Add the Reebok Southeast Elite to the list of top 15U teams. This past weekend they qualified for the Nationals by finishing 3rd in the Birmingham Alabama AAU Super Regionals. The Elite took two teams down and ended up splitting their big men between the two teams. They matched up against the Birmingham Challenge the game before the championship and they start 4 players that are 6'5 or better. The match up caused the Elite some problems on the board. They turned around and smoked the Birmingham Challenge's second team by 40 in the consolation game. The Elite was led by Hunters Lane's Josh Henley who averaged 24 per game, Madison Alabama's 6'11" Bawah who had 7 dunks in the consolation game, Hunters Lane's Erik who averaged 10 per game with a 20 point performance against the Challenges first team hitting 5 3-pointers, Cookeville's Judah Akers who went 7-for-9 from 3-point range to score 21 in the team's second game, and scored on 5 3-pointers in the first game, Weaver Alabama's Tanrance Landrum who was tremendous defensively, averaged 15 per game, and at 5'11" had a monster dunk in the consolation game. Culleoka's DeMario Williams made it to the tournament on the last day and played excellent defense and distributed the ball well at the point guard position. He didn't score a lot of points as he is capable of because of his role that the point. Jackson's 6'8" Brennan Torstrick played very well on the boards day two of the tournament. The team went 5-1 (3-0 in their pool) playing 3 games Saturday and 3 games Sunday. They went into Sunday as the 3rd seed because although the beat their first two opponents by 30, they wond their 3rd game by 2 points. The two Challenge teams won all of their games by 15, playing on two games on Saturday. The Elite was not as fresh in game three.
