I believe this will be a great game. I haven't seen Stone play this year but i have heard that they are very good. They are in for a dogfight when they come into Treadway Gymnasium. The way the Ladies from Etown have been playing lately is remarkable. They're making the shots they should, and most of the time the ones they NEED to make. And theyre making most of their foulshots too! I have seen many remaining teams play and/or heard about their play. And I honestly believe that when the Cyclones play like they are capable, then they are state finalist material. I may be a little biased and I would love to travel to the 'Boro but I really believe our girls can do it. Good luck to all that are still fighting for the Golden Ball.

Another factor to the hose job is how can a referee hear or see a timeout being called when he is facing the other end of the court? He cannot. The horn sounded when Rapert made the shot. Does the clock stop when the ball goes through the net? NO it doesnt. It didnt but the referees made it seem like it does. We get back to how quick can someone turn and look. Could the ref turn and signal timeout in .6 seconds? Could Bayless and his eighty or whatever year old bones ask for a timeout that quick? I dont think one can really fault the clock operator himself. Whether or not he was bias as to who he wanted to win was obvious. He was. But who wouldnt be? The ones that screwed this game up from the get-go was the ones in stripes. The fouls were consistent but there are other aspects to the game than fouls. Anyways, both teams fought hard. Both teams deserved to win in my honest opinion. And, Jake Hodge, heck of a shot buddy. Last Second Shot According to the video, he got it off...without a dribble.

Elizabethton plays at chuckey doak tonight and I hope its closer than most people think. The cyclones are starting to mature some with the appearance of some guard-play in Soph. Kyle Wash. But I believe they will have to grow a lot more to be able to hang with CD, JC, and UC. Chuckey Doak by ten, but closer throughout the game.

Wes Anderson doesn't feel the same way as the "jealous" ones. He knows that p was better than him last season. He also knows that P worked harder than he did. Gary knows Wes wouldn't say stuff like that to a fellow dog. Much less a fellow teammate on Gil Paynes Cyclones. But thank you, CAP, for some motivation. "who is this kid" You'll know.

Do you honestly think that the AD has any control over how the football team or the basketball team is disciplined (the reason why both teams stunk)?

Congratulations to Gibbs High School on a good win last night. You all have a very good and very deserving ball club in Corryton. Cyclones, its hard to have to go home but we ran into stiff competition. Gil Payne has taught these young men how baseball should be played. I love watching them. Also, this group has brought the PRIDE back to Elizabethton. I also want to thank all the seniors for their hard work towards this program. They will be sorely missed the next time the Cyclones suit up. However, has anyone seen a worse officiated game. Now Im not going to take any credit from Gibbs, because they were a great team, but this game ends up differently if the men wearing navy would have been more consistent. But thats my opinion. I just want to see what everyone else has to say. Again, congrats to both Gibbs and Elizabethton for a great year of baseball.

Elizabethton is BACK to BACK District 1AA champions for the first time in school history I believe. Congrats to the boys on a great season so far, but I hope the journey continues for them. Does anyone know the gametime for Monday night?

you know this forum was supposed to be about Unaka Baseball. I dont understand why grammar, D1 schools, Elizabethton, or anything else should be on here. I also want to say "best of luck" to both the Rangers and the Cyclones on Saturday. It should be a nice battle in which I hope Unaka gives a fight to ole Betsy. That will be the best for both teams. And theres not much difference in the talents of the athletes between classes, but the amount of players with talent. Another thing that goes against all of ya'lls arguments: my coach once told me that "You dont play the team across the diamond from you, but the game of baseball itself." If a team is to play baseball the way it is supposed to be played, they WILL be successful; despite the talent levels or the cometition.

Andrew Church's arm will be used A LOT this season. Unless some of the younger players do well (Chambers and if Peters gets healthy).

I disagree with the dropping of Greeneville for Happy Valley also. One reason is, like you said rvd, because Elizabethton really has nothing to gain when they play HV. But the main reason I disagree is Elizabethton and Greeneville have the longest rivalry in the state.

Would losing to HV for the first time in less than 10 be worse than losin to Unicoi for the first time in 30-some-odd years?!?!

this basketball team is exactly like the football team in one instance - the coaches will not discipline the players. Its almost like they're scared to, as if the parents would go crazy. HOWEVER, unlike the football team, the team stepped up against a good J County team AND three horrible refs. They showed guts tonight. Hopefully they will build on that.

Ive heard that the last three games of the regular season are South, THS, and Unicoi (not sure if order is correct). Thats about all Ive heard. But I think, with the right coaching and attitude changes, Betsy can have a good year. And I dont mean in comparison with last year.

You can make a case that DB has the best team. BUT will this Indian team be the same as years past when it comes playoff time. Many good DB teams CHOKE in the playoffs.

So you're saying that if both Morristown teams receive the higher seed, theyll just move one back to Saturday? That would stink. Why wouldn't they just move the game to another site nearby?.....like Carson - Newman. That would probably be even better with the field conditions.

If Betsy wins they're in the playoffs...as the 3 Seed! I hope the Cyclones are geared up to stop Prudhomme and Atwood, because if they cant, those two studs from Mtn City WILL beat them. No, a win by Unicoi would ALMOST seal their playoff birth. If they were to win both of their remaining games, then they are in. If Unicoi wins only one of the games, and Betsy wins both, Betsy is in. If the Cyclones were to lose one in that situation then the tiebreaker would come into effect. Theres still a lot of football to be played. I like Unicoi in this one, and for the same reason as you ftball89. They just have too much to play for.

Tonite was a good game all around for the Cyclones. This was a big win. Preston Smith showed me a lot tonite. I knew he was talented, but he really began to show some great leadership. The Defense played exceptional. East couldnt get anything going until the second string came in the fourth quarter.

I think Betsy will be much improved but predicting them to be #2 is a longshot. They lost more than points when Nave graduated.

I think Elizabethton has the best team in the conference. Unicoi might be able to keep up with them for the first three quarters but Betsy's depth will beat them and the other teams in the fourth quarter. But, like you said krichunaka, games are NOT played on paper. Just ask the Cyclone football team.

Surely there will be some CYCLONE PRIDE shown at Brown-Childress Stadium this Friday. This is probably the BIGGEST game that this group of seniors have played. A win keeps your playoff hopes alive and your senior season alive. However, a loss eliminates the Cyclones from playoff contention. I pray that the Cyclones of the first half play all 48 minutes Friday. If that was to happen, then East has NO chance.

I'd like to see Boone come away with the W. But MoWest is too powerful. The longer Boone stays in it the better their chances, though. MoWest - 38 Boone - 28
