hi this is kate woodard. i've never posted anything on coacht before but i thought i needed to post on here thoughts straight from the source. right now i am sitting in the hospital bed and am doing fine. my breathing, bloodcount, temperature, etc. is all in a pretty healthy state. i should be out of the hostpital in about 10 days from now and then will recover at my house for an aditional 2 weeks or so. i will return to school in about a month and may possibly be able to play by the end of the high school season. i thought by posting here i would be able to reach a lot of people at one time. i would like to thank EVERYONE who has come by, called, or prayed for me. i cannot even begin to express how thankful i am for all of your thoughts and caring actions. my soccer team, the people at FRA, and the soccer community throughout tennessee has been wonderful and i am so grateful for your support. what happened to me last saturday was nothing more than an unfortunate play where i collided with a well respected forward who was doing nothing more than trying to put the ball in the back of the net. there have been some reports and rumors flying around and i would like to set them straight. i am in no way angry or upset at the situation. although i would give anything to be back on the field on my team, i understand that injuries are a part of soccer and are just another part of the game that you have to work hard to overcome. thank you to everyone who has been there for me this past week. i am really thankful, especially to my best friends lyndsey almon and kendra wills who have been here to check up on me EVERYDAY. i love you all and cannot wait until i see everyone back on the field!

Kate, I'm very impressed with the mature appraoch that you have taken to your unfortunate injury. I don't know you but can see that you must be a very special young lady and athlete. Soccer is a rough sport and the dedication and courage of good goalkeepers always impresses me. I'm glad that you are doing well.

God speed your recovery and return to the sport you obviously love.

Nice post for a first timer sitting in a hospital bed. Its refreshing to see a mature post like this from a high school kid who just suffered a pretty severe injury given some of the immature posts from adults that too often make their way on to these message boards. Sometimes us old folks can learn a thing or two from the young ones.

Great to hear that you are doing better, and hope you continue the good progress.

Very nice of you to understand that no one intended to hurt you, but that it was just an accident which unfortunately is part of any sport.

We will continue to pray for you!

Kate,

Your teammates at Redoubt all wish you the best and look forward to seeing you very soon. We are still keeping you in our prayers and know that you will be fine. You have shown us all what really great courage you have and how you have been so good for other players that have been injuried to use your courage to help them as well. You are truly a great young lady that is very strong to be able to handle your injury with so much maturity and grace.

Thanks,

Curtis Blair
