OS91
MTSU beat NCAA women hoops power Penn State in Mboro on Decemeber 19th. A great win for the MTSU program under the guidance of Coach Insell. With a modest 7-4 record playing a very tough OOC schedule, MTSU should challenge a very good Western Kentucky team for the Sun belt Conference Championship. With a top 10 recrutiing class coming in next year, MTSU looks to be making a move toward becoming a a good mid major program to an exceptional one competing with the best in the country. With UT & Vandy dominating the area & Chattanooga having very good seasons of late, MTSU looks to be on the verge imropving its program and adding to the alreay great national perception of Tennessee women's hoops. Women's basketball is a college sport a "mid-major" (and I really don't like the term, it's limiting a perception) can rise above that and compete against virtually anyone. Look at Louisiana Tech in the past seasons, Southeast Missouri State, just two examples.
