  1. That is what everyone said when it happened. The prinp. said he want to take the program in a different direction. He was true to his word.
  2. OK, so what are we talking about here? Is it $140 for a plastic ring that won't last a year or is it for a ring? Do they need money or don't they? I know nothing about this school but someone just post what they need. The 3rd string tackle should have a ring just like the star of the team.
  3. Cooley retired from the Memphis school system. Been knowing about it since last year. As far as new coach, no word as yet.
  4. We have the same rules, if you move into another zone you don't lose any time, if you just transfer you lose a year. Your other problem is kids playing?? In Memphis area they start playing in leagues in the 3/4 grade and I'm not talking about YMCA flag football. Good many of the middle schools have teams and have a playoff at the end of the year, same for freshman teams and jv teams. When my g/son was a freshman he had 3 games a week. Now he only got in one varsity game (maybe 2) but he was always in 2 games a week. Sounds to me like ya'll don't get them into sports early enough.
  5. I don't think that anymore players from Melrose will leave for that reason. It may happen at some of the other schools but I have my doubts about that. All Melrsoe needs is for the coach to stay and find a kicker. If these 2 things happen then I don't see anything stopping them from going to state next year. I read somewhere on here that they were only losing 5/6 players this year. I don't know if this was the starting of something for Henery Co. and Munford or just their one year of fame. But the road to state goes through Melrose next year.
  6. I saw the Go Pats post then the next thing I know is the whole thread is gone. Even the Moms post stayed on there for a day or so. Somebody said something real bad real loud for them to take it down so fast.
  7. My understanding is that a student has only 8 semesters to play sports once he starts the 9th grade.
  8. We went to Rogers 2 years in a row and they had nice stuff, went to Hopkinville, Ky. and it was very good. Both were head over heels above anything around Memphis (public), but nothing like any of these. Wonder how much the dues are for these booster clubs?????
  9. Well let's see, there is his parents, his school, team mates and that little of bitty school just south of here called L S U.
  10. Looks like the voters were smart enough to average it out if Aaron had played the whole 10 games. Wish we could have been 3 for 3 but that would be asking for too much cake. Is Jasper the first 2 time winner??? Not just a kicker but anyone??
  11. When I moved to Tn. I didn't understand it myself. But over time I came to see that it is fair. Regular season get you to the playoffs. You go 10-0 you are sure of 2 home field games then the odd/even year thing kicks in. As a fan we may not think it is fair but the rule is there year after year and it doesn't favor anyone. Best you can hope for is to be a 1 seed two years in a row and win your second season games and it will equal out. Anyway, most kids like to travel because it gets them out of school for 2 days. Heck, if you are playing the 3/4th round just load up, take a trip and be happy about it. Alot of teams and fans would love to be in your place.
  12. I agree with you. Are you going to the game? I'm not going to make it, all the in-laws came in town to shop. Not healty to bail out and go to a football game that the g/son isn't playing in.
  13. If what 'B' said does start to happen I think W/station will get a good number of the players. I have only talked to one parent who said they picked Ridgeway because of sports and it was baseball. He enrolled his son when the school went from 7-12, then AC retired when the boy was in the 10th grade. He said if he had it to do over he would have went to WS. I have had alot more people say that they wouldn't let their child go to Melrose no matter what because of the area. Melrose will get the most but these kids want to play and I see WS getting quite a few of them. I don't know how the 5-A playoffs were done before last year but I know that it was hard for anyone to get past G/town. With Houston takeing players from them and the talk of a new school in south east Shelby County, G/town isn't going to be the king of the hill ever year. Just this year they lost 3 in a row in the region, won a game 3-0 against an average 4A school and were one and out in the playoffs. Depending on who R/way gets I'm thinking that good things are comming White Stations way. What is sad to me is we are even talking about this. That a parent would send their child to a certain school because of sports is kind of sick. All they have to do is stress grades and the lottery will pay for college. So many think that their child is going to be the next great player and make millions. I bet Cooley has told the parents a 1,000 times that they have got to have the grades to play at the next level. Now I think that they think he is talking about football, I'm thinking he just may be talking about life............
  14. Well said, you got to it first so no need me to say anymore.
  15. Well, he's 17, so telling him anything is a waste of time. On the other hand after seeing his first 2 report cards for this year. I think I'm going to buy her a Christmas present.
  16. I cann't give an honest answer to you. I never saw them play. I looked at the schedule and came up with these numbers. White Station scored 395--gave up 171 Ravenwood 356 215 Ridgeway 258 62 I know it's just numbers and doesn't mean anything. But it looks to me like the person keeping score is going to be busy
  17. The more post I read the better the weather gets. We need some new weather people in Memphis. It's the Grandson, last year. I found out last week that they have shows on TV on Friday night.
  18. It's not the high on Friday that's a problem, it's the low on Friday night (40) that is bad on the bones. I think Boo is working this week-end. He's in love and has got to earn some Christmas money. But if he does get off and go, most likely I will to.
  19. What are takeing in school, COAL MINEING???? From the holes you keep digging you should have a 5.0 in it.
  20. I just looked at their schedule. White Station may have got the team they wanted to play this game against. Ravenwood has given up more points then Wooddale did. Of course they score alot of points. But if this is going to be a run and gun type game I think it helps W/station chances. Hope ya'll win two more games but only one person do I stand in cold for and He's not playing.............
  21. Being as alot of us are Ridgeway fans, it could be a h--l of alot better. Hate you lost your qb for a few games. Try loseing him for 10 games, haveing to use the #3 from last year who had change positions and hadn't taken a snap in almost a year. We went 9-1 with a young man who couldn't hit water with a football if he was standing in a boat in the middle of a large lake. I don't think you have to worry about your "little 4 loss kids" getting hurt. White Station don't hit near as hard as Ridgeway.
