Excellent analysis sports dude on Wartburg hoops of the past.

This is 2005 and the fans feel that there is "heart" among the dogs more heart than last year. Is that because Vespie and Diden are gone??? or has their heart gotten bigger in a year???

Okay, give Mr. Shannon a break, those people who know Jeremy state he has tons of "heart" therefore, if you know Shannon, which would be the correct answer if he actually was viewing the green book?

a) checking on the fouls of opponents.

:D checking on the scoring of an opponent or opponents.

c) checking on his fouls and/or teammates fouls.

d) checking on the ball possession.

e) checking out who the referees are.

f) checking on the free throw accuracy of him or his teammates.

g) checking on the free throw accuracy of his opponents.

h) checking on the number of three pointers hit by his opponent.

i) checking his point total.

j) or lastly learning an opponents first and/or last name.

There may be other reasons to be viewing the green book during the game including checking prior scoring of an opponent they have previously faced. You folks know Mr. Shannon, what was this team player doing assuming he was checking the book? :thumb:

Ok...cool...I didnt know we had to go through the whole alphabet to figure out whether or not he was checking up on his scoring.

Someone I know was close to the scorers table when it happened.... said he had never seen anything so selfish.

And your arguements make no sense....

A. Your assistant coach keeps up with your fouls and lets you know when you are in foul trouble.

B. If an opponent is hurting you in scoring, its your coaches job to figure it out. Or it could be your job... but you shouldnt have to look at the books to know that you are getting beat by an "opponent". Thats common sense.

C. If you or a teammate is in foul trouble, its your assistant coaches job to take care of that. See the letter "A".

D.Checking on the ball possession?? Look at the possession arrow idiot.

E. Who care who the refs are? You already know who they are. They have been doing your games since jr. high.

F. Free throw accuracy doesnt matter when your up 20.

G. Free throw accuracy doesnt matter when your up 20.

H. Three pointers by opponent? Why? Does it really matter when you are winning by that much? You gotta be kidding.....

J. If he doesnt know his opponents first and last names by now... that is a scouting report mistake. Again, ... a coaches mistake.

Which takes me to the letter "I".... Why would a player ever check his point total during the game? Parents keep the point total on their notepads during the game....Dont worry... players can find out how many points they score after they come out of the locker room.

I'm not sure that Shannon would do that... however, he wore his brothers jersey (#32) during the game, instead of his own (#22) in honor of his brother being out with an injury... I also noticed that he had 22 points... so maybe he just wanted to score 22 points for the senitmental aspect of it.

Not saying this is right or wrong... just making an observation...

that is precisely my point "coaching". there could have been an explanation of various reasons but hey I believe the obvious when there is a witness. Wartburg scoring table is right there to have a lot of witnesses. The referees however are not the same ones from middle school and not even the same ones from JV. If you observe a lot of head coaches, they check the greenbook before they come in at half even though there assistants know the answers--maybe Mr. Shannon was doing the same??

Okay, no one outside of Wartburg believes that. I guess the folks in Wartburg believe Mr. J. Shannon is a D-1 prospect also. :D

What do you say Mr. Threeball? Do you think Mr. Shannon plays well enough defense to play college ball?? Do you think Mr. Shannon can stick a three from the 1 spot? Do you think Mr. Shannon with his high dribble can run the 1 in college?? Lastly, both to Mr. Threeball and to Mr. Coaching, do you even think Mr. Shannon will play college ball outside of the Roane State atmosphere??? :D

Also, previously I mentioned Wartburg had lost Diden but I was thinking Inman who did have heart. :thumb:

What I was referring to with my analogy concerning other reasons for checking the green book is that some players want to know the foul situation a lot with other players. Well werent they told that by their coaches. Threeball can attest that sometimes players let coaches words whizz by them during a game. Actually seeing that in print would soak in more such as foul situations. However, it seems from the comments that it was obviously a point check. Notice no Wartburg folks defended or answered otherwise. :D

I feel Jeremy Shannon can play college basketball. He is a very solid PG. I would say that he would fit best at the D-3 level or NAIA schools. Tusculum, Maryville, Lee University, Tennessee Wesleyan, or schools like this would all be suitable for Jeremy. I feel Jeremy could thrive in a such atmospheres. He may be able to go to a low D-1, and see sporatic minutes, but knowing him, that wouldn't satisfy him. He wants to be a major contributior and I feel he could do this best at the levels previously mentioned.

threeball, thanks for the opinion. I am sure you and i have scuffed some floors at the same time in the past? Where did you play college ball??? You mention some schools as if you have knowledge of their programs :justwrestle:

Do you think he can d college point guards though?? and shoot the three from the 1??

[/quo

Can Jeremy play college basketball? See my answer on the previous post, that Jeremy started as 'Orange Nation', titled "Wartburg, who will stand in their way".

Could he guard college point guards? Too early to tell. He is still young when you consider he would be playing against 22 year olds.

And Tusculum is a NCAA D-2 school. Not NAIA or Juco. Lee University (NAIA D-1) will not recruit Jeremy. Guaranteed. Wesleyan (NAIA D-2) might recruit him, its too early to tell....Maryville (NCAA D-3), again....no way, a workout maybe... but no offer. IF anyone recruits him, he has to have the grades unless it is JUCO. What about his ACT? Has he taken it yet? What did he score?

But we are getting ahead of ourselves here folks, the numbers speak for themselves. He has to put up 30 a night to get any coaches to come to Morgan County.

Cool, someone who knows their hoops. I find it rare on coacht.com as I sit quietly and read opinions. the boasting of wartburg drew me out of my hole.

No, I dont believe shannon can d point guards in college, no I dont believe shannon can hit threes from the point, yes i believe he has a tremendous tude to go with his game. and yes, i believe he will be a great intramural player when he goes to college. I wish him the best in maybe landing a spot with roane state and should he read this, accept this as a personal challenge.:blink::lol:
