Wow, a terrible feeder program, lack of dedication by the players, and a coach nobody likes. It looks like Sevier Co. has it alot worse than anyone thought. They need to revamp the little league, find some players serious about what they are doing, and find a coach everyone likes. Oh yeah, get in a new district so they can win a few games. You will never beat Farragut, South Doyle, or Bearden. So good luck! thumb

So do those quotes mean that Sevier County will have a new head coach next year? That could do the program some good. Get someone in there who knows what they are doing. One that will not get up in a kids face and scream at him, calling him retarded and a moron.I dont blame these 2 kids for leaving. Maybe if the coaching was more dedicated to the program, the players would do the same. It's called leading by example, and he sure didnt do that. Maybe a new coach wouldnt launch a personal attack on the kid because he isnt being mechanically perfect. This is high school baseball. Nobody is perfect. I think coaches should be stern, dont get me wrong, but not by getting in a child's face and yelling at him because he misplayed a groundball. Errors occur all the time. Its part of baseball. thumb

You are right dirk, and GoodtoGo has close ties with the "kid" you are referring to that was a poor excuse for a teammate last year so dont pay any attention to what he says.  One of Sevier Countys problems is the opening of Pigeon Forge high school.  If you havent noticed, all the SC sports programs have went down over the past few years for the most part, Football, Baseball, Basketball.  If you dont have the talent you cant win.

I have no idea who you're talking about, but I do know a few of the baseball players, including the one's who missed the district game, YES THAT IS A DIRECT REFLECTION OF THE COACHING, IF THEY LIKED YOU AND WANTED TO PLAY FOR YOU THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE, IT'S NOT THAT THEY DON'T LIKE BASEBALL THEY DON'T LIKE YOU, ALONG WITH EVERYONE ELSE.

 

Yes, I have noticed that Pigeon forge has taken some talent from SC, there was already one kid who transferred and he is in MEMPHIS right now. HAHAHAHAHAHA

Well yea our little league finished 2nd in the region last year, so good call on that one. 2nd of all, our coach has no idea about baseball and calls us everything he can think of so why take it seroius? Oh yeah, and $20 says your school couldn't beat them either.

Yeah he is gone, but I don't think he really did anything this year, he is a talented baseball player though.

 

The girls basketball team isn't even good anymore.

 

I guess coach wilhite is not going to talk anymore, he is gonna let his coaching do the talking. HAHAHAHAHA

yes unfortunately he will be moving on to bigger and better things. Nice to hear from you goodtogo11. What, in your opinion, will it take for Sevier co. baseball to ever be successful? As far as I know they have never had success.

I personally think they need a feeder program so the kids know how to play when they get in high school ( I heard they started a middle school team), and they need a coach, not a drill sargeant. A good coach cares about his kids and their feelings plus the way the team is playing. Not about collecting his extra $500 or whatever they get paid. You can't get a 15-18 yr. old kid to listen to you by yelling at the top of your lungs, you have to connect with a kid and earn respect from him before he will listen to you. I played for many a coaches in my day and I've listened to everyone I respected, but I don't respect someone getting in my face and screaming at me. ITS BASEBALL NOT BOOT CAMP.

Yes, there have been several coaches in the program in the past couple of years, the school shows no support of the baseball team and they don't get any money. When I played there the AD came to watch us play pigeon forge and sat on there side at our home field! They had Larry Cannon there 5 or 6 yrs. ago and he didn't want to stay because of this reason, but now he has taken the tigers to the state tourney.
