Science Hill on a roll

The Toppers were in action against Sullivan Central on Friday night where they demolished the cougars by 38 pts. Just when Topper fans doubted that they could top that flawless performance, they went to Volunteer and won by 53 while playing scrubs most of the second half. All topper players scored with the exception of one, and 8 topper players had at lead 2 steals. There were 4 topper players in double digits (Wattad, Lauderback, Forney, Odom) and 5 with 5 or more points. Landon Turner seems unstoppable with the ball, as he breaks the press with extreme ease, and always seems to find the open man. Althought Crowder didn't have a good showing at Volunteer, He and Lauderback have emerged as a 1, 2 knockout punch underneath for the Toppers. Forney is dangerous from behind the arc, but that really goes without saying. Omar Wattad had 27 pts. He outscored Volunteer by himself throughout the 3rd quarter. He more than likely would have had 50 if he would have gotten the minutes in the 2nd half. With this said, Could this be the year of the TOPPERS?

The toppers must stay focused and cant have their typical post season let downs that they've had the last 3 years. Regional tournament is the big deal. They have to win that to get the sub state game at home. Any of the knoxville team whether it be Halls, Oak Ridge, Bearden or whomever will be really tough on the road. If they stay unselfish they've got a good shot. Wattad is phenomenal he scored 25 on 9-12 shooting at volunteer. If you give him 20 shots a game the kid would average nearly 40 a game

SHHSFAN, there were just a few errors in your statement about the game. Omar scored 25 points and actually played 22 minutes in the game. He left with 3:49 left in the fourth quarter. Also, Science Hill did not sub for scrubs (which were almost as good as the starters) until midway through the fourth also. One difference than with past coaches that I would like to commend Kutlip for is not pressing in the fourth quarter. Many teams from the past would have still pressed in the fourth quarter while being up 40+ points, but Kutlip showed a lot of class and did not press. The Toppers are peaking at the right time as we are struggling to keep a MASH Unit together with the injuries (Physically and Mentally) we are enduring right now. I love this time of year with the tourney nearing.

GOD Bless!!!

i know the imac is not any good this year but you cant overlook Greeneville. they should be tough come tournament time. it will probably be Science Hill and Greeneville in the region finals and the region is at Greeneville. i wouldnt be talking about substate and state till science hill makes it.

Greeneville will beat science hill. They cannot match up against greeneville and their defense will give Science hill alot of problems.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
