GLee
Jay Moreland from Goodpasture has a 1.8 Pop time if I am not mistaken. I have to say that is the best in the state. 825682682[/snapback] No doubt, if the throw is on the money...... and the right person is handling the stop watch??? chip10
i've seen some great catchers and i know of only 1 guy that i saw in college this year that maybe threw a 1.8 and that guy was the catcher at jackson state. he was awesome. he was drafted out of high school last year as a senior and is suppose to go in the top 5 rounds this year after just his freshman year! biggity
brett basham from bearden threw a 1.81 at the Perfect Game National last year at Tropicana Field
RHSBASEBALL99
There are quite a few TN catchers currently in HS or recently out who are capable of throwing sub 2's consistently. Last year Kirkland was in the 1.7's. Moreland has an article about his in the 1.8's. I was between 1.81 and 1.98 my junior and senior years. But back to what the thread was about, it doesn't matter how quick the catcher is. If the pitcher takes too long getting him the ball and the runner gets a good jump, there's no chance. It is a math equation.
chip10
that is definately true. well someone told me one time i threw a 1.85 but i still don't think there was any way because i was throwing guys out by 10 feet or more last year and my pop time was consistently probably a 1.95. i just think a 1.8 is nearly impossible i mean most of the pros don't do that and not many people in high school can match them at such a young age

Alot of the times have to do with who has the stop watch.
RHSBASEBALL99
Good point with the stopwatch. The times I listed were times in a practice/showcase setting. Game times will be slower. My game times were about 1.95 pretty consistently, some better some worse. But no matter how quick it is, accuracy is a must.
baseballaforever
1.1 pop time for the pitcher isnt to shabby i must say
festor
I have found in all my years of baseball that the best way to keep a base runner from stealing is simple. Thats to not allow base runners.
