interesting article i read up front, by murphy fair.

he said that the multiplier was not working,

evidenced by the teams that moved up all having winning records.

that is an interesting slant.

i didnt realize that the objective was to make them have losing records,

just that their classifications & regions be more appropriate.

i think murph may have jumped the gun.

perhaps we are the only ones who realize that (as yet)

the privates are playing pretty much 500 ball in their regions.

i dont expect that to last,

but it would make things simpler if it did.

The thing is that we (private school supporters) realize that the region records are hovering around 500, but like I insinuated (sp?) in a previous post ... I think most publics will just look at the overall record when determining the success of the multiplier rule.

I would like to see the privates get proactive about the potential split in the next few years. Maybe get an exploratory committee together that flies to Texas and studies their system. It definitely would not hurt to get organized now.

I agree. Murphy did jump the gun, and I found his article to be worthless for the most part.

Murphy said that "...early results from mostly non-regional games give fans a good indication of what to expect in the new alignment." He profiled two programs - CPA and DCA - that have played private schools exclusively to date. What in the world does two private programs that have played private schools only to date indicate about the effectiveness of the multiplier???

And to think Murphy charges money for "exclusive" information like this on his website... :)

I counted 11 private wins vs. 8 public wins.

I know that we have discussed region records and in Reg. 5 AA Private schools won all three region contest vs. public schools:

Goodpasture over Fairview

CPA over Harpeth

Ezell over East Robertson

Also one of the private schools wins was Temple over Taft Youth Center. I think that one is hard to qualify as a private school victory over a public school victory given the situation at Taft.

sorry to be late, i had computer problems this weekend.

the tally was indeed 11-8 privates,

predicted correctly by onlinelc!!!

after 5 weeks (week 4), the overall record is in favor of privates, 56-28.

current standings are:

bledsoebtheboys 10

lazarus 12

supersteve 12

fadepattern 14

onlinelc 14

rublind 16

indian 16

1aman 18

ksgovols 20

ajc 21

tnsddeveloper 21

stan trott 22

wooglin 23

wjbdevils 23

in the region contests, the privates won 8-7,

which makes the year to date total 17-17 in region games.

folks, it dont get closer than that.

i will try and get the week 5 games up later today.

"Considering Taft isn't really a school at all (it's actually a prison, which has special permission to field a football team against TSSAA schools), I agree."

i dont know... taft has the same disadvantage as all the publics, just more pronounced. should i use the same logic and omit some privates because they have the same advantage as the other privates, only more pronounced?

(any schools come to mind?)

i bet all us public folks can think of kids in our schools, who are just being held there until they are old enough for prison...

but, hey, i will go with the majority on this one.

so far we have 2 "no taft"'s; any one out there wanting taft included?

I would include them, because they go to school everyday and learn just like everybody else and they practice football for 3 or 4 hours usually.........
