Yes Ma'am, I sure did. I noticed Shane back when he was a soph. We were beating Blackman by a lot and everyone was sort of letting some young kids play. Everyone was pretty much not paying attention to the game and I look and see this kid from Blackman line up at receiver. Something about his stance just made me keep my eye on him. I like kids that play with emotion , and this kid was definitely happy to be in the game. BAM>>>>>>>he gets thrown a pass and catches it and goes for a first down. Next play....BAM>>>> it goes to him again.....and dang if he doesn't get another first. I couldn't explain it but.......I was really rooting for that kid to get another one. Crazy, I know. I came home from the game and posted my usual.....( back then I was region4fan) and I made sure to post something about what I saw in Shane Adams that night. He had great hands and such a drive and love for the game. I heard later that he hadn't even played middle school football and I was further amazed . I followed up on him and wasn't too surprised when I read his name in the paper as being so dedicated in the weightroom and winning some awards for it. I knew this kid was going places. When I heard that he had rated #1 in the NIKE camp, I was pleased for sure. I hate it that his senior season hasn't been the one he dreamed of, but he has definitely not lost any of his heart and fire for the game. I know he will go down in the history of Blackman as one of the best to wear a uniform, and you should be VERY VERY proud. Tell your boy he is definitely a PLAYER in my eyes. I wish him the best of luck,a nd let us know what school he picks so I can keep up with him. Thanks for letting us all know.

Now don't be surprised if TDCman accuses you of being from Oakland since you said something nice to me. ;)

Shane never played football until his freshman year, he was a basketball player.

I discouraged him when it came to playing football up until then because I was afraid he would get hurt (the mom in me).

I really feel bad for the Blackman players this year, and the coaches too. Alot of people would probably think the parents are upset at the coaches, but we're not. They are working hard with the kids, teaching them alot and really trying to build a great football program. We've been plagued with injuries that have kept some of our best players out of the game and having a small team doesn't help either. We've got some really good coaches and I predict that a few years on down the road, Blackman will be on the top!

One thing about it, Coach Wells means what he says and the rules are the same for his players whether they are superstars or not. He proved that at the very beginning of the season. I admire that alot this day in time.

I'll keep you informed about Shane and thanks for believing in him!

Isn't Elrod the freshman who started last year? I've heard he will be a beast by his senior year, so does anyone know anything about him.?

Yes Elrod came in and started late in the season as a freshman last year. He is playing both ways on the line right now. This is a kid who quietly gets the job done with no fanfare or fireworks. He has the size and height right now of a senior. He also reminds me of Luter when he was a soph. Steady as a rock and mature beyond his years. Pure heart every time he steps on the field. Adam is a coach's dream, and we are very lucky to have him on the team. He will definitely be a beast by the time he is a senior. he also has the two nicest parents that you could ever meet........very supportive . Did I mention that Adam is like a 4.0 student as well? Like I said....a coach's DREAM!

    • The people need our help!
    • Lol when was last time they won region or got past the 3 rd round.
    • Gravedigger gotta finish filling the hole before hitting 40 East. May need a new Yellow Shirt play signaler on the Stones. And apparently a new strength coach now. Cicadas must've got shaken out of the bushes in Donelson. Hopefully the mower man sticks around to keep DG field looking pristine. Maybe new OC can call in a favor to his PGA friends that knows a thing or two about being green during the season. The heat is on soon. Bring in the 2 way freak Iceman and cool things off. He knows a thing or 2 about wildcats. Gotta take our talents South soon for Nationals. Don't step on my blue suede shoes.
