If Hixson only scores 1 TD i will never post on this site again. They scored more than that against Notre Dame who has a great defense and Central has allowed 99 points in its last 2 outings.

you are right Russ, but if Central puts there starters back on defense, they have a much better defense than the one that has played all season. They were missing three returning starters on the d-line, three in the secondary and one linebacker. That makes a huge huge difference when the back ups are freshmen. The d-line had a freshman about 165 lbs playing tackle against ooltewah and red bank. Maybe they don't win, but they will have a much better defense this friday night.

Hixson wins. Central was up 7 to 3 for most of the first half. Then a double pass play put Hixson up 10 to 7 with seconds left in the second quarter. In the second half the teams continued to take shots at one another, then Hixson picked off a crucial pass with Central in the red zone which changed the tide of the game. From there Hixson went on to win 33 to 7.

Central is not a bad football team. They have talent all around the field but seem to get down easily. If they get their heads on straight they may have an upset or two this year. I think making the playoffs is a stretch but if they play inspired they could beat a down cleveland team or rhea and i dont even consider beating brainerd or walker valley an upset so they could pull out 3 region wins. #1 is a very good DE and Meadows is very shifty at QB. Patton is a strong runner and good LB but they just dont seem to play inspired. They were pumped for homecoming but after Hixsons double pass with time expiring in the 1st half they didnt look ready to play anymore.

Yeah pretty good game until the end of the first half and the end of the second. I see Central still can't stop that counter off of the speed sweep. Last year hixson ran it seemed like every play because they couldn't stop it, and then seemed like they remembered it in the second half, and they still couldn't stop it a year later. Either Central has the same defensive coach or the one this year is no better than the one last year.

On a good note for Central, Meadows can win some games for you this year, but someone needs to spend all practice on his throwing technique and rolling left, and setting up. It seems like you threw and athlete at quarterback and said play it, but didn't realize he may need some coaching on technique. With the right techniques, this kid could pull you guys out of some this year. If you aren't going to teach him technique, put the freshman back in there, and work on his for years to come and take your lumps.

Big question, 30 seconds left, why is central not in a prevent? why are best dbs not in the game? You are trying to win, who cares if these guys get tired, meadows, newby, 50 should never come of the field on defense unless they say they are too tired to. And please find a safety to play alongside 31.

I think saying any win for Central this year will be easy is wrong .Everything they get good or bad this year they seem to be working for .Theres alot of talent in these young players ,and if they can just get them in the right positions it would be great .The future looks bright for Central .

How did Central go from being a power house 2 years ago to this? I know I read something last year about a parent getting the 2003 coach fired or something like that.

Any time you have controversy like the deal with the parent in 2003, it can bring even the strongest of teams down. Coach Jones was a good coach and a good inspiration for the team. I'm sure the team had a hard time dealing with all of that (not that they don't have a good coach now). They all seemed to admire and respect him even after he resigned.

It's just adjusting to two different philosophies on coaching. Jones was more into winning and discipline through respect. While Campbell wants discipline first and wins will come. Can't say that either is wrong. In jones era, the kids respected him a lot but some of his assistants did not get the same respect from the kids. Campbell will get wins, but it will take a while for him to rebuild this program on a discipline basis. Some of the kids that Jones would have had out of the hallways can not make it in campbell's system, so they don't play. Unfortunately, they are some of the better athletes. Once he gets the discipline implemented, say a yr or two, central will be back where they need to be. (Hopefully)

Yeah, Chattanooga Central has so much talent, it's dissapointing to see them lose. If they can get the right system, and instill some discipline, they will be a region contender. For as long as I've played Central they have never really been disciplined though. They usually talk alot of trash, take cheap shots away from the play, and just generally play like a team full of worthless talent. Discipline is their number one issue, which has to be instilled by the coach.

On a side note, I just thought I'd mention that Coheleach Holmes had I believe 190 yards on 13 carries.

    • Groves got the ball over 20+ times. His son arguably played the best for East in that game. 3rd and long multiple times and he came up big to continue a couple drives. Please shut up for the 3rd year in a row
    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
