  1. Anderson Co. 8 - Kingston 5
  2. I agree you have had a tough schedule. Though, as far as the Loudon game, go back and check the box score. It should be: Loudon - 10 runs on 10 hits and 4 errors Alcoa- 7 runs on 6 hits and 4 errors That is a lot less than eleven.
  3. Anyone have any info on them?
  4. How did you guys do against Anderson Co. and who pitched and caught for Anderson Co.?
  5. Powell is in need of some scrimmages next week. If interested contact Jeff Inman at 865-742-2857.
  6. I actually did contradict myself about the year to year thing. If you don't know there are a lot of transfers. But, hey, that is about the constant in the district from some of the teams. Let's get by that and still get ready to play.
  7. I will say this - Byrge from Anderson Co. is probably the best with Kolinsky from CAK right there with him. We will see what happens for the rest.
  8. Bottom line- In this district or even in Sevier Co. Seymour (Norman-Great-consistency) has the best coach (Cannon was very good) and has the best history (I mean Norman) by far (actuallly you need to give Gibbs a lot of credit for two state tournament appearances over the last few years). I am still saying give the overall credit to Norman (I think more than two state tournament Appearences) and expect them to be there yet again.
  9. Bottom Line- Anderson Co. is the undoubtably the favorite this year. If you want to use the logic of taking the best pitcher off every team last year out of the equation (i.e., Justin Thompson, Loudon) it would have been totally different last year. Again, also take the best pitchers from each individual team off last year and they are not near of the team they would have been. That is just highschool baseball. Some people on this website focus too much on year to year. Other than some obvious (recruiting) from year to year there is not a wholesale change. JUST GO OUT THERE AND BEAT WHOMEVER AND PROVE IT.
  10. Weak Conference (or District as it is called)? Let's go over some of the recent history. The core of this district since '98 has been Anderson Co., Kingston, Loudon, Lenoir City (before their move to AAA in '06). There have been 3 state tournament appearances out of this district from '98-'06 with Anderson Co. and Loudon finishing in the top FOUR in the state the last two years and Kingston appearing in '98. There have also been FOUR Regional Championships ('98-Kingston, '00-Loudon, '05-Loudon, '06-Anderson Co. who BEAT Loudon for the Regional Championship) in this time period. Loudon was two runs away from giving District 4-AA Two state appearances last season. Any way you slice it, that is not a weak district. Furthermore, the two teams added last year (CAK and Catholic) obviously did not even make it out of the district. If you want to go back before '98 there were radically different districts and you would still find state tournament appearances. I think Catholic has a good coach in Sullivan. But give Coach Thompson a little credit for his accomplishments: 1. Over 600 wins 2. In the TBCA Hall of Fame 3. District Championships- '94,'96,'99,'00,'01,'02,'04,'05 District Runner-up-'95,'97,'06 (This is 11 Regional appearances out of the last 13 years) We could go on with more before '94 but I think you get the picture. Also, Coach Mike Guinn has only been in the District 2 years and has a Championship, Runner-up, and State Tournament appearance along with Kingston's Bruce Robinette with a State Tournament appearance. So, I think, this District has some pretty good coaches.
  11. On that note: Loudon did it to McMinn Central in 1986 (would be nice to still be in that district this year) and I think it was 1995 when Seymour came back and beat Loudon twice in the championship when they were in the same district. You guys have a great tradition (Seymour). I can't say the same for Anderson Co. (winning district championships- not one since they dropped down to AA and I don't know about one when they were in AAA), but they do have a great team this year and have been good for a while even though they have not won any district championships.
  12. Hold on, D-4AA is not quite over yet. That might very well be the the game in the first round of the regionals, but it has not been decided yet. Loudon and AC play tomorrow for the championship but Loudon will have to beat them twice. Don't count them out yet.
  13. Continues to play a tough non conference schedule? Granted you lost to Webb 10- 8, which is a quality team. You lost to Alcoa 8-2 which is around .500 (the coacht schedule is not accurate). You lost to a Knox West team which is down this year. The rest of your non conference schedule is Sweetwater, Rockwood, Alcoa, Grace Christian, and Union Co. if I am not mistaken. This is NOT a strong non conference schedule. Kolinsky is a very good pitcher and you have a shot when he is on the mound. But please, win another big game before you talk about being ranked. (you do have a losing record so there is no way you would be ranked unless you make it to the state tournament).
  14. My point was probably not delineated too well. Their is no way you can tell me that private schools do not have the advantage for what they can offer. I went to a private school in my early years and then public later. There is no doubt the education is better. But I know that if you compared every private to public you would find more transfers to private vs. public (sport specific). You are REALLY kidding yourself if this is not true.
  15. Really, let us face it: I am an east tennessee guy (public school) that has never seen USJ play. It appears that you are a very good team according to the scores and the caliber of the teams that you have beaten. I know you are tired of hearing this, but do you really think it is fair competing with public schools with some of the obvious advantages you have. Do not tell me you don't have an advantage in recruiting and facilities (which I would take also). Don't get me wrong, I am all about competition but you have just moved up from A to AA and are doing extremely well. Is this not at least a little bit odd that you have not missed a beat. I mean, come on, their is recruiting in public schools, but it is a lot easier in the private landscape to do it legally also. Think about this when you get on here and brag about your school. I guarantee you getting a team to compete at AA public school is a lot tougher than what you have to do being a private school. Really, don't give me any lame excuses, is so go to DII.
  16. Loudon who? I assume I need to educate you on who Loudon is in relation to Disrtict 4-AA and Anderson County's time in the district (after they dropped down from AAA). Loudon has won 5 out of the last 6 District Championships with Lenoir City winning the other one. Anderson County did beat Loudon in 1999 in the Regional. You are just another player on this forum for Anderson County year after year that always seems to speak before the end of the season about how good you are. Anderson County has had some very good teams and will be good again this year. PLEASE let the season play out before you start talking smack again. This happens every year since coacht has become popular. You might very well win the district, region, substate, and go to the state tournament which takes a special (and a lot of luck) season. Give Coach Thompson some credit and go beat his team on the field, and if you do that, congratulations. It will be the first time that you have won District 4-AA.
  17. Well pitched game by both pitchers. The line: Mills- 7IP, 5 HITS, 8K's, 1BB, 1HBP, 2 RUNS, 1 ER (1 Error by defense) Everett- 6IP, 4 HITS, 11K's, 2BB, 2HBP, 4 RUNS, 1 ER (3 Error's by defense)
  18. For your information - Everett is far from being worn out. He has pitched only 42 innings this year and sometimes gone 5 or 6 days without pitching in a game due to rainouts. Also, our #2 Thompson has a .57 ERA, 37 IP with the LC game coming up Thu. so he should surpass Everett for the most IP on the team. He has pitched against some solid teams and even has a better ERA than Everett (.83). These are two very good pitchers. Don't accuse a coach of wearing a pitcher's arm out unless you know all of the facts.
  19. Word has it that (from Dodger scout who is going to watch) Everett will pitch on Thursday at Loudon.

  21. Come on, give them the credit they deserve. Their schedule is more than adequate and any coach would be stupid to schedule every out of district game with a powerhouse a classification above them. Realistically, it is not even possible with scheduling conflicts and some of those AAA teams not wanting to play them to possibly look bad. Don't worry Walker Valley will soon be AAA and will probably handle the transition as well as they did a few years ago from A to AA. And no, I am not a fan of their school but have played and coached against them.
  22. Automatic- the first two runs were earned. Both pitchers brought their "A" games with Duncan striking out five and giving up four hits in seven innings and Everett giving up three hits in and striking out eight in six innings. A hit batsmen scored the first run and the third and fourth runs got aboard on errors. So even with that factored in LC still wins. Great game and congratulations to them.
