  1. Congrats JPII on a great win. If you can win out there is a home playoff game in the cards.
  2. Congrats to the Big Red. Ryan sounded very over confident about this game. They must have based their predictions on the fact that JPII beat MBA and Ryan beat JPII. Always a mistake! Each week is different and each game is different and the factors that contribute to a win or loss are more complicated than 1+1=2. Good Luck to both teams the rest of the way. P.S. Where is Ole Dad who predicted a melt down of the MBA squad? If you are so bold as to make such a ridiculous prediction you should come back to take your lumps when you are wrong.
  3. Agreed! There is so much speed and talent on the JPII team and it is NOT utilized, even tonight with a win against MBA. Way to go Knights! Keep improving!
  4. I believe in the last 2 weeks multiple people have scored not just Golden. Check the stat sheet.
  5. I agree that JP2 needs to play more explosively considering the talent that they have on both sides of the ball. Play your best and leave it all on the field. There are only a few hours to game time. GO KNIGHTS!!
  6. That's why we are here. Everyone has an opinion. I believe Golden is the best talent in Tennessee.
  7. Let me start off by saying I think the coaching staff is as good as any if.....they stop reliving the glory of their BA days and coach JP2. JP2 can be as good as any team if they trust their players. Most of the players are there because they want to play football; they are coachable. There is as much talent on the JP2 team this year as any team I have seen. COACHES: Coach for the present and future and quit comparing JP2 players to your past. Knightime I believe that Shaver has taken over alot of the O-calls. Brothers needs to take over the defensive calles if he is dissatisfied with the results. With a strong defense this team is 4-0 right now.
  8. There is not alot of information on the TSSAA website. I assumed they were staying in D2AA. An article in the Tennessean (BGA, Ensworth Move Up) said there would be 14 teams in D2AA. I know Harding Academy moved down so that leaves 14 for the combined classification including Webb.
  9. For anyone who has not seen Golden play you should at some time this season. Golden Tate is the best player in the state. NO question!
  10. JP2 needs to be consistent on defense and unless they are they lose this game narrowly just like Goodpasture. Their coach should have these issues resolved and don't be surprised to see Golden in more on defense because of his speed. Passing will probably be the primary offensive plan; however, ECS's QB ran for 60+ yards against MUS as did another ECS player. JP2 play consistent and you win, 21-17.
  11. When can we expect to see how D2AA will be divided. I am assuming because of the number they will have to go to at least 2 regions. What's happening in D2A? I know Harding Academy is the only team to stay down so what does that mean for A (regions or not)?
  12. Ryan wins this game by 21. They may have been flat last week but they will rebound with a vengence this week. Ryan has had their issues in the last few years but this year's team is very much improved from those teams and they will win big. Go Irish!
  13. Wow I am impressed at how smart you are. JPII fan must have really gotten under your skin. I think you should keep your cool fieldman. It ain't that big of a deal.
  14. Certainly seems like a chip fieldman! When I said move on I did not mean for you not to post here (your response to my post sort of enforces why I think you have a grudge or chip on your shoulder about JPII). I am glad to read your opinions no matter how much I disagree with them. Hoosier Dad there is no reason for you to understand the "little man" or what I call the "little brother" mentality of JPII if you have not been on the receiving end of Ryan's insults and attitudes. I could go into detail but won't digress any further. JPII wins this one.
  15. Even if Ryan does not beat Franklin they could still be 4-1 going to MBA and have 2 region wins under their belts. Sounds like a great scenario for the Irish even if they do lose to Franklin.
  16. It was relatively easy to beat Webb from what I heard around the stadium that night. They only scored the last td because third teamers were in. Actually alot of Webb's starters are seniors so I don't know how much rebuilding they are doing this year since they will lose those players to graduation. But back to the subject...JPII was the underdog last year and pulled off a pretty impressive win. They hopefully have it in them again. Go Knights. Fieldman, having seen your posts here you seem to have a chip on your shoulder about JPII. Maybe you should really move on and stop putting JPII down for the sake of putting JPII down. What thrill do you get out of that Fieldman? If you do get a thrill out of it that is pretty sad...
  17. I agree with you Bauber...also winning in D2AAA is a different animal. D1 is D1 but D2 is always up for grabs. The teams are so evenly matched that you can never tell who could win. One state championship doesn't a powerhouse make. I think Ryan has a fine tradition of football but I would call BA a powerhouse (9 titles), MBA (8 titles), even last year's champion MUS (3 titles) has more state titles than Ryan (2 titles). Ryan has been off the winning track for so long that it will be a while before they will be considered a "powerhouse". We will have to see if the first few wins this season are an aberration like the past several years. Even if they make it to state they will have to repeat to be considered "back" as a "powerhouse". They have to win consistently for a couple of years at least.
  18. I don't think this will be the toughest game yet for Ryan. The toughest yet was JPII. And MBA surely won't be a walkover but they are down with quite a few injuries (4 starters that I know of). I think the Irish will beat Franklin by a sizeable margin. 35-17 Irish.
  19. I agree JPII had some defensive weaknesses but it sure was hard for Ryan to pull out the win against JPII so there is defense to build on at JPII. I think that JPII beat themselves in the Ryan game (i.e. the fumble on the 10 yard line on a drive that would have put JPII up 28-17). As for Goodpasture, they may be better than Ryan but I still believe that JPII can win this one. JPII 24-21
  20. I think there is always "home cooking" in east, west and middle tennessee, but having been to a lot of memphis games in the past, there is definately more "home cooking" in memphis from the refs. I agree that 2 calls against a coach for unsportsmanship is uncalled for. I have seen coach rutledge coach and he seems very controlled. It must have been something for him to lose his cool.
  21. Here are the stats from JPII v Webb Individual statistics Pope John Paul II Rushing Stephen Catagnani 6-34 Courtney Coffey 2-1 Golden Tate 13-54, 1 TD Wesley Tate 16-172, 2 TD Passing (CMP-ATT-INT-YDS) Stephen Catagnani 4-8-1-62 Receiving Tyler Baldridge 1-13 Josh Lovett 2-20 Wesley Tate 1-29 Kicking (FG-FGA XP-XPA Pts.) Anthony Mantegani 1-1 3-3 6 My bad his reception was for only 29 y and not 30 and 172 y rushing not 176. I am not a stat man so I was a little off. Still pretty good.
  22. Wesley Tate from JP2 is a great athlete. He had a great game against a very good Webb team (16 rushes for 176 y and 1 reception for 30 y and 2 TDs).
  23. I agree that Goodpasture is much improved from last year but I still think JP2 has a shot at winning this game. Don't be too sure that Father Ryan is not better than GP. Ryan is a very strong, very fundamentally sound team this year. I believe Lussier is a much better coach than GPs coach any day. JP2 wins 28-24
