Wow, this topic makes me sick with all the ignorance!

How can I even respond to posts like these??? No common sense, and complete ignorance... I just hope the early posts on this topic were actually a joke, and were not meant in any seriousness...

Nicchaeus is the best player in Class A, with the possible exception of Xavier Webb, period. This is easy to see. It's like you all HOLD IT AGIANST the kid for being a 6'8 great athlete??!!! That is a joke: that's what the kid is, a 6'8 athlete who dominates offensively, defensively, and on the boards...

In a "down" game, he has 19 points and 13 boards, and got the W! What the heck else do you want???

Heck, who's still in the State Tourney??? (even without Partee on the roster???)

Nicchaeus got HIGH MAJOR looks, and would have had his choice of High Major offers had he not signed early, but he found a great fit for himself... The kid is a flat out player!

These posts are so ridiculous and without any obvious knowledge of the game of basketball, it's a joke...

gomab,

i just want to let you know that i totally agree with your opinions. without doaks, peabody has nothing. unaka had THREE people boxing him out(or trying to) which allowed other players to get offensive boards and easy put backs. not to take anything away from caleb because he is a great player but remember he is not being TRIPLE teamed the whole game. doaks has got a lot of respect and i think it is well earned. he will succeed at utc and im excited to see everything he will accomplish. by the way, i am not biast towards him i was a just there to see basketball and he definately stood out more than any other player. ohh yeah, did i mention that unaka had THREE people guarding doaks at all times. gomab u do a great job and keep it up.

Hey Gomab could you compare Doaks to anyone near the Nashville area preferably Sumner Co. From what it sounds like he plays kind of like Tyler Troupe. Tyler can hit the three but doesnt dominate but he also plays 3A ball. So he has som ekids that match his height. I dont want to hear some biased opinion so thats why im asking for yours.

Thanks for the post, naismith...

And, I just saw Nicchaeus did all that taking only 10 shots!!! And he even went 1-1 from threes!!!

Rahobk... It's tough to really compare him to anyone in middle Tn... He is a bit like Troupe, but more effective... Troupe is more perimeter oriented...

I would say the closest comparison in Middle Tn might be Siegel's Keith Ramsey, though Doaks is clearly better right now (though Ramsey is just a Junior, and is still a future star)...

But what tops it off, and makes me even more mad about these posts, is that Nicchaeus is such a great kid!!! He has such a great personality, and is a true please to both coach and simply be around... The kid definitely has earned all of the great things to come his way, and best of luck to him the rest of the State Tourney...

I agree with you on everything but the fact that you think Peabody is nothing without him. Everyone here knows how I feel about Nicchaeus Doaks, but our team is hardly "nothing" without him. There you go.........emphasizing that ONE player makes the WIN. AGAIN.........Nicchaeus is an awesome basketball player, but he cannot and does not do it alone............and he too will tell you that.

Although I don't agree with Gomab all the time, I would have to say he's right on this one. Doaks is very good. I didn't see the game in question, but often in high school it's possible to scheme out a player like Doaks and limit him somewhat. I saw it happen with David Harrison and Lorenzen Wright, and both those guys are in the NBA now. In my opinion, it's easier to do this with a post player because he is dependent on others to get the ball in his hands. It's much harder to shut down a great guard.

Ramsey, right now, is a better basketball player than Doaks. Its close. But they are similar in height and athletic ability but Ramsey has some of the skills and basketball IQ that Doaks lacks. Ramsey had an amazing game last night, was very proficient from the floor. He contributed with blocks, assists, steals. Ramsey is an all-around solid player. The thing that separates Ramsey and Doaks is that Ramsey has fewer weaknesses than Doaks. Although, neither have very many weaknesses.

In height?.............Nicchaeus seems to be quite a bit taller than Greg.

Doaks is about an inch taller than Keith Ramsey...

Doaks shoots the three better than Ramsey...

Doaks is a better shot blocker than Ramsey...

Doaks is stronger than Ramsey...

Doaks is a better rebounder than Ramsey...

They both score very well inside, so I'll give that a toss-up...

Both are great athletes...

Both are adequate, but not great, passers...

Defenses key on Doaks MUCH more than Ramsey as well, since Ramsey has Top 40 Jr's Oden, Roper, and Jones to take the defensive pressure off him...

Again, this is nit-picking, as they are both great players with great futures...

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
