Does anyone know of any summer leagues for high school age boys in the knoxville area?

How are the district 4A teams looking heading into first week of pads?

Surely there is more to say about the district than this! Who are the top players? What are the best matchups? How are the teams looking so far in practice?

Wartburg, Cumberland Gap, Oakdale, Knox Christian, and Wartburg's JV played in a round robin. Cumberland Gap has a very strong armed QB. Wartburg is running the no huddle spread that is pretty effective. Oakdale looked to be much improved. Knox Christian was very young and inexperienced.

What teams are going to be in the passing league at Wartburg this Saturday? Is the competition going to be worth watching? Who are some of the teams to watch?

So there is not thoughts on how the district will be this year. I figured at least the Sunbright folks would be on here to hype up their team.

How are the teams in district 4 shaping up? Who are the projected teams to make the playoffs from the district? Who are the top players in the district? Who are some of the newcomers to watch? Looking forward to input from the board. How do you see the teams finishing out of Coalfield, Jellico, Oakdale, Oliver Springs, Oneida, Sunbright, and Wartburg

Oakdale is no match for Oneida but they do have some pretty good athletes in the Turner boys and Perkins. I have no doubt Oneida will run away with this one 35-6.

Is Wilson going to be the starting center? Is the line going to be the strength of the offense?

Can someone give me a rundown of the teams this year? Coalfield - What do they have returning after the loss of BD and all those skill players? Wartburg - Have they found a coach? Is he gonna be a difference? Do they have any playmakers? Sunbright - What are the expectations? Do they have a large turnout of players? Oakdale - Is Chip Strickland the real deal? Can he pump any life into this program? How many kids are buying in?

When he made his unofficial to ND it made his decision harder. ND pulled up on his list and now he will take officials to both schools during the season and then decide.

The longer he waits the better for ND. If he truly knew where he wanted to go he would commit. Chris seems like a real smart kid so he is going to make the right decision. I just hope its running through the T. Go Vols!!

Well I don't know how good the line will be but I do know that they picked up a huge transfer from Florida. He is 6'7-6'8 range and around 350 lbs. If this guy has any ambition and athleticism he will dominate any other lineman in this region. I have talked to some people close to the program says they have around 40 - 45 players out. Also told me that the line is gonna average between 225 - 230, that is without taking into account that other giant. Look for them to be faster and more athletic than any other team in the region and also finish 1st in the region. Harriman vs Coalfield should be a great game.

You are right he is laying the law down...better late than never. Fulmer believes in his players and believes he can make them better men because of it. He has been burnt by this philosophy by a few but a lot of his players do turn out to be great men. Chavis is one of the best if not the best LB/DC in the NCAA, I can't remember a LB that he coached that didn't at least get a shot in an NFL camp. As far as academics go, no I have never stated that UT's were better or even close. I was simply saying that UT's academics were not terrible, and as a matter of fact are getting pretty good. Overall ND is a great school I am not denying that, however if you dreamed of playing for a school and cheered for them your entire life I don't see anyway you can turn that down. If Chris was from Illinois I am sure UT wouldn't even be mentioned but he isn't he is a Tennessee boy. That is where I think the decision lies, and that is where his heart leads him. You can talk the academics, the NFL, the coaching, and the school in general, but you can't get past the fact that feeling when you have dreamed of doing something your whole life. Just ask Brandon Warren!

How long has it been since ND won a bowl game? How long has it been since they had a guy drafted in the first round? I know UT doesn't have the academics that ND does, however like you said they are making strides in that area. Chris will be great wherever he goes and I hope him well but ND is the media darling right now and it makes them such an easy sell. Truth is ND hasn't really done anything on the football field since Holtz left. ND may be on the way up but didn't Willingham win a lot his first year? We all now how that turned out. Well like I said I wish Chris the best no matter what he chooses, because he is a great kid and deserves to be a highly touted recruit.

I am a member of the family and was at the Funeral Sunday. The class that the Coalfield football boys have shown throughout this just shows the character that is instilled in them by Coach Kreis and all of the other leaders in Coalfield. They have earned my respect and showed that they are truly a family. I wish the best of luck to Coalfield this upcoming season. Also thank you for so many of the prayers it has been a tough couple of days for the family and they are much appreciated.

Chris will be making his decision at the end of next week. He is heading to Notre Dame Thursday and coming back this weekend. He will also only take 1 official visit and that will be to the school he commits to. So after next week we should know where the best player in the state is going.

Oakdale also has Kasey Perkins and Cody Powers at RB. The running game has potential except there is no threat of a passing attack. Melton had better have had a great summer because his long ball lacked accuracy and strength, as a matter of fact most of his throws were quite inaccurate. Also they had trey taliferro and the coffman boys at WR, height is an issue here. The desire from the boys would be there but they need leadership from a good coach. The defense will be decent led by TJ Ruppe and Dax Mitchell at LB and Cody Powers and Kasey Perkins in the secondary. The offensive and defensive lines could be the smallest line Oakdale has had in recent memory. Just a small overview and this is just what they have coming back and from spring practice. This team has potential but as was stated previously lacks leadership and fundamental knowledge from coaches. The coaches have desire but lack the knowledge. Fall practice will tell a lot about this team, as new additions arrive and players decide to move on. Also it will be a time to see if all those new coach rumors are true or just Oakdale fans being hopeful.

According to Scout and Rivals websites Chris will be visiting Notre Dame July 27th and be making a decision shortly thereafter. I am sure some on here were well aware of this but thought I would post it anyway. Here's hoping he ends up wearing the Big Orange!!

Well I am sorry...I just know what I read. I really don't know Chris, I just go to college with some guys from Huntingdon and they say he is a class act. I really hope he chooses the best school for him. I know he will because he seems like a smart kid I just hope its the vols cause I would love to watch him for years to come. I will cheer for Chris no matter what he does, because I know he will represent his state and town well.
