yellowdog,

I certainly agree that running the TSSAA is a very difficult job which is made no easier by the size and diversity of his constituents. Yes, I agree a lot of parents push the envelope.

Ronnie Carter seems like a fine man and I have nothing against him personally. Are his rulings or those of the TSSAA always consistent, fair and unbiased? I have my opinion and someone else might have a different opinion.

I will come to Mr. Carter's defense (not that he needs or cares about my support!). It seems to me that "what we have here is a failure to communicate!" (See Cool Hand Luke) Apparently similar constituents heard the same message and interpreted it or understood it differently since some filed for hardship rulings and others did not. I wonder if clearer directives would have been given if a clarifying phone call or visit had been made to the TSSAA office? It does not seem unreasonable to me to ask for some paper work (perhaps streamlined) to be filed.

To be sure, Mr. Carter must be certain that he does the politically correct thing, which, in this case, seems to be to make D-II private schools go through some sort of verification process. I say this is the PC thing for him to do since the vast majority of his "voting public" consists of public schools. It doesn't seem unreasonable or unfair to me. Just my humble opinion, probably worth .9 cents (half of 1.8 cents).
