Roush signs driver to drive #6 car

I'd really be surprised as well, to see Mark return for another full season, as he has stated repeatedly in interviews, that he couldn't take another year emotionally and physically, but who knows? If Roush has to wait another year for McMurray, I don't believe they will be content to just put some lame duck in the #6 car. So...wishful thinking for me, I see Mark Martin behind the wheel, at least part of next year.

It does look like it's a done deal with Mark driving again next season. After reading and watching interviews and reports, I'm more than a little upset with the way Jack Roush is handling this. He knows for a fact that Mark would never leave him in a bind, so he puts on the sad face and tells Mark that he doesn't have a driver. What's Mark going to say? "Of course, I'll drive next year."

Roush knows Mark is tired of the travel schedule and wants to spend more time with his son, Matt. Mark has stated exactly that! After all he's done for Jack Roush and Roush Racing, you would think he would have a little more consideration for Mark and his family. Like Muffin and I have stated in earlier posts, Mark is THE reason why Roush Racing is what it is today!

What's he going to do if Mark goes out and gets hurt next season, God forbid?!? Then, how's he going to feel? Of course, seeing what he's done to him with this whole deal, he probably wouldn't care!

I love watching Mark race, and I'm going to miss seeing him out there every week. I don't believe there has ever been a more honest, cleaner racer out there, but it's time for Mark to do what Mark wants to do. He has nothing more to prove to me or anyone else out there.

Sorry for ranting, but I had to get that off my chest!

Great post. I am with you. The selfish part of me wants to see Mark race another year. He is a class-act, and a true representative of good sportsmanship.....

    • While I appreciate being credited with multiple accounts, I have to say that is not true. Will you please report back to your people that I am not someone who provides sharp, witty banter, but rather someone who is putting the shoe on the other foot for some people that have been repeatedly bashing others here and in real life for the past few years? Everything that I have stated has been backed by factual evidence or public record, so no need to be sharp and witty.
    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
