  1. Couple of clarifications from someone who knows a little bit about Omar's recruiting situation. 1. He does have a Georgetown offer. At first it was a offer that was conditional on him waiting until the spring because there's a chance that someone is going pro. However, last weekend, he went to G-Town on a official visit to take in their opening practice with a number of committed and top players who were also offered. 2. He was offered by Vanderbilt, but they won't be a choice as both Omar and the VU coaches came to a decision to move in a different direction. Why, that was never really said, but he really liked Vanderbilt a lot but it seems as those with scouting or what have you, VU's program went elsewhere and Wattad respectfully was going elsewhere as well. He might still have some hope that they change their mind, but he contacted our site (VandySports.com of Unapproved Website) this morning to tell about his press conference, and said that VU will not be who he picks. 3. He was never committed to Chattanooga, and they have not been a candidate for him for quite a while. Apparently, according to Omar there was something going on, and somehow people believed he was committed to Chattanooga, when he had never decided that and wasn't even close to deciding them. 4. Some might think Omar is over-hyped or whatever, but he is a D1 mid-major prospect without a doubt with the possibility to develop into a high-major player with proper coaching or in the right system. Anyways, I thought I would inject a little bit about this situation out of respect to Omar and his great day when he is able to make his choice for the next 4 years of his life. Personally, I would like to see him go to Georgetown, cause I respect Coach Thompson there, but the UNC-Wilmington program is a solid program as well, so I think either way, he can't go wrong.

  3. White Station beats Germantown tonight. Guess they are starting to prove themselves now.
  4. White Station has possibly the best Linebacking corp in the state (only probably JCM would rival them I think) with Vandy commitment Chris Marve, fellow D1 prospect Brandon Boykin, and junior D1 prospect Jordon Yarborough. They also have a promising quarterback in Jeff Link and a good receiver/DB in Trey Rich and some more talent. Wooddale's got tons of talent as well.
  5. Not only that, but I think some don't understand the level of young talent that the team has and they have a championship coach. I go with Independence by 4 points.
  6. GREAT WIN FOR THE IRISH. Very huge for mid-state football. Congrats to Father Ryan! BTW Ryan fans, what did you think of Ernie Owusu? Just wondering..you might hear his name again down the road.
  7. I work at Unapproved Website, those quarterbacks are among the best in the nation that I just listed. It's pretty easy to know who had offers from UT, with the guys from Volquest.com as well as the other national recruiting analysts. And yes, plenty of linemen and running backs got offers from UT, just as a lot of schools offer plenty of prospects, especially when they were among the top juniors in the country last year. Again, this is no big deal...or to take anything away from Coleman. I was just responding to the quote that read like B.J. was the only QB to get an offer from UT. That's just not accurate. And don't be surprised if one of those QB's from that list, ends up signing with UT as well.
  8. Certainly: Jimmy Clausen John Brantley Tyrod Taylor Logan Gray Mike Paulus Pat Bostick Joe Chaisson Travaris Cadet Joe Haden G.J. Kinne Bradley Starks Cameron Newton Those had all received offers from UT before Coleman got his in mid-late June. It doesn't take anything away from B.J. by the way, just saying that that quote was not accurate unless they were solely talking about the 200 QBs in Tennessee, or 200 other QB's besides these.
  9. UT offered about 10-15 of scholarships to quarterbacks before Coleman, so don't listen to that stuff, cause they gave rides to other QB's before Coleman. Plus, they are still to likely sign another quarterback, particularly one from Texas or Florida. As far as the best in the state, Coleman and Gray are two of the top with others like Tico Andrews (East Robertson), Jeremy Perry (Wooddale), and maybe someone like Conner Lowery of CPA. Kellen Gower of Marshall County was pretty good but he's injured now though.
  10. He should be taking his ACT this month and after he gets a qualifying score, I wouldn't be surprised if at least Ole Miss and Marshall offered with maybe UT and SC coming on as well. I agree with you cky, I think he's the best receiver in metro Nashville and up there with everyone else in the state too.
  11. MUS will win by 4 points in a relatively low scoring game. MUS has a good defensive front seven and I think that will be the difference..especially with Howe out.
  12. I would love to see Father Ryan win, but I just have to go with Christian Brothers here. Anyone that sees the game, keep an eye on Chris Walker, #84 for CBHS. He's right up there with Chris Donald, John Stokes, and Tavis Hogsett as the best linebackers in the state. He's a pretty good tight end too.
  13. Graham's test scores will be fine..people are confident in that. I can tell you all that people are very happy on West End with his decision.
  14. Honestly, it might be a part of the high school experience...even when I was in high school, but I get annoyed by the group of 15-16 year old girls who walk together below the stands wearing stuff they definitely don't need to be wearing...and do nothing while they are there...besides, walk around, getting in people's way (yet act like they have somewhere to go, haha). Certain stadiums/fields annoy me with how their layout leads to hundreds of kids just walking around and making it hard to move around yourself when you need to. A little bit more organization could do a lot for some places.
  15. Yes, congrats MBA. Way to represent the Tennesse High School football. BTW, I think Rob Phipps would be a good addition to any college team of his choice. I was really impressed with him this summer. Hope he gets a shot to play at the next level somewhere. Congrats to Howe to for having the big game.
  16. Yes, what would really be huge is if MUS beats Nease High in Florida tomorrow afternoon. If the Owls were to go down to Florida and beat a team like that, with all of that talent they have...that would be huge for not only D2 but Tennessee High School Football in general. A lot of the TN schools have been defeating the out of state schools which is great for the state.
  17. I know White Station won, but how did the Spartans defense look? Anyone have any stats?
  18. Smyrna's defense caused some pressure on Rodriguez, but really, he couldn't get the ball to the receivers. There were times when Tillery looked to make a move but then when LaVergne had to throw the QB couldn't get the ball to receivers, except for that one drive that made it 14-6. Smyrna's offense is impressive, but I still would like to see Wilks be more consistant. He could be one of the best players in the state next year but as a high level receiver you don't want to see drops like the one he had when he was wide open. Still, Harris and Hendricks were impressive, Sonny Gray was pretty sharp back there, as someone who covers Vandy I was pleased with James Williams growth from last year to this year, and I love how the Crouch kid plays. LaVergne has a good offensive line and you can see they have a good offense..their quarterback just didn't give them that added dimension tonight and their defense really couldn't answer Smyrna's offense. Good game, good atmosphere...very hot and humid. The helicopter was cool. They seem to do a lot of that in Rutherford County.
  19. Just wanted to see if anyone could tell me when does the ticket office open for tonights game and when would be a good time to get there. I've heard..."get there early"...but I'm trying to understand...how early? Thank you.
  20. I think McClain will be a good player this year. Don't know about being like Gaston, but he's still going to be a player. BTW, speaking of Gaston...he's likely going to be playing in the Big House on September 2nd. Kid has looked good out there (I cover Vanderbilt for VandySports.com) and he's been getting a ton of snaps so far this preseason and the coaches are very confident in him.
  21. TDC, I saw your recap of the Riverdale/WC recap and I believe for the Cobras #1 would've been Jamie Graham and #2 would've been Calvin Roberts. I'm very high on these two from last year for WC and they put on one heck of a performance at the Vandy 7-on-7 this summer. Just wondering what would've been your overall impression of them. Anyways, I'm looking forward to the season for the Warriors. I think people are underestimating the talent on the team. There's still a heck of a lot of talent on that team and some of it didn't even get to play much last year. Plus, Coach Adeylott didn't exactly just get ran over at Hillsboro.
  22. "But, I will say #88 for Greenville is a top-notch football player. He is big and fast middle linebacker!" Yes, #88 is Danny Bannach who's been getting a ton of looks from D1 schools including Vandy, Tennessee, Auburn, Kentucky, Louisville, Miss. State, and MTSU. He's likely to start picking up some offers soon as either a LB or H-Back TE.
  23. This is a game that I circled as one that I definitely have to see this season. I saw both teams last year and saw them in the 7-on-7 Vandy tournament and there were guys on both teams that I am high on as a non-partial observer. Also, James Williams, Jack Adams, and a few other quality linemen on both sides of the ball will be playing for both teams..so I got to see that as well. I think it will be a very very competitive game and based on the threads we see here between the Smyrna and LaVergne fans, it should be quite an atmosphere at the stadium. Breaking them down and going with what I saw between the 2 both last year and this summer, I think it might be too close to call, but I think there will be a big play made and I have a feeling it will be the Bulldogs that make that one big play, that basically clinches the game. The score is very hard to predict but I think it will likely be a 1 or 2 point win and it will happen mid to late in the 4th quarter. Really looking forward to seeing it for many reasons. Good luck to both teams, let's hope for no injuries before the game or after.
  24. Jordan's already participated in a couple of Nike/SPARQ camps the past couple of years. At Clemson's Nike Camp this May, he checked in at 6-foot-2, 201 pounds, ran a 4.77 in the forty, 4.5 in the shuttle run, and had a 34.7 inch vertical leap. Pretty good numbers for a strong running back that's an 08 kid. Can't wait to see him play. Tyler Massey was a pretty good sophomore at MUS last year...I take it that he's gone with his dad to Baylor right?
