Page went to 5-0 in District 11A-AA in a 5 game match with Spring Hill (4-3) with the game scores of 25-23, 20-35, 22-25, 25-17, 25-11. And no that isn't a typo the 5th game went to 25 because the official didn't know the rules. Even after Page's Asst. Coach Amy Markovich showed her the NFHS rule book, the official stood by her erroneous decision made at the scorer's table that the 5th game would be to 25 pts. If Page had lost this game, as we really won at 15-8, I would have blown a gasket. I hope that someone reports this incident to her supervisor in the Columbia area and gets her a rule book.

This was a close match that could have gone either way. Both teams made a lot of errors and both got away with several ball handling errors that weren't called. I guess the officiating didn't really favor either side, but it was the worst I've seen this year. I won't comment anymore on this official, but I hope some action is taken.

I'm completely speechless. Even after being shown the rulebook?! Amazing. Simply amazing.

this is true!  i think a lot of us have forgotten more about the rules than a lot of the officials now know! that is all i will say about this!

In certain parts of the state, I regret that I must agree with you. In other areas, this is not usually true. All I'll say about that (to continue, put it in the "Different Region, Different Call" thread on the main board).

    • Playing high school sports is a privilege not a right.  The college did not have to rescind the scholarship.  Scholarship offers are pulled all the time for a number of reasons. That was 100% their choice.  A coach can keep, cut, or dismiss any player that they want to without reason anytime they want.  Is that the right way to run a program?? I don't think that it is, but these are the facts of the matter. This case has absolutely 0% chance of going in the plaintiff's favor. Futhermore, I'd imagine that these administrators and the coach are a part of some teaching or coaching organization that will cover at least 1 million dollars each in legal fees. Obviously the kid and her family feel like there were "damages" thus the lawsuit.  Unfortunately, the law is not on their side in this case.
    • Maryville will recapture the loses from last year against West, Bradley and Farragut. The Bearden game will be the tough one but I look for the wheels to come off that ride somewhere down the road because of all the crap that goes on there. I know to many parents there and some of the things I've been told and some of the post a few of them have made on facebook. They all can't be liars.
    • If Heritage moves down and Alcoa moves up the best thing for Heritage is to do what William Blount did when theystopped playing Maryville or meet certain defeat. Honestly can't see Alcoa not moving up the way the county is growing. Might be in the Mountaineers best interest to stay in 5A because none of those teams on their schedule are anything close to Alcoa.
    • I say over as well. Barney, regarding the move to 4A, will the cross-town blowhards move up as well??
