Hey formercoach81, I can tell you're an old school guy. I'm wondering if you're the retired coach I think you are living outside Jackson. Anyway, I think what you said is pretty accurate. I've seen tape with both schools and seen Munford play while scouting. Their transfers have helped them alot but you can noticably see that the other guys are playing better and a heck of a lot tougher than they did last year. It looks like they don't quit like they did before. That region may just end up in a 3 way tie. Henry Co. got a lot of preseason hype and then they had a couple of loses. Let me tell you Dickson Co and Ridgeway are no joke. Henry co is real good and has some studs. Too bad I can't see this one. Isn't it at Munford?

I don't really see anyone that can line up and go right at Ripley. They have 300 lbers across the front and these aren't short fat guys. They are studs. The tight end is a major prospect.

Probably because GC is so bad that they can't even line up. This is coming from a former Pioneer here.

I agree one year does not make a program. I saw East play several times over the last few years and the Mustangs have always been a run first style offense which opened up the pass and allowed them to control the clock and thus the game against most teams. Is the new plan to turn East into a more pass based offense? I believe that the mustangs will most likely end up in the 4 spot which as it looks now will put them traveling either to Henry Co. or to Munford. That would be a big game East vs Munford. I think Henry and Munford are tied for first place in region 7 so the winner of their game is a game up in the region and will host the 4 from region 8. I think I would travel north to see East square off against their old coach! What do you think?

If the freshman game last night is any indication of what will happen tonight, then they don't have much to talk about.

It was not a knee injury. It was a hamstring injury. And quit making excuses, they ran right over the top off him and were doing it even before that happened. Heck, it would have been even worse if Munford didn't totally self destruct on one drive by jumping offsides 3 times plus give up an 80 yard kickoff return.

That's because Munford gave it all they had in the first half. The size and athleticism wore them down in the second half. And no, Ripley is 3A.

He's still the starting quarterback. They move Madison around to different places. Madison was always a shotgun QB at MElrose. Munford runs the wing T.

I've heard one more embarrasing loss and a Mayflower truck will be sent to the coach's house.

I've seen many in TN such as Chad Clifton, Al Wilson, Trey Teague, but the best by far was in Fla, Deion Sanders (North Fort Myers High).

Are you kiddin. Netherland is one of the best coaches ever in the state of Tennessee and has done a phenomenal job with a brand new program. Heck, those kids were winning games in their first year. Germantown will never be the same without him.

Ripley-bigtime

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't Henry County ranked No 1 in the state at the beginning of the year. It seems some people think they have some talent there. I know their QB is a stud.

He got in a few times but didn't do much. The Ripley line was just too big and athletic. I'd be suprised if they didn't make it to at least the semi's. They're loaded.

How many times do we have to get this straight? Ther is ONE player from East that transferred because he wanted to stay playing for Randall. There is ONE player that transfered from Frayser who is his cousin. Both moved to Munford. Madison from Melrose was going to transfer to East last year after he was benched to play for Coach Randall. After he was benched this year, his family picked up and moved to Munford because they know Randall can get the kid in a college which would be a lot harder sittin on the bench at Melrose. And no, it was not easy because his whole family had to move an hour away. Before you start "distasting" everything, maybe you should learn the facts.

It's good to see Humboldt getting good again. I played at GC in the late 80s back when Milan and Humboldt were powers and Union City and Westview were good too. I'm glad to see it's getting back to that.

I was told he didn't play much. He has a bum ankle. Also he still doesn't know much of the offense either. He did return a few kicks though. I heard from a ref that Ripley has tall 285 lbers across the front plus a 275 lb stud tight end. I was also told by more than a few people that Ripley had the best, biggest line they'd ever seen on a high school team and that their loss to Dyersburg was a fluke because of turnovers.

Well said. You don't win 10 games a year every year and have no control. I laughed when I saw that. As a matter of fact, I was told by a TSSAA ref that Wayne had more control over his players than any other city coach.

East did win the state about 6 years ago. He went to the playoffs every year. He averaged 9 or 10 wins for 10 straight years. Let's just say he was forced out and it had NOTHING to do with wins or losses or any misconduct or wrongdoing or $ on Wayne's part. He was blindsided. It was very unfortunate. Since he moved to a new district he can play.

They are. The family all moved at the first of the week. They now have a Munford addy. They did it so Courtney could go to college instead of rusting away at Melrose.

It is funny, especially since it had NOTHING to do with money or even anything inappropriate by Coach Randall. It's a joke. They got what they deserved with Melrose and the future doesn't look much better for them. There is a chance they could end up in the playoffs playing Munford. Wouldn't that be a sight.

As soon as they report back to footbsll sfter Christmas is when you want to start. That way you can go through all of the conditioning and spring practice. However, it's rare that walk ons ever get much playing time.
