hill Bradley White Station Whites Creek Raleigh Egypt Franklin Powell Oakland
  3. That line about Thomas was completely out of the line, ill-informed, and just plain pathetic. First, what does him being white have a thing to do with it. Second, a QB in the Wing-T with the waggle is generally going to get more carries than the running back and two guys combining for nearly 2,600 yards is hardly indictative in the decline of talent. Not to mention when possibly 1-3 OL's could be NCAA D1 players after next year.
  4. BA's Chris Jordan and Smyrna's Rod Wilks will be among the top ones.
  5. Hmm, okay, but it would be great to actually hear about the game rather than read a bunch of spelling mistakes and someones college scouting rundown of a basketball coaching staff. How about something about the actual game and the players in particular.
  6. Wing. Leslie McDonald- Briarcrest Forward. Zeke Mason- CPA Forward. Ferrkohn Hall- MUS Wing. John Jenkins- Station Camp Point. Tavarres Jefferson- Ensworth Wing. Blake Jenkins- Bearden C/F. Johnny Williams- MUS Point. Gentry Hines- Raleigh Egypt Forward. Drew Kelley- Centennial Wing. Marlon Brown- Harding Academy
  7. Prattville finished 15-0. Their quarterback, Larry Smith is a career 36-2 as the Lions starter. Larry Smith has committed to Vanderbilt. Their defensive tackle, Nick Gentry, has committed to Alabama. They have some juniors that will likely be D1A prospects next year, and had some seniors who only their height stopped them from being bigger D1A prospects. Watching the game, I believe Prattville was the better team and had equally the same amount of athletes and standout players. And it shouldn't have been as close as it was.
  8. Theron Kadri DE/LB 6-foot-3, 245 pounds Brighton High has committed to Vanderbilt.
  9. Funny you say Mark Rypien, cause he didn't necessarily come from a football power house himself.
  10. Wow, McNine, you brought back some memories talking about Jay Gilmore, Waller, and Crocker. Jay was a great guy, good athlete and it was fun watching him go from playing against me in senior league and summer league baseball to being the QB during my sophomore-junior year at AHS. I graduated in 1996 from AHS and yes, there was much complaining by us as to the location that they had decided on for the new school. Of course, we seniors that year graduated from the old school, so it didn't matter to us, but my younger sister had to go from the Blue Hole Road AHS to the Hobson one from her freshmen to sophomore year and my family lived off of Apache Trail/Cimarron Way. It sounds like had they done this new school then, she wouldn't have had to go so far to go to school. I so remember the 96 season well by the way, cause not only was it my senior year at AHS but I had to cover most of the games for the school newspaper too, I'll never forget some of those games. Charles Key was on the wrestling team with me at AHS too. He was also a real good athlete. Anyways, this new school sounds very interesting and from a sports stand point, I'll be very interested to see how things develop. Good to see more AHS people from around my time frame.
  11. Congrats to Tamar. He was a great player and a good kid too.
  12. I don't think White Station's linebacker corps was way overrated. All four of their main linebackers had speed, strength, and made winning plays in some of White Station's biggest wins and they enjoyed one of their best years if not the best for the football program. Furthermore, the Ravenwood game happened in the state semi-finals, so just because the defending state champions who happened to beat arguably the state's best team and defense in the first round of the playoffs (and moved it at will against them too), doesn't mean your are overrated or indicates that you are. That just shows that Ravenwood proved they were the better team and that's why their defending their title on Saturday. Also, 20 sacks can happen often in high school football when you consider that most high school programs don't have many great offensive lineman. It doesn't happen much in Tennessee HS football cause a number of teams still don't throw the ball more than 5-6 times a game. Not short changing Dasmine, just saying that 20 sacks in a season is easier to do in high school than the next two levels of football given their level of competition.
  13. Congrats to Maples, but I have to admit that I was hoping that Holt would win the award honestly. I just felt he deserved the award a little more because of what he's done at Maplewood during his career and this season in particular. It just seems it's so hard for Nashville Metro teams to get recognition nowadays. Holt was one of the big reasons the Panthers went from winless seasons to back-to-back playoffs. Still, congrats to Maples and like Ronnie Carter said, all three finalists were deserving of the award and the margin of winner and runners up were minimal.
  14. Finding a lot of info on Brighton High this year has been somewhat difficult. I'm wondering if anyone knows much about them and if you know, if you know about their defensive lineman #70?
  15. Stuman is an alum and gets to see them more, but I write for VandySports.com of Unapproved Website and have had a lot of interaction with members of the Spartan team over this season after linebacker Chris Marve committed to Vanderbilt. They possibly have either the top linebacker corps in the state or they are at least among the top 3 with Marve (who's a Mr.Football finalist), Brandon Boykin, and junior Jordon Yarborough. They have a skilled set of receivers in Trey Rich and Henry Rogers and have a reliable junior running back in Derrion Sanders and their junior quarterback Jeff Link has been probably the difference on the offensive side of the ball. They would possibly be undefeated right now had it not been for Link suffering an injury and missing a game where the offense couldn't move the ball quite as well (WS lost to Houston, 7-3). I saw Ravenwood play last week against Antioch and I think this is going to be a very good game between the two teams because both have well coached offenses and good defenses. This is what playoff football is all about. The winner of this game could go on to win the whole thing.
  16. Rod will likely be playing in the SEC, I know of a couple of schools including one locally that has already offered. Sonny might also be pitching in the SEC. James Williams will be playing in the SEC next year. Maceo and Hendricks have talent that should get more looks than they've probably gotten and if Shadrake was just a bit taller he would have a number of D1A teams looking at him and the same thing could probably be said for Crouch. Smyrna has a talented team and it looks like they are coming together at the right time. The game next week should be electric.
  17. I hope Mark does go wherever he wants but I don't know if UT's made an offer to him yet. Still a number of other schools have.
  18. Sorry I counted Groves and Fisher on the defensive side and forgot to include them among the top OLinemen. They are certainly among the best. Another one I forgot was Ezell-Harding's Dylan Gambill. There are several others I should've included originally but I got tired, haha.
  19. Linebacker John Stokes from Memphis University School has committed to Vanderbilt over several other SEC schools. Linebacker Chris Walker from Christian Brothers has a ton of offers with Tennessee and LSU appearing to be the top choices at the moment. Running back/receiver/athlete Golden Tate of Pope John Paul 2 has offers from Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Alabama, South Carolina, and others. Notre Dame is considered to have the lead now that they have offered. Florida is in the picture as well. Defensive End A.J. Greene of Brentwood Academy has offers from Auburn, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Louisville, Mississippi State, and others. Defensive End Cory Hall of Chattanooga Brainerd has offers from Auburn, Tennessee, Louisville, and others. Linebacker Eric Davis of Davidson Academy has an offer from Louisville, MTSU, and some others. There are several other seniors that could get D1A offers come December/January. Junior athlete Chris Jordan of Brentwood Academy already has a couple of SEC offers on the table.
  20. Congrats to the Spartans! They are a great group of kids and I'm hoping to see them get to the Boro. One more game!
  21. Yes, big congrats to the Bulldogs. Over the past couple of years, I've come to know a lot of kids and people associated with the program, so it's great to see them take a huge step like this in their program. Huge deal, congrats to Smyrna.
  22. Yes, congrats to the Spartans. Now rematch with Wooddale. Would love to see White Station get to Murfreesboro.
  23. Good to see Antioch get revenge on Dickson County from a couple of years ago. Good win for Coach Woodward.
  24. You wouldn't happen to know if Jefferson and a few other Ensworth kids are starting to get recruiting attention would you? I only ask cause a couple of Ensworth kids were at the Vanderbilt/South Carolina game with other recruits last weekend. Since Ensworth is a young rising program, I don't know much about them in terms of their personnel.
