  1. The young man is a good kid and a good football player. I, personally, will miss him, but it is a valid reason and one not in his control. Not knowing exactly what McKenzie returns on the line, I believe he will help as he started for us on the D-Line last year.
  2. I actually think it will be in April. Due to injuries and Baseball, there may not be any scrimmages.
  3. I imagine Musgrove will will a lot of touches along with starting at LB. He's a good team player, and he's probably not as worried about his touches as you are. Not that I really know, but I think the run game will be a bigger part of the offense this coming year.
  4. For what it's worth, we were all underclassmen as well. We'll return 8 starters on offense and 9 on defense.
  5. Some of the parents were very involved, helping as coaches. I was told that another parent cussed all the coaches during the game at SP pretty badly right there on the sideline. I was also told that the administration didn't support the coaching staff in it, and that's why many of the coaches have left
  6. After how things have played out, I'm anxious to see how the team, coaching, and parental dynamics play out.
  7. I wouldn't say that was the plan. Now, I don't believe Clemons ever aspired to be HC in the first place, but stepped up at the last opening because he loves the program. I have no inside info, but my gut feeling tells me that things have transpired like they have because Jackson needs HC experience and Clemons was getting ready to step away after another year or two anyway. So, things have aligned like they have. For the record, and I don't know that he's been told enough, I appreciated the 3 years that Clemons was my position coach in high school, and I'm thankful he was my son's HC for 4 years. Also, I'm looking forward to my other son playing for Jackson for, hopefully, 4 years. But, I've yet to see anything official on Jackson though.
  8. He's a Gville alum who played on the teams in the early 2000's
  9. Personally, I think he may be doing it for some HC experience. What better place to get that experience than home? I could be wrong, but if it is Jackson, I don't see it being long term. I'm fine with that. Plus, he'll look really good with what we have coming back next year.
  10. We had 3 coaches in the 80s who weren't alumni.
  11. Same here, and it would be about the only reason that Clemons stepping down would make sense. But, at this point, it's just hearsay and rumors.
  12. You too. Enjoy the trip, and I got a feeling you'll enjoy the game.
  13. When I watched on film, the flag was thrown before the play was over. When I asked him what happened he said the other player started mouthing and he said, "I just drove you 15 yards." Again, the flag came in before any of that. Either way, it's moot. I do wish I would've got to talk to ya though.
  14. He was #55. He's the one who got the personal foul, which I thought was a bad call after watching the film. I looked for you a couple times but I was afraid to venture too deep into pirate territory.lol
  15. My honest take is that I was largely disappointed in a lot of things. I'll leave it at that. But bottom line, SP had/has the better team. To reference an earlier conversation in the thread, they have 3 or 4 athletes that we simply don't have, and we weren't able to overcome that deficit. And, I think we possible weren't ready for that big of a moment. For the most part, the same team will be back on the field next year and ready, hopefully. Could we have done some things differently this year to make it a different game? Possibly, but woulda, coulda, shoulda.... As far as my son playing his last game, the sting was somewhat lessened because he blew out his knee the first game of the season, and had been really only able to do some long snapping. But, he was "ok" about it as he was still contributing. It wasn't what we wanted, but it's what we got. Gordonsville football means a lot to us, and I'm glad we shared that experience together. I've got another that will be a freshman next year, and I hope we get to have that experience as well.
  16. Barely get out of the van and get told, "go back to Gordonsville, you hippies." One, they're lucky I'm a born again man. Two, they have bigger issues if they think I'm a hippie.
  17. This thread has devolved tremendously in 24 hours. I'll be leaving around lunch tomorrow to head to SP. Regardless of what has been said on here, I do believe it will be a good game. I think we have what it takes to get it done, but SP always has the athletes that can score in the blink of an eye. If that happens, we have to buckle down and continue to the next play.
  18. Actually he commented on the other playoff games including the championship. Either way, I can promise he's not from Gville.
  19. Injured. He's been in a walking boot the last few weeks.
  20. Nope, I looked up his posts from last year. He's an SP guy. He commented on almost all of their playoff games.
  21. Let's put it this way...there's a difference between athleticism and talent. We've had more talent than SP in the past, but I've never seen us have more athleticism. One instance I can think of specifically is 2006. We played at SP, and I watched warmups and was blown away by the athleticism, and I was extremely worried. We won 41-14, I believe. SP was an athletic, young team that year. The next year they had the talent to go with the athleticism.
