Knoxville Halls vs Gibbs

I have read and heard the past two days about how the Halls 38-7 football win over Gibbs was such a great win. A win is always great but the Gibbs Football program is the worst in Knoxville. Halls has a good team and is well coached. They will have a good year and many years to come.

The only consolation or justification for such a poor overall record for the Gibbs cprogram is that A-E and Fulton were in the region. The nonregion opponents were extremely weak and account for the majority of the wins for Gibbs.

1993    6 wins 6 losses

1994    1 win  9 losses

1995    3 wins 8 losses

1996    4 wins 7 losses

1997    8 wins 3 losses

1998    3 wins 6 losses

1999    2 wins 8 losses

2000    3 wins 7 losses

2001    1 win  9 losses

2002    4 wins 6 losses

2003    2 wins 8 losses

2004    4 wins 6 losses

Reg Season Record=44 wins 83 losses = 34.6% win % and 65% loss%

Playoffs Record      = 2 wins- 4 losses =  33.3% win % and 66.6% loss %

Overall records past 12 years = 44 wins and 83 losses

Interesting stats on Gibbs Football:

20 of the 44 regular season wins were against Union Co(7), Claiborne Co(5), Rutledge(6), Jellico(2).  In the past 12 years Gibbs has lost 5 games to Rutledge, 1 game to Union Co, 1 game to Jellico.

When and where are the glory years? Maybe the 1970's when they beat up on the little schools in the surrounding counties.  One winning season in 12 years is not a good showing by any standards. A-E and Carter both made coaching changes a few years ago and both programs took off again. The so called glory years of football at Gibbs High School were in the days of sharing the region with the Horace Maynard, Rutledge, Powell Valley and Claiborne County schools.

I was wondering how long it would take for you to start spouting off again. Same old junk that you spew every season. Blah, Blah, Blah. It must be nice to have all the answers. Maybe everything isn't the way you would like it to be, but to continue to harp on it like you do isn't helping anything. But why should I even be surprised, in anything that I have done there always seems to be that person that is only happy when things are bad and they have something to complain about. Get over it, if you hate the Gibbs program so bad, go be a fan of someone else!

GO EAGLES!!!!

It's not that anyone hates the Gibbs program, it's just that no one can understand with the talent up there why they can't even line up. Randy is the most pathetic fb coach to ever walk the sidelines in the kfl. A real man would have seen a long time ago that coaching wasn't his calling ans resigned a long time ago. It seems like Randy enjoy's putting his players and the community through this heck that they've been in for almost 30 yrs. I've seen real coaches that couldn't get the job done at other schools step down rather than bury their school and community in the kind of heck Randy has put the Gibbs community in. Kevin Catlett stood up and did the right thing at Clinton and Kevin could take that Gibbs program and have them in the playoffs almost ever yr. Admit it Randy can't coach a lick and needs to go ahead and retire to Jeff County and put the Gibbs community out of their misery.

Think you need to recount the wins and losses against Rutledge...the Pioneers won in 1994 snapping a 10-year drought against Gibbs (former Eagle Brad Conley was coaching for Rutledge and got his head shaved following the game) and also won in 96, 2000, 01, 03 and 04. That's six wins for Rutledge if my addition is right.

Gibbs won big in 93, rallied to win in 95 (the teams didn't play in 97-98 when Rutledge went back to the north with 1-3A), won a shootout at Rutledge in 99 and rolled to another big win in 02. That's only four wins on the Gibbs side by that count.
