Thanks, CoachT - you are indeed The Man. VBallDaddy78, while I will call in the results as soon as possble from Brentwood, bruinfam does a very good job of reporting Brentwood scores. There are others who also will be calling in as well - some may have wireless laptops for direct entry to the coacht scoreboard. If there are any missing scores from Friday, I will try to enter them when I get home Friday or early Saturday morning. Brentwood does an excellent job updating the central scoreboard as the matches are completed. I'm pretty sure the scores from the middle school were called in to the scoreboard updater last year. I will hang around after the matches are completed looking for any missing scores from the coaches or other reliable sources.

I'll keep track of as many scores as I can, as well. See you tommorow.

As IVolly stated, Brentwood will be a little short-handed with our JV gone, but our grill crew is ready and we will be providing our great chicken sandwiches, burgers, and chicken wraps at the concession stand. Teams are welcome to bring coolers and set up in the cafeteria due to our staffing, but please keep in mind that ALL proceeds from concessions go to RED CROSS KATRINA DISASTER RELIEF.

I have added all 24 Matches for Sat. Pool Play to the team's schedules. They appear now on their "Home Page" showing upcoming matches. They will appear on the teams' full schedule page as soon as CoachT (The Man) adds them. I will call in the results starting at about 9:30 AM tomorrow after the 1st 3 or 4 matches are played. I will check back here tomorrow morning before I leave for Brentwood to see if they appear on Sat. scoreboard.

Good night and good luck to all the teams.

Friday Comments:

No surprise that Brentwood won their pool, but they did struggle some early with DCA and then got back to business with Ooltewah and Collierville.

In Pool B, the tie-breaking procedure was used to decide the 3-way tie for 1st as Father Ryan won based on games won %. The Father Ryan vs Harding Academy match was excellent with Harding Academy winning game 3, 19-17

In Pool C, I guess you would say that East Ridge coming in 3rd was a surprise. Independence did well, but Germantown looked strong and one observer stated that he thought they would win the tournament.

In Pool D, everybody thought Harpeth Hall would win, but Siegel won a tough 3 game match against them plus another one against Centennial and also held off Baylor in the night cap to take the pool. The final match did not conclude until about 10:30 last night.

Here is the Sat. Pool Schedule:

8:30 AM - Father Ryan vs Siegel, Franklin vs Harpeth Hall, Harding Academy vs Baylor, Dobyns-Bennett vs Centennial

9:30 AM - Brentwood vs Germantown, Ooltewah vs Independence, Collierville vs East Ridge, DCA vs BGA

10:30 AM - Father Ryan vs Germantown, Franklin vs Independence, Harding Academy vs East Ridge, Dobyns-Bennett vs BGA

11:30 AM - Brentwood vs Siegel, Ooltewah vs Harpeth Hall, Collierville vs Baylor DCA vs Centennial

12:30 PM - Germantown vs Siegel, Independence vs Harpeth Hall, East Ridge vs Baylor, BGA vs Centennial

1:30 PM - Brentwood vs Father Ryan, Ooltewah vs Franklin, Collierville vs Harding Academy, DCA vs Dobyns-Bennett

The single elimination bracket starts at around 3 PM when the real fun begins as all 16 teams still have a chance of winning the tournament. The Championship match is schedule for 7 PM. I'll start calling in the results to coacht beginning after the 1st group of 8:30 AM matches are complete.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
