  1. CoachGat...Email me at robmeridieth@midsouth.rr.com I am not a PLUS Member, so I am not able to send and receive private messages.
  2. Millington has 3 Freshmen, all very talented, all playing a Major Role on the Varsity this year. They are Jasmine Newsome Ashley Robinson Olivia Maddox All 3 have started at times this year for the Lady Trojans who are off to a 12-1 start heading into in the Collierville Christmas tournament next weekend.
  3. I am not sure that I would include CBHS on that list... Other than that, I think that the list in pretty accurate. R.E. is the class of Memphis this year. Georgia Tech Signee Mo Miller is the true leader of that team. Look for them to make a serious run at the Hardware at the end of the year. I have got out to see Elliot Williams at St Geroge's yet, But the JR Guard is getting alot of attention from some impressive schools. Both Bruce Pearl and John Calipari have been out to see him play in person this year.
  4. I would have to include Millington's Latesa McLaughlin in this discussion as well....
  5. Jasmine Newsome (Millington) is only a Freshman as well.....
  6. Thanks for the Analysis. I look forward to that potential matchup!!
  7. Tim Ware at BTW is the best "Little Man" in the State.
  8. Thanks for the info. The tournament should be competitive. Collierville has done a nice job of improving this tournament each and every year. It is starting to remind me of the Lady Trojan Invitational that we Millington used to host when Kevin McMillan was there. Can you post your E-mail address. I need some info and not sure how to get in touch with you over the holidays.
  9. That's a big win for Houston!! Cental is a very GOOD basketball team. Now that you have seen Houston play both Central and Millington, How would you compare the 2 teams?
  10. Coach Gat, When do the Lady Trojans play in the Christmas Tournament?
  11. I didn't get a chance to make it to the game tonight. What was the final?.... Any details?..
  12. Millington plays that same Craigmont team on Friday. If It will be interesting to see how the scores (Margin of Victory) compare at that point. Who is the HC at Whitestation now?. I thought that Eric Sullivan did a nice job there when he took over for Betty Booker Parks. That was years ago now, and I have lost track of who is coaching there. Millington played Collierville tonight and won impressively, Overcoming a poor shooting night with relentless defense and hustle. It was GREAT to see Latesa Mclaughlin back on the floor for the Lady Trojans. She sat out the game last friday vs Hernando with a leg injury that she sustained vs ECS earlier in the week.
  13. bhscoach...... You are right.... sorta.... The boys basketball program at Millington has indeed been an afterthought for a very long time. I can only remember a handfull of winning seasons in the past 20 years. In 1988 under David Terrell, a couple under Matt Bakke in the 90's and maybe once under the Late Cecil Dowell in the late 90's early 2000. They are working hard to get there this year. The girls program on the other hand has only recently fell on hard times. There was a dramatic drop off with that programafter Kevin Mcmillan left for Martin WestView and Bartlett Alum (Russell Dykes) who succeded him at Millington left to go back to bartlett. Even during this "Drop Off" there were years that Millington was very competitive under Gloria Walker. (Who's Daughter is the Starting post at Bartlett). The program hit rock bottom the last couple of years and Coach Gatlin has done a GREAT job in picking up the pieces and begining the rebuilding of what was once a proud Program. His Lady Trojans are 10-1 right now and look to be the biggest road block for your Lady Panthers. As I stated previously, I think that this years version of the Lady Panthers is GOOD....Not Great... BUT DON'T TAKE THIS AS AN INSULT!!!!... From all of the teams that I have seen here in West Tennessee this year, I have not seen a GREAT Team.. I think that the power in the state this year probably rests in Middle to East Tennessee this year in AAA. This is normally the case. In fact for the vast majority of the last 20 plus years this has been the case with few exceptions.
  14. Am on some sort of restriction or something?.... Seriously, Bartlett fans have always had an unrealistic view of reality. They had some incredible boys teams under Hubie in the 90's and early 2000's. But that well has been dry for a few years. The Football TEAM has been mediocre at it's very best since the mid 90's and the Girls Basketball team has always been an afterthough untill recently. They are the class of 14aaa right now, but that is going to be short lived. Coach GAT is in the process of getting the Lady Trojans back on top. You remember the 7 year stretch when Bartlett didn't beat the Lady Trojans don't you?.......0-17? Was that the record??.. It may have been even worse than that. I may be predating you with some of that info though. You very well may have in Grade School during the early to mid 90's
  15. Bartlett fans really kill me... Your team got beat. Stop whining about FULL SPEED this and FULL SPEED that.... Central was the better team tonight. You will probably meet again. But, reality is Ya'll are a Good team, nothing more, and nothing less. The teams in Middle and EAST Tn are not shaking in their boots when thinking of you, that's for sure.
  16. I think that I saw one of the single worst calls I have ever seen. It happened last night in the Millington vs ECS Boys Basketball game at ECS. A Millington player has a breakaway layup and the ECS Defender clearly grabbed the Millington players arm causing him to miss the layup. The official was right on the play and simply swallowed his whistle. It was atrociously, so much so that even the home crowd was stunned. This was a seasoned offical as well. He has been officiating games for atleast the last 15 years.
  17. I don't think that Raliegh Egypt is the team that should be "Worried" about anything. They are ranked in the Top 20 in the Nation and definitely the more talented of the two teams. Not only are they more talented, but they also get the end in the coaching department as well. Jimmy Adams has been at it a long time and has won 2 state championships in the past. I heard a recent radio interview with him in which he said, he thought that he had a realistic shot at winning a 3rd state title in the next few years. White Station has not been the same since Terry Tippett took his show and incredible career record to ECS. Speaking of ECS, They are really struggling this year. 0-6 on the year. On the bright side, they have a 6'7" Soph Post player that will be eligible in January that should really make a difference.
  18. Check your stats on Simpson. Travis Simpson broke the 100 yard mark against Ridgeway. He is a bigtime prospect for 08

    Jamborees

The Shelby County Schools Jamboree will be held August 11th at Arlington High School. The teams that will be there are: Millington Bartlett Bolton Arlington Germantown Houston Cordova
  20. Yeah, Melrose named their new head coach some time ago. I can't recall his name. But, He was the Defensive Coordinator last year.
  21. When talking about Top Jr's to be in the State of Tennessee, More specifically West Tennessee, You would have to include RB/LB Travis Simpson at Millington Central High School. He could be the next in a long line of Division athletes that have played at Millington. In addition Millington has a couple of more Jr's to be to keep an eye on as well. LB/DB/S Melvin Johnson, and LB/DB/RB Derenik Culbreath.
  22. Millington plays at Bartlett Week 0. Should be alot of fun. Millington has a team full of Juniors and Sophmores and should really be good for the next few years. The Junior class has a numbers of players that are Division 1 potential.
  23. Millington Central HighSchool has produced a number of NFL Players over the last decade. Begining with Marlon Barnes (RB) who played collegiately at Colorado and then in the NFL for the Raiders, Bears, and Dolphins, Ahmad Galloway (RB) who played collegiately for Alabama and then in the NFL for the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers, Victor Ellis (transferred to Red Bank his Jr Year) (LB) who played collegiately at Alabama and then in the pros for the the Jacksonville Jaquars, and Tyrone Calico (WR) who played collegiately at MTSU and is currently with the Tennessee Titans. Incidently Galloway, Ellis and Calico all were all on the same team in HS. The scaring thing about it is, the player with the most pro potentital didn't even make it to college. His name was Travis Potlow. He was a monster of a LB who had NFL written all over him If he only had a clue.
