  1. That sure is a great offer Waco, but I don't think we could EVER accomodate all those requests. Momma will not give up her CHEW for anybody.
  2. Wake obviously sees potential or there would have been no offer. That is a fact. Someone said on here that he was not impressive, I have only seen him play two or three times and didn't really single him out to watch him. But for a D-1 school to make an offer, he is either very talented OR he has the frame and potential to be molded into a very talented lineman. I am no DB fan but I am a fan of East TN and SW VA athletes getting a free ( or discounted ) education and getting to do what they love for four or five more years. Why can't we all just congratulate what is obviuously a potentially great high school / college athlete and wish him the best? Congratulations Ty, make the most of this special oppurtunity.
  3. Just listenin' to the usual preseason badgering back and forth. Did we ever settle on the location for the Jamboree?
  4. We can all see that you are an "Advanced" member now.... so I guess you must be "intelligent".....
  5. This game has "WHO'S YOUR DADDY?" written all over it.
  6. I was hanging on the edge of my seat hoping for that match up.
  7. Congratulations on the win last night and good luck in the playoffs. I got one question....who got hurt on the DB sideline and left on the stretcher? I never saw a player injury for either team. I couldn't tell if they had a player or an adult on the stretcher. I guess I was thinking it may have been an adult with a health issue or something.
  8. Greeneville definitely plays in a weak conference but they also beat the capooty out of all of them. I am not sure you could put an all star team from their conference together and practice for a month and beat them. But, they most likely will meet at least one or two teams that can handle themselves pretty good. I think they will take it to them all and bring the gold ball back to Niswongerville. Folks might as well expect more the same next year from GVille and by the outlook for their conference they should be assured of a home playoff game nearly every year until something changes.
  9. I say no because in the playoffs I don't think GVille will average 50 a game. Maybe once or twice but there are some defenses out there to help hold it down. Plus, you gotta make sure you get there. I think GVille will take it all but that needs to be the focus, not some point record.
  10. The King of Smack has spoken,
  11. I'm afraid it is not going to matter who plays very much as the outcome will be the same. We have some great kids but heavily outgunned in this one. Hopefully it will be a safe game for all involved. I will be there to support as usual and I haven't personally seen DB play this year, other than a few plays on TV and the infamous jamboree. You guys need to keep it real and you've probably got a legitimate shot this year.
  12. The Ivy League scholarship offers happen at Volunteer as well. And as you say, that's not bragging, that's fact. I seem to recall a student at Central who chose one of the Ivy league schools a year or so ago as well. I will agree with you that more oppurtunities abound at a larger school such as DB, but I also agree with another poster who seemed to say that the "bulk" of the load lies with the student, not just the program. If you are trying not to belittle another school then you failed. Success is measured in many ways and a degree from a large, prestigous university can certainly open many doors, but true success is up to the individual to measure, not society. It sounded as if you were downplaying the pre-med degree from ETSU and the soon to follow medical degree at LMU. Either way, a doctorate is going to add up to a substantial income and this student should be commended for his accomplishment, not belittled because he chose to attend a local university.
  13. Point Spread only...you fill in the blanks. Win by 14, Win by 28, Win by 28, Win by 50 ...nothing to see here folks,....move along.
  14. I don't know about visitor bleachers being approved or not, but it does appear that they have started construction on a very small addition to the existing bleachers. It doesn't look like it is very big at all and will not be done this year. It won't be long until the existing bleachers start giving problems as the ground underneath seems to be eroding causing the bleachers to "sink" in the middle a little bit. The new bathroom that was built should accomodate everyone okay I guess, but as far as seating it won't be near enough. Hope no one gets hurt for either side and good luck to you guys in the playoffs.
  15. Actually, it was three wins.... and yes, Coach Watson was head coach. Coach Barrett played on at least one of those teams if my memory serves me correct. The only three wins against DB by Volunteer football, varsity at least.
  16. Good to hear from you Coach Whit. How's Johnson County?
  17. CAP basically called out all TN High players and called them Wussies after the "debacle at db". They may have run him over the line and made a Virginia High fan out of him.
  18. I say it will be closer than people think. 14 points. And if I'm wrong, well....I'm wrong.
  19. It's hard to say which team is going to bring it. My hunch says South beats Science Hill by 14 points. Does South want to beat Carter like a drum or does Carter want to prove himself? Will either team try to run it up on the other one? I will say South 35 SH 21.
  20. Greeneville will win State. ( Barring a disaster ) Dobyns Bennett has the best chance in years to win State if they get over the Maryville hurdle. I don't know much about Hampton. The "also rans" this year in East TN appear weaker than normal, so it is hard to judge East TN teams based on in-conference performance.
  21. If I'm not mistaken Kentucky allows an extra year age-wise to play football than Tennessee. I'm thinking that turning 19 in Tennessee prior to August 1 or somewhere close to that excludes a football player from high school participation. In Kentucky, I have heard it is 20 before they are ineligible. Somebody with more computer savvy than me look into that. I'm really not sure, just heard it from a friend. I will tell you this from past experience, if you're going to play in Kentucky you need to beat the eleven on the field and all of the officials. They are typically very talented but their record also reflects lots of help from the homecookin' they receive. Not hatin', just sayin'. At least the night I was there that was the case. We still would have lost because of their talent but not by nearly as much.
