  1. Yes it is. I was puzzled as to how it was missed as well.
  2. Believe me, there was a lot of holds missed on SP as well. One sricks out especially when our #44 was going after the QB while dragging a blocker that was latched on the the back of his jersey. Regardless, I don't think the outcome changes.
  3. I know the chop blocks called on us were legit when I looked back at them. I think it's something that the refs don't typically look for.
  4. Looking at the 1st half only, SP had around 85 yards in penalties, while Gville had 50. At the end of the 1st quarter, it was 40-35.
  5. They were. Both teams had a lot of penalties in the first half, but there was significantly less called in the second half. Both teams had over 30 yards to get a 1st down at different times.
  6. I'm good with anything as long as it isn't the Fightin Gores.
  7. Actually, there's quite a bit of "big blue nation" that would support this, myself included. It was voted on in the 90's, and I don't know the exact results, but it was voted down. It really hasn't been brought up seriously since. I would support it for the same reasons already mentioned, not so much for the athletic opportunities, but the academic. But, I do like the idea of more sports. As far as the colors, years ago I thought black, blue, and white would be nice. However, I do like the fact that Gville is small and the close relationships that are there.
  8. Well the announcement of the new coach will have to wait since TC is still playing.
  9. Coalfield had a common opponent with Monterey in Harriman. Monterey and Clay are pretty even. I don't think Coalfield beats either one of them. Coalfield's schedule was extremely weak this year. I wish they would've still played us. I feel we would've beat them even without the 5 starters we had quarantined. Either way, it's all moot. Coalfield isn't playing anyone from region 4. I was just making comparisons to judge how the game would go.
  10. I feel Coalfield would've finished 4th in our region. South Pitt will have it easy before the championship.
  11. Congrats to SP. I agree with other posters. Refs were awful. We had refs last week that didn't call anything...this week they called everything, at least in the 1st half. However, some of their no calls were horrible too. When a kid swings at another player, you throw a flag, not tell him to take a break. Anyway, like I've said, SP is crazy good. They won't have a problem at all next week, and Fayetteville will be a game like it was with us. Some may disagree, but I believe Frame is one of the most complete backs I've ever seen on 1A. We would have him cornered, and he would escape. Kelley is a great back, too. Having both of them in the backfield is extremely dangerous. As far as Gville, I feel they played their butts off. We had a couple of kids playing with torn ligaments in their knees, but they toughed it out. Most left it all on the field. Our Oline wasn't intimidated, and I feel they did a pretty good job against SP's big Dline. Mine did as well. Depending on how we do against Clay, I anticipate these matchups will continue. I agree with the SP posters. If I was Grider, I wouldn't even think about passing it more than a few times a game.
  12. @piratetom Does the scoreboard at 6:30 sound good to you to meet up, and anyone else?
  13. Mytv30 did have TC and Friendship one year.
  14. If you head to Carthage, you won't see a football game, maybe basketball.
  15. They can take home all the bacon they want as long as they don't take home a win.
  16. 2006 was my first time seeing SP in person. After seeing them warm up, I was extremely worried, seeing their athleticism. We ended up winning convincingly. That goes to show that you just don't know until you actually play the game. I just hope the boys in blue leave it all out there tomorrow, and the rest will take care of itself.
  17. This screenshot is from the Tennessean two weeks ago listing the favorites, contenders and dark horses in each class. Gordonsville is completely absent in 1A, as is Watertown in 2A.
  18. Good news for Watertown fans... The Tennessean picked Trousdale to win 21-14.
  19. FWIW, the Tennessean doesn't even have this game on it's radar for the top games this week in Middle Tennessee. In my best Rodney Dangerfield impression...No Respect. 2.1%
  20. It's been awful dry and there's no rain in the forecast, so it needs all the water it can get.
  21. I don't have an answer for the first question... The second...I think most think the result of this game is a foregone conclusion, so there's not much interest in it. Plus, there's only 2 or 3 Gville posters, so the back and forth banter is limited. 2.2%
