Lebanon defeated Wilson Central 45-40 tonight.

In case you can't tell from the score, this wasn't some great defensive struggle. It was just ugly. Lots of fouling, turnovers, and God only knows how many missed shots. The Devils just played well enough to win. Brian Henderson had a strong post presence tonight. Payne was pretty quiet with the exception of two FTs that iced it.

Central has some size but appears to be somewhat down this year.

Tough to gauge LHS from this game, but I know they'll need to tighten up if they want to compete in this district. Luckily, Keil is the man to do the tightening.

The Blue Devil crowd was the loudest it has ever been according to principals that have been around a while. Payne led all scorers with 12 and the Lebanon defense played great. The crowd was unbelievable.

I will tell you that yrs back, I would look forward to the OHS/ LHS basketball games. Watching the game was always great....so much talent and two great coaches going at it . But the most fun to me was the crowd-watching. I don't think anyone could rival those two cheering sections in those days. EVERYONE went to the games back then. And the cheering sections would go at it tooth and nail.......ahhhhh great times. i hope we can get them back...that was a great rivalry.

Doesnt hurt any that Lebanon's lil cracker box gym can get louder a little bit more easily than most gyms. Nonetheless, kudos for Lebanon on a big win, they have certainly played well up to this point to have a unbeaten record. Have a good head coach in Doug Keil doesnt hurt either

    • Yeah I am on board and plan on coming down from the Ridge for some home games, great Friday night atmosphere there.  I'm really hoping SC can get them back going and have some success for those fans and community.
    • Yep I was field level on the scoreboard end throwing ball with Benny when we had that brief lead. Everybody got very excited but it was short lived as Murvil regrouped and went into machine mode. But yeah,  that hit sounded like the crack of a black powder rifle being fire.  I believe Dozier took one like that as a Soph up at Greeneville after on olay block.
    • Ole Benny boy lol. I forgot about Harder. He was tough as crap. He graduated in ‘09. I went to the OR/Maryville game that year (great game, btw) and he collided with Jacob West (I think was his name) and you could hear it clearly at the top of the visitor bleachers. Man, it was a stick. He could lay some wood son. All those guys were tough, Elliott included.
    • They do have good community support for sure and did when I coached under Z for 4 years. (I was on that staff that turned them around a little from winning 1 game a year to actually being competitive).  Great Kids and Great Community over there.  They have done some good things with the facilities from when i coached too.
    • I personally will not mind that one bit.  It seems like a really strange fit to me from the git go.
