  1. Ruff year. MOWest on top at 30- 1 and loses to a loser. Good job Mac. Good job Knox. Love you girls, your got farther than us. Your long time ET friend.
  2. I don't say I absolutely know something very often, but I do know that Lauren Avant was very sick during the entire Ladies Classic. If you've ever watched her play, she is a skilled competitor and will be a great add to UT's program. Lauren is really one of those naturally great players. I only wish that some of you could watch her play AAU ball because she is the real thing!
  3. Am I missing it or is the girls post-season tournament schedule posted somewhere for Region1-AAA?
  4. statman3 and raiderray - (don't know you statman3, but raiderray and i were in the trotter group for several years) I know the season will end positive for your girls at Cherokee, maybe not with the score, as my daughter is a lady trojan, but because they participated in a game that has taught them much, under a coach that has class. The round ball has brought them together with folks they would not have met without it, ( like me and riderray). I like Coach Price, even though she tells me every time about the game Coach Galyon ran the score up on her. She has the instincts of a mom with those girls and cares. She will have a better year in 2010-2011. Coach Galyon might have to watch for her to run the score up, but she will have to work hard! RaiderRay, hope to see you at the post season games, bring that Kelsey back tovisit. I still have Trotter shots on the website of her as a 12 and 13. Life is a 4 lane road, as our daughter travel one lane, let us not forget that we travel another... so stay in your lane!
  5. Well said LadyRedFan. You have reminded us what it's really all about, the time and lessons of building quality character in our daughters to carry forward into this world. I rejoice to see that there remains a few good Dad's around. One of the greatest titles I have ever earned.
  6. Any details or date for Regional tournament yet?
  7. I have not posted this year, but ran into Rayraider up in Morristown at a restaurant a few weeks ago and he might disagree. West still has three games in the district. Coach Galyon knew at the sports banquet last year that he was going to have a special year. Hope it keeps going!
  8. Spoken in third person? Doen't sound like an Angel to me.
  9. I like being able to identify these girls by where we have seen them play for the past few springs. No doubt that Graves with the Lady Shox 14's of Clarksville is one of the top in the class. Most have never realized that she was playing up since a 10 year old. Danielle Ballard is the same with the Memphis Elite 14's, Eric and his assistants have done a good job preparing her. There is a Daniel's girl from that bunch that can play well too. Another tough player is Marjorie Butler that has played with the Tennesse Flight Freshmen from Shelbyville that finished 5th at Nationals the past two years. Look for her at Webb in Knoxville to add to that program. The LadyTrotter fan listed only Blount County but they also had Christina Slay who was slotted for Seymour last spring (sister to Tennessee standout Ron Slay) and Allison Jones at Morristown West. I will have to go with my unknown friend MOWEST21 and say watch Graves and Ballard, but would add Butler to that list.
  10. Ok lets get it started. Who is looking strong this year? Any new players coming in? Who's coming up?
  11. Since both Greeneville and Hamblen County are closed, has anyone heard about the Regional playoff in Greeneville. Only "official" replies please.
  12. Interesting to look back and see where the obvious choice to be the only home loser stands today.
  13. Please find a time to share with me - Do you think I should wash it?
  14. It means a lot to West because it is Greeneville. Period. If Smith can out score Dickson 21 to 13 again, if Watson can hit four 3's and stop Greeville drives, If George and Hall can get 4 points each, and May can create 8 to 10 turnovers and score on five of them, and if Fanney can drive the lane and get 8 to 10 from shots and free throws, - AND IF THE WHOLE TEAM PLAY THE DEFENSE THEY KNOW HOW TO PLAY. Your ten point stread is correct. The team you have given it to is incorrect.
  15. I think they will host the game in Greeneville, I have the shirt, wore it tonight, will wear it Wednesday. It worked two year age when West beat won. The regions. West has played more games on that court than any other execpt their own. And if they win the regional, it will be on that court. I understand the A/D were scheduling practice times for Thursday for West on the court, subject to their win. But the big secret is the shirt and I have it. It has a high success rate, and has been passed down for the next generation of Lady Trojans. If they win, it will become the regional shirt and will be worn for the next four years to regional championship games. After which it should be retired and place in a special place for display, like in drug store or bank.
  16. I don't think the idea of needing to beat Greeneville to not play Oak Ridge will even enter the West players minds. As you have said, it GreenEVILle to anyone in the IMAC. This will be the 4 time this year they have faced off. West is 1-2 with only 6 point difference in the total scores of the three games. To address the 6th place in regular season, you have to look at the fact that the player are one senior, one junior, two sophomores, and one freshman. The bench offers a freshman post, and a junior for the #4 position. These girls have matured and been developed by coaches that have a plan that look much further than one week ahead. They also had to "regroup" and adjust their game when they lost their top producer and team motivator to the dreaded ACL. They have worked hard and been well coached each game. As for tonight, the SH coach gave them the final basket by changing to zone at the last time out.
  17. What time is the West game tonight? I have been told West and SH play at 7:30 but it looks like the TSSAA site says 6:00.
  18. In my observation, he really likes these girls and is deeply interested in their development as players and as successful young ladies. These girls have heart before they get to Galyon, or they would never make it to a West Varsity bench. He has the ability to see their heart and combine their desire play with the ability to build their skills. He teaches them to love the game, and all it has to offer. He shows them that hard work does not promise reward, but reward is not received without hard work.
  19. Many things coming into play. Greeneville has a deeper bench. Galyon has shown why he is the coach of the year with a win like tonight. He had to rely on his first five and only one healthy player on the bench. It looks like the MVP will be down to Dixon and Smith. In their last match up Smith scored 21 and held Dixon to 13. This conference has some very talented underclassmen that are bringing promise to the next two or three years of some very good ball. Both times West and Greeneville have played this year, it as been a 4 point game. I don't expect to see a 4 point game on Monday night.
  20. In theory this may be correct. But theory would not have a 6th seed hosting a regional game. Thus the old saying "That's why we play the game".
  21. It was not the case that Greeneville had an off night. Coach Galyon showed what studying the other team, and putting together a plan that used your strengths and took away Greeneville's strengths can give you a chance to win the game. Greeneville played well, but it was a different game than they had seen before. Dixon was guarded most of the night by a freshman on man to man, and many time by two freshmen in zone play. West used the strength of their young point guards in May and Fanney to slow the pace of shooting, and for the most part waited for the best shot. Fanney had the best game of ball she has ever played, be it at West High or Trotter Ball. She showed a new level of maturity for a 15 year old. Watching the tape and developing the plan is one part of winning, getting every player that hits the floor committed to executing the plan the the other part and that won the game for West. Coach Galyon and Coach Sents have been working with this young group since spring for a night like tonight. Two or three mistakes, and the game could have gone the other way, but very few gave the Lady Trojans any chance of being in the game, much less winning after loss of their key player last week. Excellent game play - well executed.
  22. Big upset tonight! Morristown West defeated Greeneville by a score of 44 to 41. Also in the Junior Varsity Game, Morristown West defeated Greeneville by a score of 63 to 25.
  23. You might check, but I believe the JV lost to Morristown West.
  24. The only complaint I heard last night was that the boys game is to start not at a published time, but so many minutes after the girls game. The boys were not ready to take the court. Hartsell gave in twice and added time to warm up. I feel the mercy rule (slaughter rule in some areas) is good. I can not recall seeing a coach down by 50 sending in the young and up coming players and instructing them during the fourth quarter. They send them in to run the clock down, which is what the mercy rule accomplishes. I agree with the post stating that the JV game is the best place to get experience for the young ones.
  25. Don't site the grade of your players as a reason. When they take the court as a Varsity player, they are a player. Morristown hit them with 1 senior, 2 juniors, 3 sophmores, and 2 freshmen and won by 22 points. The game was close as long as Taylor Hall was in. When she went out with fouls from having to over compensate for poorer players, West took 3 sophmores and two freshmen and ran the score up. When the record is posted, it is the Coach that is responsble. Get a reputation of not getting PLAYERS to work with you, you have to find a new playground. LMU needs to teach this.
