  1. Again, those guys were special. However, I think you are a little off track in thinking that the second team could have won the district that year. Also, according to team members of that season, the only time the second bunch beat the first team was when Coach Rawlings gave the second team a lead(e.g. 18-6) and let them play situational games (out of bounds, free throw shooting situations, etc) and see if the first bunch could beat the seconds to 24. Those are 'just the facts'. Besides, I never get stirred up by idiot like that. I just feel the need to set things straight. Besides, our team needs our support this year more than it needs a malcontent, so-called 'fan' shooting off at the mouth. Support our team or shut up. Justthefacts and JustAskMe should hook up and play alittle ball since they have so much in common. If they are the same person, then he could just play a game with himself.
  2. There is no doubt those guys were very good players. I was just referring to the fact that there were some good young players (Soph/Fresh) coming up that look promising. Nobody said that they were better than the above mentioned players. Time will tell how well they gel and play together in the future.
  3. I do think that all fans of the Tiger basketball program will look back on the '04-'05 season and remember how good they were. However, I think that it would be a bit premature to say that the sophomores and freshman will never be as good as that group. Individual talent does not win championships. Depth will go a long way in determining their success. It is very likely that the teams in the future will be deeper than the 04-05 team. Much better talent throughout the roster. More players able to contribute on the floor than in 04-05. That team basically played 7, maybe 8 players on a good night. Only time will tell.
  4. NEED HELP!!!! CALL IDIOT CONTROL!!!! ALL RAGE AND NO BRAIN!!!! And those are 'justthefacts'.
  5. Young is understating it. 1 senior out for the year, 2 playing. 3 juniors, 1 of which did not play basketball last year. The rest are sophomores. Inexperience is the big problem right now. Things will get better.
  6. Hey, I've got an idea! Why don't you give Coach Rawlings a call and offer up some of your basketball wisdom. I am sure he is willing to learn from such a genius. Again, support your team or be silent>
  7. Coach Craig was a very good coach at Waverly. We all wish him luck in Stewart County, except for two nights each year. However, you yourself admit later in this thread that talent alone does not win ballgames. If you want to make it sound like our present coach didn't do much two years ago with all of that talent, let's examine the situation. First of all, he was hired to be the head coach at the very end of the summer which kept him from playing in any leagues or camps at all. Then, because of TSSAA rules, he could not have tryouts until November. He could have cut about 4 or 5 of those seniors during tryouts because he needed to keep some younger ones, but he did not. Which is why they had so many the last two years. As for all of the wins with the so called talent, yes, one of the more talented teams that Waverly has had in a while. However, anyone that is objective will agree that the 2004-05 team played better defense and offense as the season wore on. And, to think that we lost to Bolivar(2 time defending state champion at the time) by only 8 or so points, on their home floor, with our big man on the bench (Hollis fouled out in early 4th qtr), our leading scorer and playmaker on the bench with a quad injury(Ralston), not to mention playing against 2 D-I prospects on the floor, just might indicate that our coach was doing a pretty good job. So, 'Justthefacts', you might need to step back and look at the situation. Be objective if you can. We appreciate the years Coach Craig was here, and maybe you played for both coaches and liked Coach Craig better. Fine, your right to do so. But don't bash our coach because of some misguided grudge. Or, maybe you are one of those players who should have been cut and got a gift instead. Maybe you should be thanking him for keeping you on the team. Our team is young and will get better as they get more experience. Support them if you are a true fan. Shut up if you are not.
  8. Obviously, you have little or no brain. I, too, have no allegiance to either, but have seen CPA multiple times and Camden twice. First of all, both are tremendously talented teams, well coached and disciplined on the field. With that said, it would be no shocker to anyone who is actually objective if either team were to win. However, all things being equal, both teams playing their 'best' game (obviously hypothetical), I do feel that Camden is more likely to pull out the win. But, both teams stand a good chance to win. Good luck to both squads and I hope it is injury free.
  9. Yeah, three plays after he ran back the kickoff 65 yards and fell because of cramping in his kicking leg.
  10. I do believe that it is still illegal touching of the ball. If it wasn't a quarterback could just hit his lineman in the back to avoid a sack.
  11. It is quite a sad state when a bunch of morons behind a computer start spouting off at the mouth. The fact of the matter is that assuming that Camden can remain focused and defeat Riverside this Friday(which I believe they will), then it should make for an interesting matchup next Friday the 27th of October. Both teams have excellent coaching staffs. I believe that Camden has more speed, while Lewis Co has more size. Both teams have good depth. I believe that the special teams are better for Camden. I do think that Camden also has the advantage when it comes to the passing game. Both teams are loaded with RBs. Obviously, Lewis Co has an off week which can either be beneficial or a detriment, depending on who you talk to. Either way, I think it will be a much closer game than either team's fans think. In the end, I think that the team that has the fewer turnovers will win. If the turnover totals are the same, I believe that the Lions win 24-14. Good luck to both teams, with either being a great torchbearer for 6-2A.
  12. The 1993 team went 8-4 and the 1994 team went 10-3. The 1995 team(the fall after you graduated) went 6-5 (lost 1st round), the 2002 team went 8-3(lost 1st round) and the 2005 team went 5-6 (lost in bowl game). These are the only years that they have played more than 10 games in one season since the late 80s. Camden is a great team, dangerous at every position. They are very deserving of their ranking and should be rated as a heavy favorite. The Tigers will need to play a flawless game to have a chance to win. However, if everything was a sure thing, Las Vegas would not exist, would it?! Good luck to both teams. It should be an exciting event for all. Bring a blanket or two.
  13. It is ridiculous to have more than 8 or 9 teams in a region when other regions have 5 or 6. Remember, reclassification has nothing to do with what makes sense and saves money, it deals with what is best for certain individuals and schools.
  14. Looks like a pretty accurate rating system. I think everyone that is rational at all would say that Camden and Lewis Co are the class teams of the region, with the remaining incredibly similar. No team with stellar offenses. #3 through #9 is wide open. It could get pretty interesting going into week 10. Good luck to all teams and keep this rating system updated as we continue to follow it.
  15. I have only two words to say to you, Mr. Neutral, ABSOLUTE IDIOT! Obviously, you are not neutral at all.
  16. I didn't realize that they allowed individuals in private institutions to play on the internet. They are 3-0, man! It is early in the season and they will continue to get better. Ease up.
  17. Hey, Vince Lombardi, how did you become such an expert on who is and who isn't ready to play?! Explain that to me, please.
  18. Unfortunately, you are mistaken 'MP'. There was an mixup on the date of the game. We were told back in the spring that your team would come here or we could play down there in the jamboree on the 12th. The Creekwood game was scheduled last spring as well. Just a mix-up. Wished it could have been played. It was a good scrimmage last year. The scrimmage with Creekwood ended with the CWHS varsity scoring on two TD passes. Waverly scored none. CWHS JV scored once at the end of the night. Much improvement is needed on the Tiger side of the ball. Still have 3 weeks to go .
