redandblack63
Hargis and Conner give them two solid players on the perimeter. Smith needs to play like a true 5 and only step out when he keeps them honest in the post. The questions marks imo are the 2 and 4 spots and whether Smith will be willing to do what is best for the team. Play with his back to the basket! What do you think Moc 30. O.R will be tough as usual. Halls has Cameron Sharp imo the best in E. Tn. which will make them dangerous. Clinton all depends on their attitude. If they win early look for them to be dangerous. Karns doesn't play any defense so they will not be a factor. Campbell Co. don't know? Central no players no coach no threat. Did McGill transfer? Did West move over t this district? mocs30
I have heard lee is playing the i have heard that he isnt so i dont want to say if he is or isn't I am actually sitting on the bench this year as an unofficial assistant coach, so I don't think I will comment as often as I have in years past. I think that we have all the potential in the world. I think that Conner and Hargis are some of the better guards in the state as juniors. Conner is light years ahead of last year when he was really never in the kind of shape that would allow him do everything he was capable of doing. Hargis has as big a heart as any point guard in the state and he competes like heck. His fundamentals are stronger than last year and getting better by the week. I also think that Daniel Hansen, Tyler Howell and T.C. Dinkins have substantially improved since last year. Jared MaGaha is now a legitimate 6' 7", 270 lbs. and has been playing quite a bit of ball during the summer and fall. I think he will probably have a strong chance at playing the 5 and Smith will be free to play the 4, which allows him more freedom to move around the high post. Young players including Jason Seymour and Nick Gordon have tremendous potential. Gordon, in fact, is going to be an absolute handfull this time next year if he keeps his head on straight. Write it down. Having said that, team chemistry will have to be right to get to State, which is a legitimate goal for this team. There is such a fine line between teams when you get to the semifinals of the Region Tournament. The other teams in the District will all be tough, especially Oak Ridge and Halls. We are not good enough to beat anyone just by showing up.
BigReno
I have to go with Oak Ridge.
redandblack63
I agree that Chemistry will be a big factor in the success of Powell. IMO that may have been a problem with the football team. With at least two major components of the basketball teams being football players are you concerned it may carry over to b-ball. I am afraid Smith will have to play 5 for you all to have ultra success. The big kid is just to slow to get up and down. Certainly he will contribute. But not for 36 minutes at the pace the game is played at today. Your with the kids everyday so you are more informed than I. But I would be willing to bet, success of the team hinges on Lee Smith being successful playing with his back to the basket. You will be able to go big and Smith is very capable of sepping out. That is just another dimension.
CentralBaseball09
Central no players no coach no threat. Did McGill transfer? How can u not say Central has no players. They have 3 shooters and a post player who could not play last year due to a transfer. And no Mcgill is still there

Central hasn't had a Basketball Coach since Carringer left. 10 wins will get it for the Bobcats.

The only legitimate player on that team is Conner. they'll be lucky to beat Central and have no chance against Oakridge, Clinton, Halls and West. Rim Recker don't be foolish. I know you know basketball from some of your past comments, but Hargis and Smith are very capable players. Name a team in your district those two wouldn't start for.....
