OK Clinton gave up an average of 26 pts. per game up to the LC game, you also average scoring 36 points a game. Some of those points you gave up was also to powerhouse Maryville, a pretty good Anderson County team that beat us 31-0, and an improved Campbell County team. Lets compare the last 3 games you gave up 53 points while scoring 89, LC gave up 101 points while scoring 0. Like I said before, Clinton gave up 21 points to a team that COULD NOT even get a field goal in 14 quarters of play. I never said Clinton didn't look like a second seed, that was in the quote, the main part I was using the quote for was the 42-7 prediction in that one and all the other really lopsided predictions. I am not saying Clinton only got lucky or shouldn't have beaten LC, what I am saying is Clinton better come prepared the next 3 weeks or it will get bad. I hope Clinton makes it to the playoffs and goes very far, I like many others get a little tired of reading about Maryville.

I just say what I saw. I have seen both the qbs from Powell and Clinton and my vote go to the Powell qb. If he had 300yrds total most must have been from passing and only a couple was thrown for any yardage in the air (we didn't tackle very well on a lot of plays). A screen for 40 yrds still gives the qb 40yrds passing even though he threw a lob 3 yrds out. How many rushing yards did Stone have running?

Well that didn't go as planned did it? Clinton played a team that had been outscored 101-0 the last 3 games and hadn't even scored in 14 qtrs and luckily won on a few big plays like an interception with LC 5 yrds from scoring and a couple of big receptions from the TE, don't forget about the trick play to score on 3rd and goal. The LC backs had over 150yrds rushing against the Clinton Defense. The team we played Friday night couldn't have beaten any of the teams we faced this year. I'll admit Clinton's QB has a pretty good short to mid range arm but he didn't live up to the hype that the adults on this board have given him, against, what I'll admit, isn't the greatest defense in the region by far. LC has played Clinton's 3 remaining teams and I'll predict 3 losses coming judging on what I saw Friday night.

I believe that ANY player from ANY school (including the Rebels) in TN has to have a coach or parent or someone REALLY pushing DVDs and stats and everything they can on college recruiters. TN isn't exactly thought of being one of the top places to get talent in the US. I hate to say it because I would love to see some of these kids I watched play on Friday night playing on Saturday. I know some have made it onto teams, and some from this area have done OK, but the overall percentage is really really low. Any of us with some age all know boys who got recruited and was never heard from again. The competition is so high from states like CA and TX and FL and the time coaches have is so little, it just make it so hard to get a shot. I've actually tried to think of ways to help some boys get at least a look, but so far haven't figured out anything.

Why do people always say something disrespectful right after they say "No disrespect"?

Isn't recruiting against the rules? I hope the Maryville you speak of is the college because I KNOW the high school wouldn't recruit. And by the way, that was a pretty backhanded compliment.

I'm not sure anyone really wants to do away with the stands, it's just the way the land is now. I guess it would cost more and be more work to do the improvements and keep the stands. Central only has one set of stands and that never seems right all night. Anderson County also only has one set, but at least they are nice. I really hate to see stadiums with no visitor stands, I don't like sitting in with the home crowd, makes me uneasy the whole time I'm there.

There has been talk in LC for a few years about redoing our stadium to include a track around the field and updating the stands, locker rooms etc. Part of the rumor is to put the track in we have to get rid of the visitor stands. I personally like going to stadiums that have visitor stand, even if they are just aluminum bleachers. Everyone sitting on one side tends to be crowded (2 bands and all the fans) and it doesn't feel right to me. Tell us what you think about having a visitor section across the field.

All these punishments sound good, and the coach may have went for a few of them, if these boys had more than 5 games left in their career. If he tells them that they got a 3 game suspension and have to work up the depth chart the remaining 2 games, what do you think they would do. With the attitude shown during this episode, I figure they would have went ahead and quit anyway. If these boys had been Sophs or even Jrs maybe, but not Srs. If the Vice Principle had approved their schedule change right away, two of them wouldn't have even apologized, she made them go and apologize and see what the coach said before she would change their schedules. You get in your head the team can't survive without you and they might just prove you wrong.

They were not let back on. I think part of the problem was 4th block all the players have weight lifting with the coach and the boys couldn't get out of it so the coach didn't know how to handle it (he is new here). But I agree with him, they wouldn't be back on my team either. If either of the boys who were captains think this is how you lead, they are badly mistaken. They all had a chance to apologize, and believe me, "you need me" is not an apology. The third boy who wasn't a captain did apologize, but I guess the coach made the same ruling across the board. In sports, the vast majority of lessons are taught away from the playing field, this was a big lesson for all.

Before anyone gets the wrong idea, I'm not saying the coaches just berate these boys and yell at them. I simply believe in telling a player what he is doing wrong instead of just dropping him to 2nd string, or not playing him on offense or defense anymore. These coaches seem to have the respect of the players and I hope that builds in the future, but no communication will not help a situation. You have to remember this is a whole new staff (except one) and these coaches are different than the last staff and these boys don't understand some of the things that are happening. A simple "you keep missing blocks so we will start xx until we can work on that in practice" is what I think people are looking for.

Counting the last drive, LC was within the 10 3 times. If they had scored in the first quarter from the 1 this would have been a totally different game. A little momentum LC's way would have gone a LONG way early in this game. These boys have lost so much in the past they get down easily and that stop on the goal line was huge for Central and a punch in the gut for LC. Can LC bounce back? I don't know really. This off week will help heal a few banged up players physically, but the mental healing will take a great coaching effort. I'm hearing that some players are feeling left out of the communication loop, so to speak. These guys will do whats best for the team and will change positions and play very hard, but a little explanation goes a long way, telling someone why they are getting moved, replaced or whatever helps them fix problems and improve, just moving them or benching them without COACHING them why doesn't help.

I think LC is on the edge right now, a win the season is back on track, a loss against this Central team and these boys might fold.

Why does this thread start every week? I know somebody will be the first but cmon its getting boring reading this every week for a few years now. Maryville fans can't complain about the coach, the refs, the players, the fans, or the concessions I might add (good food and clean restrooms /happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" /> ) so every week we have to see post about "doomsday for Maryville". Truth is right now the only team I think could have beaten Maryville is Alcoa and they came close but no ceegar, so undefeated and another gold ball for you (and I'm an LC fan by the way).

The clock malfunctioned this past week at Karns (wouldn't stop with the field controller) and they set it on 00 and a ref stood back behind the qb about 15 yards and kept it on a big wristwatch. I understand this rule completely and they usually do this at freshmen and JV games anyway, it is annoying for the fans, I bet I looked at those 00's a hundred times in the 4th qtr!

I think LC's quarterback came back today.

I'm hoping this week we get good news on at least a couple of the upperclassmen with injury's. I know a few will take longer to heal, but maybe a few will be back very soon. Along the same lines, does anyone know anything about the starting QB at Loudon, heard he was injured (I know he didn't play the jamboree game) just wondering if he played Friday against MC.

I don't think he cares how bad Halls beat LC last year, he said South Doyle would beat Halls not LC.

I know we don't get alot of coverage for .75 a paper. There are 3 high schools in this county, I don't really know how many middle schools and elementary schools and no telling how many rec leagues for baseball and softball in the summer, the sports section alone could be 10 pages!
