I was going to ask CP myself since I knew you would not but I did not see him anywhere.I guess you are right about one thing him and Burnette would not be put in the same group.CP's group must have been meeting somewhere else instead of the mediocre group on the field holding the Gold Ball . CP is a great qb and I am sure a credit to his school and hometown but right now BB is the #1 QB in the State.

you must have me confused with someone else because no comparison to Manning has been made by me.all I have seen is how CP is better than Burnette and the classy posts on my part has to do with standing up for BB. I did not say he was the best in the state. I said he stands out amonst the other QB's in the state.5A, 4A the results would still be the same. I do not see fans rubbing anything in your face just sending back what is being spewed.People will always try to play the class card when they have no other option. Bottom line is BB is a complete QB who knows what is expected of him and he does it. He runs the offense and makes it go.I did not say it before but i will now . The job he has done and does every week makes this team a winner and that makes him the best QB in the state. A QB's number one job is to win the game and that also makes him #1.I am sure that CP will have a fine collegiate career but in HS he and all the others are playing second fiddle.I am sure he would trade all his yards and TD's to be on the blue field come saturday.So when I ask Burnette your question as he holds the winners trophy you ask Curt mine.It ends at Murfreesboro Man!

The boast and the truth is Phillips is a great QB. There is no doubt about that . Burnette is a great QB also and there is no doubt about that either. Playing this ###### for tat who is better game is fun but not very productive. Now boasting about a QB who leads an undefeated team is expected and Burnette deserves it. No one can take away what he has acomplished this season not even Phillips.The boasting goes to the winner and Burnette is a winner. Individually Phillips is better but this is a team game and the results of this season speak loudly as to who is the better team QB.That involves more than being the most physically talented which to a great extent cannot be controlled.doing all required of you and playing to your full potential makes the difference.Burnette has a good arm and great accuracy, he throws a catchable ball and throws to the right guy most of the time. He understands the offense and runs it perfectly.The system and schemes are great but it takes the right QB to run it and Burnette is the right one.That is what makes him a great QB and what makes him standout amongst other QB's in the state. you can take a backhanded slam at Burnette and feel good about Phillips but a great QB is the one who separates himself into the group who is standing on the field at Murfreesboro with a championship. I think if you ask him he would take that over being in a certain group at a combine.If you ask Phillips I think he would take it too. So yes we all can boast about Burnette and the fact he is the best QB because of where he can take Maryville.That is what a WQB does and if he does his job the best that makes him the best.

I would have to say it is the heart of the Red Rebels that makes the difference.They roll like a machine but the kids are not like that at all. You look in their eyes and talk to them and they have that heart to stink it up and play the game. The start of it was at the WB game , they7 gave all they had and GQ gave them the win. Do what you are told and give 100% and you have done your job and the team will win.I defy anyone to question the heart of this team.They do not expect teams to roll over for them , they prepare and come to play every week.The character of this team gives them the edge every week, not their size/speed/talent. If you look at that this team is not as big, fast or talented as those of the past.If it is down to heart then this season will end up the same way last year did.

Well I thought last years game was a little one sided but this was not even a game. The beat down started early and only let up when the 2nd teamers went in. Even then they drove for a score. The difference was GQ. He seemed to change the whole offense.The game plan was brilliant not only for the game but giving any future opponent even more to prepare for. the focus on Schuler running instead of Rodrigues was a big key to the success. Turning Rodrigues into a receiver from the backfield after last weeks drops was also genius.The D seemed to be following Rodrigues at the start and that opened things up for Schuler. Burnette was awesome and his accuracy is amazing. The focus all week was to play their best game and I think they did.How many weapons do they have? How can you prepare for all of them? I also was impressed with the hitting that went on . I think the style of Rodrigues has influenced and inspired the offensive guys to give punishment instead of take it. Shiver brought the wood on D and hit harder than he has all year. He was head hunting the whole game. Douglas is a man and it is good he is not overused at this point.It will take more than two to get him down. It is almost unfair. The team that beats Maryville will have to control the line and put pressure on Burnette and get to him.It will take a perfect D game to stop them. Rodrigues is like a Slash player who showed he can be dangerous in the run game, passing game, or just blocking to open a hole for his running mates.I would say he has been one of the main sparks to this team since he was moved to RB.He has opened things up for the passing game and for ball control to rest the D. The passing game is lethal but now you cannot tee off on Burnette with the threat of Rodrigues and Schuler.Maybe not as talented as last year but could be just as good or even a better Team.Emphasis on Team.

Pitifull several times the west RB was falling forward and no call.Then they called one 2 plays later that was no penalty at all.One of the officials did not have a flag at all. I saw another one ask him and he grabbed at his back pocket and shook his head no. Now for game that loss goes to the coach who would run all over Maryville and then pass at the goal line.Our D could not stop the run but West gave us a break everytime when they got close.

Yeah since way back to last year when they won the State Championship.

I do not think that they are afraid of a fight as we witnessed against WB.These are not kids who think wins are to be handed to them The heart they showed is enough to predict a smoothe transition to 5A without much of a hitch.The better competition will only make them better and then where will the naysayers and haters want to put them?winning begets winning and there is alot of begetting ahead for Maryville.Nobody wants to be the class to stop the win streak and I say it will only intensify their "fight".the move will opnly help Maryville become a stronger team.

I really do think some really want to go down this road. WB was bigger and faster which negates where any Maryville player lives or lived. The key is Maryville is better because they had the heart not to lose. you let Quarles have WB against Maryville and the score is not even close.the biggest ALL-Star is GQ .

Shiver was definitely not 100% but he gave 110% in effort.that is not saying anything about WB at all.

Our whole family loves that movie. Brian's Song, Rudy, North Dallas Forty all good movies. A favorite in this area , Upstate SC, is "Radio" because he still roams the sidelines of TL Hanna games in Anderson.

I believe you believe what you say but that is not the same as speaking the truth unless you have some control over where he plays.your points are well taken but are flawed in that many TE's fall into this category and stay TE's.It is usually the ones who are a little less athletic to be a TE that become OT's. The ones who can move but cannot catch so well.The size speed and hands of Douglas almost guarantee TE unless he wants to move to OT.

continue what ? Whining? At 4.7 that puts Douglas right in the mix . Plus Alot of players improve their speed in College. What does the starting TE for UT run right now , 4.68? Looks like Douglas is just the ticket.Plus you have game speed and just running.Douglas definitely has game speed.

So you are saying that the DB's for alcoa are not as fast as a future OL ? Then your coach should be relieved of his duties right now.I have seen alot of big guys but they do not move like that. Look at the speed of NFL TE's , I think of all those only Vernon Davis is a 4.5 or better.Most would range from 4.7 fast for TE up to but not limited to 5.0. Hands and good feet make Douglas more than an OT with a player like that it is like having an extra OT who can score.

douglas appeared slow? when, whil.e he was pulling away from the DB on his long reception and run? he left that guy in the dust if he had not cramped up he could have hopped on one leg into the end zone from where he went down. speed is there and any coach who makes him a OT is not a very smart one.He is a playmaker period.

Boy I do not know what game you were watching but I saw a game where Alcoa was pumped and played well and Maryville took all they had and gave it right back. the running game needs to get better but they have different horses than last year. None have that smoothe speed that Tank had.coach Q was lulling them to sleep with the run game . They could pass anytime they wanted and Alcoa could do nothing to stop it. The only drawback to passing a lot is the less time on the Field for the offense and thus more for the D. Alcoa's running game had its moments but without a downfield passing game they could not do what was needed to really take it to the red rebels. The D will get even better this is still their first game now the coaches will have a better idea what areas need work.The O-line needs some work to help with the running game but even at this point , the offense is a very lethal weapon. The only thing I see is that a team has to be a very good pass defense team and decent run D team to beat Maryville.

To be the best you gotta beat the best. That means you need more than a gadget pass play and a fumble recovery near the goal line. OH , and you should try to get past midfield sometime in the second half.

Just got back from Chattanooga/Red Bank. Great game by the Rebels. Domination comes to mind to describe this one. D shut them down all night.I do not think they ever passed the 50 after that first trick play. Too many weapons for Red Bank to defend. The pass was open all night but I like the fact GQ wore them down with the run . Tank ran hard and had alot of second and third effort yards.It seemed RB D was on the field the whole first half.
