Irish win Ryan Invitational

 

The host Irish won the annual Father Ryan Invitational Volleyball tournament Saturday. Tourney MVP Stephanie Carr and all-tourney performer Jenna Medeiros, both seniors, led Ryan (26-8) to a 25-19, 26-24 win over Pelham (Ala.) in the finals.

 

Brentwood Academy won the annual Glencliff Invitational tournament, halting the host Colts 25-11, 25-22 in the finals. Glencliff (27-6) edged White County, and BA stopped Hume-Fogg in the semis. Livingston Academy beat Northeast to win the silver division, and Maplewood beat M.L. King to take the bronze division.

 

Incidentally, Glencliff star middle hitter Brittany Cox was also named homecoming queen.

 

The Franklin Invitational volleyball tournament is this Friday and Saturday.
