  1. What offensive scheme does Nashville Christian have this year? Multiple? Spread?
  2. I hope Stewart County makes it to the playoffs, but having a 36-0 win over Waverly isn't saying much. Even Harpeth got a 23-0 win over them, I'm not saying Harpeth is terrible but they aren't going to become a playoff team over night, especially in a region with Goodpasture, DCA, and CPA. Given that Stewart has gotten a lot better and probably better than the likes of Adamsville, Houston County, Waverly, and Loretto I would say they have a better shot this year than they have had in a long time. I'm hoping for the best for Stewart County.
  3. Finally, someone who actually wants to talk about the game!
  4. I'm pulling for an upset. Clarksville Academy-21 Cascade-20
  5. I'll have to say that Jo Byrns should definitely be in the state title game at the end of this season. They really showed their dominance tonight on offense and defense, especially with the play of Orlando Taylor. I have to say, though, that Clarksville Academy put up a lot more of a fight this year than last year(even though they got shut out). Last year, they couldn't really get any yards whatsoever against the Jo Byrns first team Defense but this year was a different story. My hat goes off to the play of Andy Smith and Heith Dyer because in my mind those guys showed more heart and more will to fight than anyone out on that football field tonight. No matter what the score was they were giving their all and anyone who saw that game should respect that in every way. Also to Zac Burkhart for picking his teammates up when they made a mistake and keeping them strong in the eyes of defeat. Congratulations to Jo Byrns, and good luck on the road to the state title.
  6. All I know is that you are not going to see anyone from Clarksville Academy's team get on here and brag about how good they are or how bad they are going to beat a team like other teams in the region tend to do, and in return tend to get smacked in the mouth come the end of game time. What happens is what happens and I respect them for that. Jo Byrns is an excellent football team and both teams will give their all no matter what the outcome is.
  7. I would love it if Clarksville Academy pulled the upset, but they would have to put up a lot of points and their defense would have to play very solid. They looked extremely solid against Huntland, let's just hope they can increase the intensity even more this week. Last year Jo Byrns won by 31, so unless they are a whole lot better than last year they won't win by 40.
  8. Clarksville Academy was victorious over Huntland tonight by a final score of: Clarksville Academy-28 Huntland-14 This game was very physical, though ugly at times. Clarksville Academy put the first points on the board with a touchdown pass by Dyer to make it 7-0. After that, Heith Dyer had a pass that was oddly thrown due to a missed assignment on the line, leading to a Huntland interception and touchdown shrinking the lead to 7-6 going into the half. In the second half, Clarksville Academy had a more physical approach on defense and allowed less than 30 total yards of offense to Huntland. They ended the game with a 30 yard interception returned for a touchdown by Nathan Griffy, and a touchdown run by Zac Burkhart. Thomas Leamon was physical as usual amassing more than 10 tackles in the game. A lot of excitement was in the air tonight with the new stadium, and it was a great effort by both teams overall.
  9. Clarksville Academy will win this game and I have reasons to support my decision. For one thing, this will be the first game in the history of the school where they have their very own place to play. The team is going to be pumped and the seniors are going to really want this game with everything in them. Secondly, they are more improved than anyone actually thinks they are, unless you have seen them scrimmage or the Jamboree this past week. Huntland is an excellent football team and had the opprotunity to be in the first round of the playoffs last year and will want this one as well. This means that this game is going to be close. I say the score will be: CA- 21 Huntland-14
  10. Obviously, they were in the Montgomery County Jamboree this past Friday, and tied Rossview Highschool 0-0. Their offense is pretty much the same as last year, just a little more complex. As far as defense, they have 3 down linemen and 3 linebackers. In early August, they scrimmaged East Hickman and beat them 21 or 28-0 and before that, they tied Montgomery Central. Expect a good year out of this great bunch of players.
  11. Yes, Clarksville Academy does have 28 kids on the football team. Rossview is a 4a school and from what I saw, Rossview had about 70 or 75 kids out there. I think the big thing was the turnovers CA caused, there were 2 or 3 fumbles and there probably should have been another 2 by way of an interception. Rossview has extremely fast athletes in Scott and Johnson, and at the beginning they seemed to be able to run the sweep anywhere(at least for 2 or 3 plays), until CA adjusted and got into the backfield.
  12. Clarksville Academy tied Rossview Highschool 0-0 tonight in the Montgomery County Jamboree. It was a very defensive game. One thing I notice this year about CA that is different from last year is that everyone on the team swarms to the football on defense. It used to be that only one or two people would actually hit someone, but the whole team knocked the crap out of some backs and recievers. Offensively, they still need a little work, but from last year in their jamboree against Rossview they have definitely gotten a whole lot better. Rossview had their playmakers (Dominic Scott, Johnson, etc.) in for the entire game, except for one or 2 series out of about 8. Look for these guys(Clarksville Academy) to make it to the playoffs this year.
  13. A 3.7 from home to first is believable, just obviously not as a 40 time.
  14. I know they had a scrimmage tonight, and I think they scrimmaged Creek Wood. Any information on the two teams and how they did would be much appreciated. I know Creek Wood has a great shot at a 3 or 4 seed in Region 5-3A(could be and should be even better if the dice role their way). Clarksville Academy is struggling this preseason with offense(Burkhart out indefinitely due to injury), but partly because of the relatively new names at the left and right tackle positions. They, too, are fighting for a playoff spot in their own region 5-1A and have a good chance at it, despite minute numbers. Thanks in advance for any info provided.
  15. He's back. He had a really bad injury, but bounced back surprisingly quick.
  16. #51 from Clarksville Academy (Thomas Leamon) #14 Zac Burkhart from Clarksville Academy isn't but will be this year
  17. Well, no one seems to think that CA will make the playoffs this year, and they will be sadly mistaken because they will make the playoffs this year. There was just too much success last year for them to not make the playoffs this year. They are returning all of their starters except for 2 seniors, who were offensive linemen. So, with all of that said, expect atleast 5-7 wins this year.
  18. If a 4.5-4.6 40 yard dash is considered "not that fast" then what is fast?
  19. A good thing to do for adding speed to his fastball is not only throwing longtoss, but doing core training. Having a strong back, stomach, thighs, etc. are some of the essentials in not only reaching top velocity on pitches, but also staying injury free. I would suggest doing medicine ball workouts combined with lifting and throwing. These things could add as much as 5 mph to his fastball in a few months if he stays at it.
  20. They have one pitcher who throws in the low 80's, but that's about it.
  21. I don't know who Colton Speed is either, but I do know that Union City has had a reputation of having some really good ball players. Look at Steve Finley, who's in the Major Leagues!
  22. If I were a pitcher in that situation and I threw the ball into the dugout I would assume that I just had my chance and blew it when the ump called the dead ball. I wouldn't be able to assume that I would be able to go into the dugout, retrieve the ball, and throw it to third as much as I want to until I got the guy out. The ump should just not say a thing and let the pitcher get the guy out, but that's just my opinion.
  23. Anyone know the final score of the Clarksville Academy/McEwen game?

    Most Home Runs

Talk about a rough estimate on field dimensions.
  25. Nashville Christian may not be the team to beat right now, but when it comes closer to time for the tournament they may surprise some people. Right now they have one of the toughest, if not the toughest schedule in the district, which will help them in the long run. WHH and Jo Byrns had games last year where they would beat a really good team and then lose the following day by a large ammount to that same team, which showed a lack of consistency. The reason they are contending is because they have learned to be consistent where other teams aren't on the field.
