  1. If he already HAS the job, why would he care if he beats Bearden? Wouldn't the fact that he took his final team at Jeff Co almost finalize "the deal"? Easy there, Coach Rice. No need to try and make yourself look better.
  2. Heck of a ballgame for the Cyclones! The big fellas on both sides of the line led the way and Itaro and Forbes found holes all night. The DLine was in the backfield all night. Bradley played a whale of a game also. So proud to be a CYCLONE!! BRING ON THE TORNADOES!!! THE CYCLONES FROM *PODUNK* AINT GONNA BACK DOWN!!!
  3. There was one in Summer 07. I think this game will be a barn burner like most of y'all on here. I havent seen AE play this year but I have heard that they are extremely fast and I know Betsy is fast. I like how someone said that Betsy wins if they can run and I agree with that statement. If Betsy can control the clock and get Forbes and Itaro going, we can roll with anyone. Not enough info for me to make prediction but I gotta hope my Cyclones will pull it through. GO CYCLONES!!!
  4. Every coach will say that his team is fired up and ready to play. You cant trust a coach in that regard. If Witten were to say, "Ah, my guys arent going at it too hard this week but come next week we'll be ready to go." No! Thats bulletin board material. In regards to that, I used to play at EHS. I know how hard it is to get fired up to play a team that you already beat badly. THese kids are no different. My guess is, Betsy comes out flat, like they did against CG. They mess around for a while but they pull away in 2nd quarter when they realize North aint a pushover like they ended up being last time. And everyone has to remember, they are just high school kids. ANything can happen at any time. Betsy - 33 North - 13
  5. Elizabethton rolled over Happy Valley. Was never much of a game. HV shouldnt have even had as many points as they did. Total butt whooping. BUt I did see a couple things that scare me. The Cyclones HAVE to start holding onto the football. When we run into stiff competition down the road, those turnovers will come back and bite us. Good Luck to the Cyclones and Warriors through the rest of the season!!!
  6. Elizabethton is good, but not that good. They beat a subpar Science Hill team. They beat a horrible Volunteer team. Alcoa beat Maryville, they deserve ALL the 1st place votes. No doubt about that.
  7. I really don't think this will be much of a game. Maybe through the first quarter but thats about it. Betsy has too much speed and (probably never say this again for a Betsy game) but too much size. If HV can keep it close throughout, and capitalize on turnovers, they have slight chance. I don't think the'll be able to do either. EHS - 42 HV - 7 SPeaking of turnovers, and penalties, can anyone believe how UNDISCIPLINED both Science Hill and Elizabethton were last Friday? 27 PENALTIES?!?! In excusable for both teams (coaches mainly). Neither team can expect to go far if they don fix that problem.
  8. Does anyone remember the '06 Elizabethton team that was"Gonna Win STATE"? I do. 3-7!! Elizabethton will be solid this year but not State Ring material. And if ol' Betsy doesn't win this year, there might be an extremely hot seat under the HC...
  9. Haha of course every player is capable of hitting a homer at UC. A pop-up right behind second base has a chance!
  10. I think he was referring to how good they were. Only getting beat by one team other than the undefeated Gibson Co. team. I think this should be a good game. I hope the Cyclones can keep their hot shooting up and keep playing defense like they have been. If Elizabethton plays like they did against South Greene last week then they will be hard to beat. Good luck Ladies! Bring home that Gold Ball!!
  11. Amazing ball game from both ends. Gibbs has a couple girls that could play at the next level. #25 and #20 are solid ball players that play the game the right way. Congratulations Lady Cyclones!! They counted you all out at the beginning. Said you weren't as good as recent years. But you kept plugging away and got better each game. I am proud of each and every one of you! Good job Ladies.
  12. Wow. Great math. I think Elizabthton can win the game if they can play a complete game. When these two teams played in District Championship Etown played three great quarters, but lost everything (for the most part) in the third quarter. If Etown can eliminate that run from SG and stay out of foul trouble, then they can win this ballgame. GO CYCLONES!!!
  13. Good game by our girls tonight. We started off slow but kept plugging away. Way to go girls. Now take it to the RebelS!!! GO CYCLONES!!!
  14. If WG lost Ward, they may be hurting. He was a catcher for the most part (at least every time EHS played them) and he was a big stick in the lineup. With this loss and the loss of Campbell and Sauceman to graduation, WG may be in for another subpar season. Any word on how the Cyclones did in the scrimmage against TN High last night?
  15. It looks like there will be a good ball game tonight at Treadway Gym. I hope Grainger brings a large contingent and a good game. Good luck to all the girls tonight. Play hard and play with class.
  16. I've had the chance to see this Rebel team play quite a few games (most recently in a the District Championship). They are a heady team that will get up on you and play some defense. I love the way they play the game: with a lot of heart and their foot on the gas for 32 minutes. If the refs don't call fouls on them then they will be tugh for any team. The only way I see them slipping up is a lot of fouls or another rough team just like them. I saw that when Elizabethton would push and beat and bang on them, they kinda balked and let the Cyclones back in the game. If they want to make it all the way, they must limit their fouls and not be phased by teams that are identical to them. Good Luck to the Lady Rebels as they continue down the road (unless of course we meet you again /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> )
  17. I'm still wrestling with what you're trying to say. So, hypothetically, if the former record-holder blew her knee out or something in December, and missed half of a season (but still got the record), would you only count the current record holder's games up until that day in December? If you only count a specific number of games, which ones would you choose? THink about it this way, if you busted your butt for four years and reached the summitt of all personal bball records at your school, would you want someone downing you because your coach wanted to get a couple more tune-up games before the tourney? I'm guessing "No".
  18. As everyone has noted, the game last night was exceptonal. Both teams played good and both teams played with a lot of heart. I hope they meet again next Wednesday. THe game came down to EHS missing free throws and SG making theirs. Elizabethton went 13-28 from the stripe and I recall that SG only missed about six or seven. Big time players make big plays in key times. And when the pressure was on, EHS crumbled. But we are getting closer. If Powell and Pietrowski could play full games w/o foul trouble, look out Rebels. The UC CD game was also really good. Also came down to foul situations. Good luck to all our ladies. Represent our area well, girls! GO CYCLONES!!
  19. Why is everyone downing this team? They went UNDEFEATED!!! When was the last time any team went undefeated in that area? I just came from another thread that was talking about a girl that broke her school's career scoring record and some people were downing her, her coach, and her team. Talk about sour apples. The people that are downing this team look just as stupid as those downing that girl. Pretty pathetic in my opinion. Congrats Clarkrange. Don't let up yet, keep moving forward.
  20. If a player is good enough to break a career scoring record then there should not be ANY negative talk about it. I don't know this girl or the team she plays for, or the teams she plays against. If she is good enough to have played for four years, and played the game the right way (from what I've heard on here) she should be applauded for this feat. Star, if you could, would you put an asterisk beside her name in the books? Its not like she took steroids, altered her birth certificate, or anything like that. Young Lady, Congratulations!!
  21. This should be a great game like the last two. Pietrowski needs to have a good game and or defense needs to step up and play like they can. In the passing lanes, hands up, boxing out. We also HAVE to match their intensity. If they are able to play rough and avoid calls, we need to do the same. Teams that are physical like SG normally don't particularly like getting roughed up. coachh, you said it all when you called this a rivalry. These two teams dont care for each other. Good luck to both teams. GO CYCLONES!!
  22. Monday's District Championship games are between who most of us figured would be in it. Cloudland-Hampton, Elizabethton-S.Greene. THe Tri-county teams have represented well thus far in the tourney and will certainly keep impressing us. Elizabethton and Unicoi played an extremely hard-fought game yesterday and came down to the wire. Elizabethton showed some weaknesses against the press. I think there for a stretch, UC forced four or five turnovers or poor shots when they pressed the Cyclones. Elizabethton was able to hit their foul shots down the stretch to ice it. Like I said, very good showing from both teams. Good luck to all our girls as they move down the road. GO CYCLONES!!
  23. If Elizabethton plays like they did last night, then they will be extremely tough to beat. They proved that they can beat anyone (even though it was a reeling UC team) However, losses to teams like South Greene and North proved that they are beatable by most anyone. I am really looking forward to the tourney at boone. Should be quite a few excellent games.
  24. Congratulations to the Lady Devils! As has been said, it is extremely tough to win down there and Unicoi overcame the very reason it is tough. YOu get fouled a lot without calls and its a rough game. And I am with most everyone else on here. I cannot wait for the showdown in Erwin next week!! GO CYCLONES!!!
  25. Hats off to the Lady Rebels. They played an excellent game en route to a victory over Etown. Our ladies played well also but it was not enough. The key to the game was the fact that South Greene took advantage of Powell and Fritz being in foul trouble and Elizabethton not following suit when Dye was on the bench for fouls. And when both Powell and Fritz fouled out we had no answer. Like I said, hats off to the Rebels. I think the two will make deep runs in the playoffs and I'd like to see them play in the District and Regional Championship games.
